The middle picture is the update. The skirt is the very first 0 size that I ever wore. Bought at my favorite store "Goodwill" and the picture is actually taken at Goodwill! Since I have been on this journey of transforming my body I like a lot of you have had to do a lot of clothes shopping! Now I'm a Goodwill junkie!22

Lost my baby weight (from my 3rd child) in December. Hit the gym in January after I recovered from severe pneumonia. I weighed 125 when I started at the gym and 136 now. I lifted heavy, and ate 2300-3000 calories a day. Just tryin' to get buff I do not think I look like a dude!
ONE YEAR! Last year vs last week
Now:
THIS! HOLY SMOKES, THIS ALLLLL DDAAAAYYYY! I'm down to 139 and all i care about are abs like yours. I've been eating 1200 cals, eating back 100-150 cal of any exercise i do. That consists of 1 weekly personal training session, 3 days of SL 5x5, 2 days of HIIT/jogging and 1 day of rest but I can't seem to get rid of the mid-section flab to show off my baby abs. Please share your regimen!
You look amazing btw!2 -

We need a lot more detail from you to give you an opinion on that. You might want to start a separate thread.
Thanks what forum should I start it on0 -

You can start on General Weight Loss or the Fitness section. Your deficit will depend on how much weight you have to lose. If it's a decent amount, above 50 lbs-I like a 2lb per week loss.0 -
This was probably a couple months ago. Maybe May? Anyway, I have gone up in clothing sizes, but my waist is still 29" and my weight is staying pretty consistent. I have very mixed feelings about what lifting has done to and for my body. My husband is loving the #squatbooty and I'm in love with my shoulders, as long as I don't have to try to fit them in sleeves.

Your arms and shoulders look great! Do you care to share your mixed feelings? :-)

Sure! Thanks! My shoulders have always been big so they are definitely where I've made the most progress!
I never really had issues finding or fitting into clothes before I started lifting. Now, it's really difficult to find clothes (tops and pants) that fit correctly without being either so tight I can't move (I'm looking at you, Calvin Klein dress) or so baggy that it looks like I'm wearing my husband's clothes. I've outgrown most of my pants this year, and some of them I only got to wear once or twice because I just bought them.
On the complete other hand, it's awesome to look in the mirror and SEE all the hard work I've put in over the last year be right there in front (and behind ) me, and to have people notice and comment on how strong I look. Hand down, I would rather someone say I look strong/fit than that I look pretty.
A super big bonus of lifting is how well I fill out pants now and the fact that my husband of 16+ years can't keep his hand of me.17 -

Question for all you gorgeous ladies. I am very interested in starting stronglifts while I still have around 20 pounds to lose. My question is regarding calories. Did you stay at your MFP goal of 500 calories short (or whatever it was for you) or did you increase your intake and still lose weight? I don't want to underfuel, but I also don't want to sabotage my weight loss by overfueling either. This might have been answered somewhere, but I haven't had a chance to read every page yet, and I want to start my program tonight.1

I always feed my lifting. 100-150 cals does it for me. I am quite petite so you could well eat back more.
Cheers, h.0 -

I don't typically eat back my calories unless I feel very hungry. I do however plan into my day a pre-lift snack and post lift session meal that helps keep me properly fuelled. I think it's like most things where you have to try some different methods and see what works for your body as everyone is different.

@MsMaeFlowers If weight loss is your primary goal, you should continue eating at a deficit. You will still make progress lifting, especially if you're new to the strong lifts program. Lifting isn't really a huge calorie burner, so don't eat too much to compensate or you'll sabotage your ultimate weight loss goal. I don't eat back exercise calories from lifting, though I do eat back a portion of what I expend on cardio workouts.
Also, join the women's stronglifts group here on MFP if you haven't already. Great info!6 -
You girls are amazing! I just started with 5x5, before I lost lbs but no body fat by just doing Cardio and light weights but things have changed ;-) I am looking forward to posting progress pics3

Personally I keep in a deficit. Lifting doesn't burn a lot of calories, so I very much recommend not eating back the calories burned or eating back no more than half what MFP tells you that you burned.
Keep in mind that if lifting is new for you, your body will retain water at first (to repair muscles), which often makes people unhappy as they see the scale go up. Do not worry about it. It will eventually come down. Make sure you drink lots of water. Once you start lifting and start seeing the positive changes in your body composition, you may pay less attention to the scale and more attention to body measurements.1 -

You have beautifully toned arms and shoulders.

Keep a deficit if you want to lose weight. I did a LOT of lifting in a deficit. Heck, I'm prepping for a powerlifting meet and training really heavy in a slight deficit so I can make weight, and I'm still fueled. As long as you are on a program that allows for proper recovery and aren't using a very aggressive deficit you're all good.8 -
Thanks @Arditarose and @Madux1818. I love my shoulders and arms now. They used to be so long and skinny without any definition.
@MsMaeFlowers, I lifted on a small deficit as well. Just make sure to eat well before and after.0 -
mom23mangos- you look amazing! Definitely can tell you lift! Nice tone! I love the dress and your shoes! I'm looking for a pair of those shoes!2

The shoes are Chuck Taylor knock offs from Target @fanncy0626. Thanks for the compliments. Your transformation is amazing.4
