However, when you're defining LIGHT, MODERATE and HEAVY lifting, what I said above is correct.

It sounds to me like you're not properly stretching. Make sure you're really stretching out your hip flexors, hamstrings, lower back, quads, etc. Also foam rolling is magical. A lot of time aches and pains are not from injury or damage to the area that hurts it's from tightness in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surround the area. I find when my knees hurt for example it's because my quads are tight and I just need to roll the *kitten* out of them and stretch a lot. If the pain continues you can buy knee sleeves from rouge fitness and see if those help.3 -

Let's just shut up about the exact numbers shall we? I mean are any of you really researchers in the field of aerobic and anaerobic activity? Likely not. Let's just keep showing photos and stop arguing. All that is happening with this petty bickering is that I want to go have a beer and Hops is not part of my eat to perform dietary standards! My birthday was April 27th and I took this pic. It was the day before I quit my cardio dance group to try doing weights. I had been doing cardio dancing for 4 years.
This pic was taken today. I'm not exactly where I want to be but my body is smaller than it was when I focused on cardio with little weights. And this is 3 weeks of just weights and I cut back on Calories 2 days a week. I haven't done cardio in 3 weeks. I'm a believer in lifting because I'm cutting fat quicker. People want me to go back to dance but in my head, I know I will stick with lifting.20 -

So with Heavy lifting my arms have gone from 17 inches to 13
My chest is still at a 38 with some more weight loss that too shall go down
my waist has gone from a 44 to a 38
abs have gone down from a 42 to a 40
hips have gone from a 40 to a 45.5 Squatters butt here I come
and my thighs have gone down 2 inches
I am not ready to post a pic yet but ..... I will get there

LOVE that more and more women are starting to realize the benefits to lifting heavy and move past the myth!! I absolutely love being strong!!

Honestly I've been doing a modified StrongLifts program (With dumbbells only!). I have a weak left hip which causes my hips to twist when I use a weighted bar...Just looking for progress not perfection. I'll get there!12 -

That's some serious progress. And would you mind sharing with everyone what your diet has been like? How long in a deficit/maintenance?3 -
When I first started, I shot for a 1200-1400ish calorie-count until October 2015 when I hit 130 lbs (20 lbs less than my original GOAL weight-think elliptical/dreadmill and it was awful). I thought when I hit my new goal weight I would be happy with my body: I wasn't! Since October 2015, I have been in maintenance +/- 5 lbs. I eat between 1800 and 2200 calories. I'm sitting at 126 currently....every now and then I drop my calories because I would like to drop my body fat %...BUT I don't know how serious I am: I'm not really willing to give up my calories!!I'm "recomping." Just enjoying what I'm doing and hoping to continue to see results (even if they take time!)
Other than watching my calories, and shooting for 100g of protein, I don't really watch my macros...I really believe results lie in your calorie counts, your sweat equity, and time.19 -

I should say: I'm still a beginner. I had no idea what I was doing when I lifted my first weight: I just listened to my body. I strive to look like the ladies here in this forum: not thin, but strong.5

You ladies inspired me to start lifting--I started New Rules in April and here are my before stage 1 and after stage 2 pics.
I can't wait to see what changes will come after another few months!

I'm just getting huuuge, ladies. If by huge I really mean 5lbs and one size below my lightest/smallest size as an adult. I hit 70lbs lost today--and finally got to 100 lbs on my deadlift! I am so excited, but no one IRL gets my excitement...so I just needed to share here

It's not a myth. Some women, depending on their build and body fat distribution, do get bigger.
