That's silly. My diet usually contains more vegetables than most people consider possible to eat, but easter week was a very busy time and I existed almost exclusively on chocolate. My weight loss was no different than usual. So what if you insulin spikes? Even for diabetics it has almost nothing to do with weight loss.16 -

With health and nutrition yes, but not with weight loss. It's like the age old question, "what weighs more 100lb of feathers or 100lb of gold"15 -

Nutritionally, sure, or if you have health issues such that eating some sugar without fiber is a problem (it's not for most people with normal insulin responses).
But since CICO does not (obviously) mean all foods are the same for all purposes (in other words, a calorie is a calorie DOES NOT mean a food is a food), and you really have to be willfully trying to misinterpret what people say to think otherwise, this has nothing to do with the validity of CICO.
For weight loss calories are what matter. What helps people with the mental side of keeping calories in check is individual, and therefore claiming that eating a candy bar is a problem in general is false.
(Also, the idea of choosing between a candy bar and vegetables is just bizarre. I eat vegetables with all meals, ideally. I might have some high quality chocolate as a snack after a meal. I would never sacrifice a balanced normal meal or a component of it for the treat, and I think it's odd to think people typically would.)9 -

I don't think you understand what cico means. Where did anyone say 100 cals of vegetables is nutritionally equal to 100 of candy ?
People say 100 cals of carrots is equal to 100 cals of candy as far as weight loss is concerned and that is very true.
Weight loss comes down to calories

Nowhere in that above statement is nutrition mentioned. It is said in the context of weight loss. Weight loss is caused by a calorie deficit and that's fact. There's no way around it. If you decide not to believe it, that's on you but please do not go about spreading more false information. Spreading false info only further confuses newcomers who come here desperate to lose weight.
My point is - nobody ever said 100 cals of candy is nutritionally equal to 100 cals of vegetables.
People did And do say that 100 cals of candy is the same as 100 cals of vegetables as far as weight loss goes because that it in fact true.
If I ate 1500 cals of candy I would still lose weight because I would be at a calorie deficit. Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. Obviously I wouldn't have a well balanced diet by eating 1500 cals of candy per day and it surely wouldn't be a healthy sustainable way of eating but I would still lose weight. Calories in - calories out.
You seem to be very misunderstood about weight loss and nutrition and are only confusing others by posting misinformation.23 -

Damn, grazing has to be counted. That's why I hit Costco early in the day, before the sample people get set up. I just wish they'd quit venting the bakery exhaust into to store so you don't smell all those cookies and stuff while you're shopping. And to again get back on track:

Co-worker of mine went gluten-free and of course she lost weight, mostly because she was eating considerably less gluten-free than she did prior. She, of course started pushing it on me, especially since SO has crohn's. She was miffed when I told her that we wouldn't be going gluten-free and that most GF alternatives actually cause reactions with his crohn's. She still doesn't understand how I'm losing weight just counting calories. She thinks I'm just not telling her my big "diet secret" lmao.4 -
