They are like "smash in the calories! no one gets fat off fruit!" but then they are biking 120k a day on their bikes and burning thousands and thousands of calories each and every day.
If you want someone who can give you some information based on actual science and actual facts NOT nonsense woo woo i suggest the following:
Unnatural Vegan
OMG she and him say SO much that makes no sense! I found the unnatural vegan through my research and she makes so much more logical sense
Freelee is confusing. I watched a video of hers where she advocated eating lots and lots of bananas. Those bananas in large quantities have many calories! I don't get how she stays so slim even with all the biking and working out she does.
I don't get her 'raw till 4' crap. What suddenly happens at 4?
I was confused too so I looked into it and apparently according to her you need to eat raw foods before cooked otherwise you won't digest it well. Total bs hahaha
Lol a salad with roasted tomatoes must be the stuff of her nightmares!1 -
I've lost 94 lbs (and reached my goal) by counting calories, weighing and measuring food, making sure I'm including the right macros, and exercising. You can't imagine the number of people who say, "You look fantastic!" THEN they say, you should try THIS diet, or that gimmick - as if what I've been doing didn't work!!! Earth to idiots! I'm doing just fine, thank you!17

Congrats!!
And ugh people are the worst!2 -
I went from 139 pounds to 112 pounds in the span of less than a year all by calorie counting and exercising. I'm now maintaining my weight. I still count, I still log, I still weigh my food when I eat/make food at home. I don't plan on stopping either. Could I try to not log for a week or two and see how I do? Sure, but logging/weighing takes little time for me to do and it's not an inconvenience for my life.
I'd rather calorie count, knowing that I can maintain my weight on 2000+ calories, than to be afraid to eat more than 1200 to 1400 just so I could remain 112 pounds. In the past when I lost weight, that's what I'd do. Lots of restriction until things went south and I gained some weight back. I love knowing that I can fit in a donut, piece of cake, or several if I feel like it instead of feeling like I have to eat nothing but fruits and vegetables all day long or stick to some insanely low calorie amount where I would continue to lose weight and it would make me sick. For me, MFP is the ultimate tool of sustainability when it comes to my weight management.6 -
What annoys me are the people who say it's possible to eat 3 meals of a 'traditional' vegetarian Indian diet and still be healthy just because their skinny relatives in India had sudden death (rather than heart attack) on their death certificates. A single traditional indian meal has between 1-2 thousand calories - it was designed for our hard working farmer ancestors who often could only eat 1 meal a day. It's not for modern Indians.6

Because for most people, weighing and measuring and counting every morsel of food you eat is a total non-starter.

ohhhh maybe they live UNDER A ROCK or a pineapple under the sea.... I mean, if you keep a tiny circle of friends and you ask them no personal questions I can see this as true. oh and they are all naturally fit and healthy....7 -

Can't be a pineapple under the sea. I mean, have you seen Patrick?2 -
Loosing weight is math, that said.. you dont HAVE to calculate to actually loose some weight.
I like how people are different and find their way to Rome on a different path than every other person out there.
I like how I do things, but I do not get annoyed because someone else do things differently.
People care too much about what opinions others have.
IMO.. You may ask about other peoples opinions, but then you should make up your own.0 -

The issue is that some "opinions" are not factually accurate. When someone, for instance, posts that one can eat 5800 calories per day and lose or maintain weight because they were "good calories", that is a recipe for disaster for new or struggling people.10 -
If you have not got the answer yet then allow me to provide it:
A long-term intervention with an unrestricted-calorie, high-vegetable-fat Mediterranean diet was associated with decreases in bodyweight and less gain in central adiposity compared with a control diet. These results lend support to advice not restricting intake of healthy fats for bodyweight maintenance.

News outlets read this and jumped to the wrong conclusion.1 -
Non-MFP people seem to believe that tracking your calories/macros takes your WHOLE entire day. Lol no, maybe at first when you just start and your anal about everything. After awhile it's just like breathing. It comes naturally to you to add everything you eat. You truly understand your body better when you can visibly read what you've been putting into it. IMHO.12

Counting makes it real... you can't ignore the results if you see "red" every night and you were over your totals for the day.4

There are certain people tho that are always stick thin no matter what they eat (my bf is one of them grrr) so what's up with that? Fast metabolism?0

You could also be overestimating how many calories is actually in their meal.13 -

I remember (in my thin days) when a friend asked me how someone who is so thin could eat so hearty. The truth was that I ate really lightly for several days after a potluck dinner, buffet, or outing. Plus, on my normal days I ate very little for breakfast and lunch and ate most of my daily calories at dinner.9 -

I can't stop watching freelee videos despite their dumbness3

my younger sister uses weight watchers, from what I gather they have a point system, which is no different really from calorie counting
they have a given a certain amount of points they can eat per day, how many depends on the person, just like here, how many calories depends on how active you are, height etc3 -

How does she like it? I hear mixed reviews.0 -

A) Are you sure? Not everyone who counts calories goes around advertising it. This can be rather personal
Exactly. I bet @gonetothedogs DOES know people who count calories, they just don't talk about it. My family and a few close friends are aware of my calorie counting and weighing, because they've seen me do it at home, but I certainly don't advertise the fact that I count/weigh. Unless someone asked me, they would never know.4 -
she asked me to join her, she loves it, her husband thinks it is a waste of money, but keeps quiet for me MFP works just fine and is free, or at least my level of membership is
but from what I gather, they have regular meetings, so depends what you want5 -

Amen! Even when they ask I don't like advertising I calorie count cause for SOME reason they have been brainwashed to think it's a negative thinng1 -

I think many people have trouble accepting the idea of CICO because it seems too simple. If you've tried every fad diet under the sun, with limited success, it must sound incredible to believe that people could lose weight simply by counting calories. Also, anyone with a TV, computer or tablet is constantly confronted with endless charlatans trying to make money peddling these latest "miracle" fads.3 -

Good point!1 -
I used to count calories and lost weight. Then I got bored because I had (in my opinion) had it at such a low level for the weight that I was at, and got bored of starving/eating the same things, so I stopped. Gained the weight back. Then I decided to start working out again but without counting calories. I got stronger and I could run longer distances but I was barely losing any weight. So I started counting again because I suck at portion control/eyeballing things. Some people are great at that, can eat on a smaller plate and all of that, but I find a lot of success just by counting. What also helps is that I'm now smarter at calculating how much calories to eat so that I'm on a more gradual restriction and not anything drastic.
In the end, whatever works for you though ^_^7 -
