Can you all guarantee me that if I ate alot less id lose weight? There is a chance im eating too much but also there is a chance im not eating enough right? Idk what to do anymore. Im 6'0 229lbs btw. Sorry for bad grammar. Im on phone and doing this at work lol

Doubtful. If you were eating less, you would weigh less.0 -

No. That's a myth.0 -
Well I ear my 1830 calories a day so how far down should I drop it?0
-
Not likely that you were eating less than you thought.
Your metabolism has less to do with it than you might think, but adding exercise and strength training would help you burn more calories.0 -
The scale you really need is a food scale. Guessing what you're eating doesn't cut it. If you didn't lose any weight in 3 years despite exercising you weren't in a calorie deficit. Simples.0

Do you weigh all your food?0 -
So I assume you have not been tracking your calories or food. I doubt you were under eating. While I'm sure it's possible, it's more likely you were over. However even if your metabolism isn't spot on yes a calorie deficit will eventually bring you down. I tried to look at your diary but it's blocked.0

How are you calculating what you are eating? Just by labels or weighing and measuring everything?

No. You're likely to have eaten MORE than you thought, and / or burned less than you thought by exercising.0 -

If you were eating way to little for a long period your metabolism may slow down a bit to compensate but your weight loss wouldn't stop. Starvation mode isn't real at least in the way most people see it.
Enter your stats in MFP and eat those calories. Be very accurate too (use a food scale). If you're not losing weight then you're not in a deficit.0 -
Well I do track my calories. I usually eat subs and Burgers without buns. I do drink an occasional diet soda. Im going to cut it all out and eat less. Thanks for the help everyone. I really thought I starved myself or something.0

More than likely, you're not accurate with how you count. That's usually why people don't lose weight. If you are, then I'd consider if you're eating too little and/or you have a health/hormone issue.

The only advice I can give you is: do some homework! With other words, dedicate your time to read a few articles or check Pinterest on healthtips, calories, good food etc. Get the right mindset, make a profile with goals and dedicate yourself to finding a supportgroup here while entering in your diary every single thing you are eating in order to get a good impression about what you put on a daily base in your mouth. Then instead of being typing on your phone in the middle of doing some work, you will dedicate yourself to becoming a healthier person who feels better in his body. Sadly enough, it will take you time, effort and focus. You will have plenty of advise on this platform so start taking MFP serious and make it your favourite hobby! Good luck to you.0

So how many calories are you eating? Do you track protein, carbs, fats?0 -
No I dont track any of that stuff. I was under the impression that calories only matter.0
-
Btw in the summer I was walking an hour a day and eating my 1800 calories and still didnt lose. Wouldnt that of made a difference? Thats why I think my metabolism is messed up.0

Do you weigh your food?0
-
You don't, I was just checking. You can lose weight no matter what you eat so long as you are in a deficit. I would suggest you weigh and measure everything to know what you are taking in.0
-
I will stay on top of that for sure but also if im walking an hour a day that would mean I probably have 1400-1500 in me right? So then how come the scale still wouldnt move?0
-
Honestly, no one can guarantee that you will survive the DAY, let alone lose weight!! But the easiest way, the way that is also the easiest to maintain, is to track what you eat and ensure that you are in a calorie deficit. So first you have to know what you are currently eating and then figure out a way to eat less, or exercise more to earn additional calories. Or have MFP do the math for you.0

You're eating more than you think by not weighing your food.0 -

Buns are fine, carbs are fine. I'm guessing you're eating more calories then you think you are. Start weighing all your food and make sure you are exact with your calorie counting if you are doing that, and maintaining a deficit and still not losing then you may want to see a doctor.0 -
When you say you "track calories" but eat "subs and burgers", where are you getting your calorie count from? Do you weigh everything you put in your mouth on a food scale, weighed in grams? Or do you buy from a shop and guess / eyeball weights?0
-
I wont lie... I have no clue how to weigh food or even see how that would help. Say I put some Turkey on a scale... It says 3oz... Ok great so then what? Lol i am surrounded by unhealthy people in my life so I never knew any of the stuff.0
-
I take the calories from what the maar packs say and cheese packs. I really just read off the labels0

You HAVE to go into MPF, fill out the information and see how many calories it suggests you eat. Then you have to measure, weigh and log all your food to see how much you are actually eating. Exercising is not enough to lose weight without making positively sure (through weighing, measuring and logging) that you are eating less than you burn.
Also, when you log your exercise you will see how many calories you are burning. Most people agree that MPF overestimates how many calories you are burning though exercise, so they log just 50-75 percent of the calorie burn MPF gives you for exercise.
You can't lose weight by guesstimating and assuming.0 -
ok, someone will come along and give you links to some really helpful posts. I cant do that because I am technically challenged................0
