5.1 miles today in the pouring rain, i actually really enjoyed it0

@kristinegift - I pretty much only wear compression shorts as the others all seem to ride up on me or chafe. Is there a reason you don't want to wear compression? I actually found a site with compression shorts with side and back pockets but I don't remember the name and can no longer find it
Is it wrong that I am totally focused on getting my bandage off and a smaller cast put on, Wednesday afternoon and whether or not I will be able to fit in a run afterwards? I honestly have not thought of much else and am still thinking about which shoes to wear, how far to run...
@shanaber I wear tight shorts most of the time because they don't ride, but lately I can't find any with enough/big enough pockets. I ordered a pair of Saucony scoot tight shorts and the pocket barely could hold one gel! Some of the loose-leg Oiselle shorts (and other brands, obviously) have larger pockets and side pockets you can't get with compression shorts. I hate to leave compression shorts behind because they make my butt look great but I need more pockets, darn it! I wear tight shorts to avoid chafe, but I actually didn't chafe with the Distance shorts, which was a happy surprise -- though I did lube up quite a bit with Vaseline beforehand!
Aaaaand hope you can get a run in with the smaller cast!! You must be going stir crazy!0 -

Great 10k today. Went fast during the last 2 km and I was amazed I could run that fast after 8 km. I remember first time I finished 10k I was at a 7 min/km pace and was really hard. That was a month and a half ago. Today I ran almost all of them at 6 min/km and finished last 2 under 5min/km and could even sprint the last hundreds. Wanted to test for next sunday 10k race. I'm confident I can get my time under 55 minutes in race conditions. It's so great when you look back and you see how much you progress. It may not seem much day by day but it adds up a lot in time.

@07KatieP13 I love running in the rain too. A nice light rain is fun to run in.
I'm looking forward to Monday. Work today so I doubt I'll get a run in afterwards. I work in a bar and being on my feet all day/night really takes a toll on my legs and feet.
My goal for the week is to run 4 times. I have an endoscope on Tuesday so that day is out, and Wednesday is ify if I'll be back up to normal. Hopefully they can find out what's wrong with me, so sick of the doctors and really don't want a test the "other way"
Monday's goal is 4 miles easy.

Congrats on the awesome 10k @AdrianChr92!!
This morning I could hear rain so I checked my weather app to figure out how to dress. It said it was 32 F (0 C) and snowing. I looked outside and saw rain coming down, white on the grass, cars and patches of white on the streets. So I dressed up in pants, tights, shorts, hoodie and gloves and headed out. I did not encounter any ice but plenty of slush and puddles.
It transitioned to giant snowflakes on the way home making for a beautiful scene with the green and blooms of spring, running streams, contrasted with the white patches on the ground and giant snowflakes falling.
Happy Easter everyone!

Fantastic run this morning! Ran 14 of 16 with my buddy Mike, and we paced 8:30 for 12 miles -- a bit faster than I'd expected to run after we killed it on the shore yesterday -- and then I made him run the last 4 as tempo with me which he did not appreciate (though I warned him 2 days ahead of time!). He kept pace for the first mile when we dropped from 8:30s to a 7:49 mile. Then he realized he was way over dressed and we slowed down so he could un-jacket. But then after that mile he was like, "Nope, you just go." I did a 7:38 and 7:29 to round out the run, and he said that he was only about a quarter mile behind me after a walk break and did sub-8s back to his car. So all around, a great run for both of us!
I'm still having a hard time believing that I can run an 8:30 pace -- talking the entire time!! -- and then still run 7:30-7:50 pace at the end of a 2+ hour run. A year ago that would have been unbelievable. I guess much like it took a while to realize that I did indeed lose weight and was in fact smaller, this whole "I can run fast?!" thing will require quite an adjustment too.
Upcoming Races:

It was a good run, only stopping once for traffic during the intervals. Dressed a little warm since I didn't account for the sun beating down on me (another reason I prefer predawn runs!) but rolled up my sleeves and kept going. Feeling great about this!

Happy Easter! I had a nice very early run with my daughter this AM. Tomorrow she flies back to NYC and I am flying to DC to visit my mother for the rest of my spring break. I will be running up there and I'm sure it will be much cooler than Florida! Today it was 96% humidity. As soon as we stepped outside we were both shocked at the heat.
We stopped at 7-11 for the bathroom and a water at mile 4.5 because we were just soaking wet and hadn't been prepared.
@4leighbee - awesome - 10 miles! Congrats!
@kristinegift - lol - that would be a little unnerving to feel air on the butt.
@ariceroni - congrats on the PR -and awards!!! nice job!
@elise4270 - I have felt that same way in bike groups many time - just go ahead! I haven’t done run groups or would be the same there!

@whatmerunning - I didn’t know that Strava paused like that. I’m using both Endomondo and Strava at the moment and I have to pause Endomondo. But I just looked at my times on run this am, and sure enough it must have paused it!
@shanaber - lol - I don’t think it’s wrong at all! I’m sure Hobbes is hoping for the run too!

March Goal: Run often
Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes for my son. I walked into his house on Monday afternoon and recognized he was having a neurologic emergency. So much of our week together was spent with more emergent medical imaging tests and emergency radiation to his spine to ward off his impending cauda equina syndrome. Our time together was great, tho the prognosis remains grim.......thanks for your continued good thoughts and prayers.
Continuing prayers for your son.
So sorry you and your family are going through this.

That's so good to hear, I mean I'm looking forward to "where will I be in a year?". I ran 9:1-9:2 with the group and of course they can chat all day, I can get a short sentence out, and think man, I have got far to go.
Super congratulations on the pace and cardiovascular improvement!
