Would love to join you guys for May, I'm slow, have a hybrid bike and live in very rural france. Have only been cycling for a couple of years. I need new hips and have a dodgy back,so may not be able to keep up, but i am aiming for at least 200 miles for May xx

Welcome Stephanie. We're glad you are here.

4/29 - 23 miles - second to last day of #30daysofbiking. I road home in the rain the last two days, and this morning the temps were in the mid 30s, but thankfully dry. Despite the less than desirable conditions, I really enjoyed these rides, which got me wondering as to why. And I think the reason is because there are less people out. Don't get me wrong, I love that so many other people love the outdoors and want to be out enjoying it, but after a winter of solitude on my bike, I've come to appreciate the alone time out in nature (or as much nature as one can have in the city). It puts my mind at ease in ways riding with a group doesn't.

That's my month's cycling done now as not out again until Sunday so a little short of my goal. But I had 2 big things for me this month:
    1) I rode 2 long cycles on consecutive days which I never normally do and I enjoyed it.
    2) I've started racing!! And I absolutely love it. I never knew that I'm a total speed Queen!!

I'd love to join all of you for May! My husband bought me a cruiser bike last year and I really want to start riding more. I also bought a vintage German cruiser that I'm hoping to get in ride-able condition soon. My son usually goes for rides with me and he likes to stop a lot and gets tired fast so it's hard for me to get in a lot of miles but we enjoy our slow rides :)

So excited about all the new interest in this group :)! Cycling has been my go-to excersize for years. Getting outside whenEver possible keeps me happy. Although I like running, too much of it can be bad for the joints, and I've never been great at it.
I've had an over-eating problem for as long as I can remember, and although it has negatively impacted my weight and health, it's also encouraged me to get into distance biking to work up a big calorie deficit. Now, I'm working on seeing food as a way to fuel and strengthen my body, not as a comfort to abuse when I'm feeling stressed or bored.
This group has been great, and a much needed inspiration to get out and ride in some chilly April weather. I'm 30 miles away from my goal, and it looks like I'll just make it :) looking forward to another great month with you all !!

Managed to make the most of the nice if somewhat breezy weather this morning with a 70 mile ride. Still on the winter bike but not long until the carbon comes out of hibernation
The best thing about riding a bike has got to be the cafe stops

4/30 - 52 miles - took a Prince bike tour today. Biked up to First Ave, passed by Cedar Lake (that ain't Lake Minnetonka - the internet tells me that scene was probably shot on the north shore of Cedar Lake), then down to Chanhassan. I biked around the streets where Prince was often spotted on his bike, and then made my way to Paisley Park. After that, I headed back to Minneapolis (straight into a strong headwind booo), and ended up at the Sabathani Prince Block Party (currently a community center, formerly the junior high prince attended). I danced around a bit and headed out after an hour or so because I could feel my energy levels taking a dive (only had donuts for breakfast, probably should have brought something to eat along the way). Alas, I left a few minutes before Flava Flav took the stage. Bah!

    5vd9io4ch53o.jpg

And that's a wrap on #30daysofbiking! With this last long ride I broke 600 miles, woohoo! I'm taking my first day off in 30 days tomorrow, but will be back on the bike on Monday :)

    I made my goal!
Four rides to work this week. I had the good intentions of cycling to work each day, but Friday morning I got called in for a technical emergency after ~3 hours of sleep; I'm afraid I'm nor nearly bike-enthousiastic enough race through the cold rain in the middle of the night, took the car for that one. Still, four out of five ain't bad...

    Monday 12.2 km work/back
    Tuesday 9.8km work/back
    Wednesday 13.3 km work/back
    Thursday 9.7 km work/back
    Saturday 6.0km grocery shopping

    April: 124.5km of 100km goal done :)

I'd like to say thank you for this challenge. It's really impressive to see how far others go, and great to see all the nice pictures. My rides to work are not very exciting compared to that, but I'm starting to enjoy them anyway - I actually took some slightly longer routes on the rare sunny days this week, just for fun!

Adding in my pathetically small total - but my first ever month of cycling! It included a 10 day trip to Europe without a bike and ended in an illness, but hey. I had a great time and I'm looking forward to May. Thanks to everyone else in the challenge, it was fun reading all your adventures.

    4/3 - 6.3 miles indoor
    4/4 - 3 miles outdoor
    4/5 5.7 miles out
    4/6 4.8 miles in
    4/7 4.9 miles in
    10/4 3.5 miles outdoor
    11/4 4 miles outdoor
    12/4 6.9 outdoor
    13/4 6.2 miles indoor
    14/4 7.7 outdoor

    Distances include cycling + walking
    March: 489.8 km (304.3 miles) = 38 hours 4 min
    April: 491.94 km (305.6 miles) = 43 hours 6 min
    May: 361.81 km (224.8 miles) = 35 hours 50 min
    June: 569.53 km (353.9 miles) = 41 hours 53 min
    July: 230.7 km (143.35 miles) = 32 hours 45 min
    Aug: 211.3 km (131.3 miles) = 28 hours 8 min
    Sep: 306.7 km (190.6 miles) = 35 hour 2 min
    Oct: 441.82 km (274.5 miles) = 47 hours 43 min
    Nov: 660.21 km (410.23 miles) = 60 hours 41 min
    Dec: 499.91 km (282.8 miles) = 54 hours 56 min
    Jan: 864.79 km (537.35 miles) = 65 hours 36 min
    Feb: 470.53 km (292.4 miles) = 40 hours 39 min
    March: 917.73 km (570.2 miles) = 66 hours 13 min

April probably won't be as ambitious as March was because I have three major uni assignments due before the middle of the month and won't be as active. But if I could do what I did last April, that would be nice. :)

drat this says april and now its May. I'll add this anyway. I have a stationary bike I can do about 3 minutes on at low resistance. I dont have the stamina to do more. I have a mountain bike Id love to try riding but I dont have money to repair it :( i guess if I could only ride it for 3 minutes that wouldnt be very far but it would still be fun
