After my spill on Saturday and going splat on the asphalt, I have lots of sore muscles now. I have also gained four pounds. Could that be from water retention of the muscles trying to repair themselves?
Nice to see you are back in the saddle again @tcaley4 -- I think you might be onto something with the 4lbs... that's 1/2 a gallon of water your body probably held onto.0 -

Took the half ironman bike leg pretty easy, wrapping it up in 2:39 (21mph avg), and ended the race with a bit much left in the tank in 5:07, as it was my first attempt at the distance, and I'm still figuring out how to pace things.
After 2 rest days, returned to the cold north and got in a bunch more miles after changing a flat and getting my rear mech tuned at a local bike shop, as I had installed brifters on my northern commuter bike a while back, but couldn't quite get the shifting right. I'll need to put on a new front mech tomorrow (as the tourney brifters weren't compatible with my old tourney front mech) though to get all 3 gears on the front chainwheel happy.

4/14 - 23 miles - I need to have a stern talking to myself so that I get out of bed early enough in the morning to take the long route in. The ride on the way home is getting pretty crowded now that the weather is nice and there are tons of people who lack basic bike etiquette that makes it less enjoyable. Always pass on your left. Always announce your presence (ring your bell or call "on your left") unless you can pass with like a 5 or 6 feet gap. And never pass on the right, especially when the right is where people are designated to walk. Walkers on a shared use path in their designated space should not have to jump out of the way because a freakin pathlete can't slow down enough to navigate around on the left (last night - older lady going slow, on the right. Younger couple slowly waiting to pass her on the left until we've all gone through an intersection. I slow down to wait for the couple to pass before I pass. Pathlete decides he is too important to slow down and almost plows through walkers on the right). I may have called him several choice, not nice names. I regret nothing.

Just another ride to/from the Pirates vs. Tigers game today, along with some tuning miles as I had a local shop install the new front derailleur and I wanted to make sure the brifters were in line. Very happy that the bike is pretty much done for now, although replacing the brakes is my likely next project.

Only about 30 miles so far this month (which really, is only this week, since the weather has been so lousy). By the end of today it'll be 40, so for one week, I guess that's not so bad.
I'll try to do better tracking daily. Sometimes I forget to start my watch before I ride, and because I ride in the city and have lots of stoplights and intersections, my pace is a slower than I'd like. But hey, I'm moving, right?0 -
I completed my first Imperial century last week with 103 miles in 6hrs 33mins or 7h 45mins if you include the cafe stops
For the year so far I've done
Distance 1,517.3 mi
Time 98h 38m
Elev Gain 30,827 ft
Avg Distance Week / 142 mi
Avg Time / Week 9h 3m
I've set myself a goal of 5000 miles for the year and so far I'm 70 miles ahead of where I need to be3 -

4/15 - 23 miles - the shower facilities at work continue to be unreliable, so I decided to try to bike in "normal people" clothes (aka no spandex). The weather was a gorgeous 50 degrees again, the wind was with me (thankfully, especially after a horrid headwind on the way home), and I got to work no worse for wear, aside from a sweaty back from my backpack. Wouldn't be able to do this on any day other than casual Friday, so I hope the showers get fixed soon!

15 days into the #30daysofbiking! So far the weather has been kind to me. It was cold and windy up front, but thus far have avoided major snow and/or rain. I'm looking forward to putting together my new Gunnar this weekend and taking it out for a spin. I know next to nothing about bike maintenance, aside from how to change a flat and how to oil my chain, so I'm also excited to learn more how everything works together. I'm playing around with the idea of riding across the country in the next few years, and I can't do that if I don't know how to fix my own bike!

@wayneh73 what beautiful scenery for a century ride! I've done two centuries and all I get to look at is farm land, haha. Congrats on the ride0
-
I will be going out after work today for a spin. Looks like the weather is going to be gorgeous0
-
This is so inspiring!! Just have to wait for a bit more snow to melt in Northern Ontario then I can get out riding too!!!0

Hi all after rain and root canals I finally got in a ride!
Goal: 200 miles
4/3 - 20.4
4/6 - 15.6
4/11 - 15.3 - Ugly headwinds (how is it possible to have them going both ways??)
P
I plan to ride about 26 miles tomorrow or Sun. I'm playing catch-up now. Kudos to all who are heading out in the cold and nasty weather, it takes a lot of motivation1 -
Continuing to commute around Pittsburgh by bike this week, and starting to get my climbing legs back (as Florida definitely lacks hills). Took my ride easy to/from tonight's ballgame, as I've run about 40 miles the past 3 days as well and my legs are starting to rebel. Getting the hang of thumb-button shifting on my brifters as my other bikes all have the standard shimano 2-piece pivot brifters.

Just a few more baseball game commutes around town, as my legs are starting to get a bit more used to the hills. Really appreciating the brifters here in the hills, although my triple front isn't reliably downshifting to the bottom cog at cadences under 90, so I'll need to do a bit more tuning.
