I haven't lost much weight but it would have been nice to know that my boobs would be the first to go.... That's all I had!17

Omg same! I have always wanted them smaller but i didn't know they would go so much. I was a loss for a few days because I was in shock my bras weren't fitting...too big.
But to stay on topic, what surprised me the most was how much more confident I have become. I used to hate tryin on clothes now I get excited to shop. I always would second guess myself and now I just go with the flow. I've gained so much more than just lbs lost. Feels amazing to have a new self-love for myself.18 -
my little boy told my he loved my "cozy" skin (which in real life means it is just A LOT less firm than his - 4 year old's - skin).
I am looking forward to the kids' being surprised when we can't play the "mummy's jelly tummy"-game any longer. all of us will outgrow it in different directions
they don't know I am losing weight but I can tell how much difference only a small weight loss as mine (9 kg) makes in terms of flexibility and activity when playing with them.
I ache so much less now.
I am more picky and have higher expectations in many areas - about how food is supposed to taste (I can't waste calories on stuff I don't really like), about how clothes are supposed to look like - not just wear what I fit in but actually what I like.
I am surprised how much more I am interested in food so today I got myself my first food processor and a vegan cookbook just to broaden my range.
I am looking forward to losing weight but I am nervous about it, too, and that is what I didn't expect. I have about 17 kg to go; so far I thought I just didn't have the discipline but I think I was just to scared to become slim. It is comfy to hide in being overweight, you are less visible to many people. I feel not only my body but also my character will have to be more defined once I am slim. hmmm...26 -
I love being able to feel my collarbone!!12

Took a sizeable chunk of flesh off my knee the other day while shaving. Yeouch! It still hurts, a week later, I think it's really deep. But the funny thing is, every time I notice it and rub it, I smile and think "I did that because you can feel the bone of my knee now, a bone you SHOULD be able to feel and have to be careful of when shaving! Go me!"20

I find it very satisfying seeing how wet my clothes are after a workout, because I can SEE how hard I worked. The more sweat, the better I feel.17

When I see other fat people like me, I now instantly think "I wonder if they have just started their journey too?"39

Being able to fit in a booth and not having my boobs resting on the table19

Yes, my perceptions have changed too thanks to various posts on this site! I realised I was guilty of being judgemental, both of thin people and fat ones, and now if I catch myself thinking that way I correct myself. Maybe that very obese woman over there has already lost 50lbs or more, who can say? Maybe that very slim guy really does know how it feels to be overweight because he lost 100lbs a couple of years ago.

When you change places you work, and see the ex-coworker from the old place and they literally do not recognize you.
When you get whistled at while running Can't stand that one.
When gross men try to talk to you at the store. #istillwanttobeleftalone
When you fit into a size 5 jean shorts and remember 100 lbs ago when you would look at that size at the store and wonder how it was humanly possible for anyone to fit into it nonetheless yourself!34 -
I had a weird one....my feet lost weight.
lol- seriously, my feet slid around in my sandals and my running shoes no longer fit, properly.
This is not weird! I went from a size 9 to a size 7! Maybe it's a combo of less fat there + less weight being distributed onto them so that the pads of the feet aren't spread out so far. Just a theory.3 -

I think one of the best unexpected results has been that my confidence/physical health now enables me to do all these things I've always wanted to do... like charity runs or going to carnivals where the dress code is "as few clothes as humanly possible" or meeting friends on the beach and actually taking off my shirt!
Also I had the opposite problem of @kimkakes28... all this time I thought I had big boobs because of my extra weight, turns out I just have big boobs... cue my mother now constantly telling me that I'm too skinny for my boobs
I love this!! haha
One of my favorite unexpected things about weight loss is feeling so much more comfortable dancing (99% of the time in a very silly manner) and clowning around, physical comedy type stuff. I have always been a hyper and hammy type but it used to be mostly just through facial expressions and hand gestures. Getting to a comfortable weight has made me a real clown and dancy-pants type of person which I didn't even know that I wanted to be, for years and years I was more restrained due to my size (not literally...but due to feeling very self conscious).
Don't know about you, but I feel that the increase in all-around confidence isn't really so much about the "new" body but of the "new" mind; after the self-discipline and accomplishment that it takes to lose a large amt of weight (and keep it off, along with new lifestyle) is what changes your level of self-confidence.16 -
When I go in the dressing room and try on a size 12 (from a 22) I still think that the mirrors are set that way to make you look good.....a NSV I bought new pants the other day size 12 and my husband said didnt you try them on before you bought them you need to start buying a smaller size. Now I also bought a size 12 shorts the other day and they are also really big on me I havent really only lost about 5 more pounds but Im starting to think maybe I do need a smaller size and it is not just that they are cut bigger...13

I absolutely love reading these posts. Here are a few for me
Being able to get into the car when somebody parks to close and I cant open the door all the way
Not paying extra for large size clothing
Golf game improve dramatically
Looking at beach chairs and not having to worry about the weight limit of the chair
Actually seeing muscle definition and seeing muscles I haven't seen in years
I wear a light sweatshirt cuz I'm constantly cold at work even when it's 85 degrees outside
I don't seem to sweat as much when I'm exerting myself physically
I was laying on my back at the beach and I went to scratch my stomach and it wasn't there and I felt my rib cage and I could feel the individual ribs had to do it a couple times didn't know what the hell was going on
Don't mind parking far away when I go to the store sometimes I actually do it on purpose

I lost a whole lot more than I am working on now a bunch of years ago. My surprises were that I found bones I didn't remember having. Collar bones for one, hip bones were another and I actually went to my doctor to ask him what that bump was. God, how weird!
Young guys, guys 10+ years younger were really noticing me too. I liked that! A lot! Married one actually.
Now I owe it to HIM and Me to be that person I was back then.8 -
Unexpected result... more tan.
Just because I choose to go outside more and walk instead of taking the car.
(Yes! I put sunscreen! )15 -

The booths in restaurants around here are so tall (and I'm 5'6"!) that the boob shelf thing is always happening!
The only way around it for me is to kick off a shoe and sit on my foot. I'd love to go to a restaurant and not have to sit like a little kid.7 -
I think the biggest unexpected result for me so far has been when I pulled a pair of shorts I hadn't worn since at least the year 2000 out of my chest of drawers and I put them on and they fit!!! I've been wearing them almost every day for the past two weeks, except when they're in the laundry, of course!15

A few years ago it was little lumps of bone on top of my shoulders but in the past few weeks I've gotten pretty low on body fat and I've noticed a lopsided divet on the point of my nose. Of all the places to lose fat, that was the last one I needed.12

I find myself running on the spot in my pj's beside my bed at night if I'm a few hundred to 1000 steps away from my step goal because I don't want to lose my streak.28

It seems like such a small thing, but I used to have chronic heartburn - I bought Tums in bulk and kept a bottle next to my bed, I had to have it at least once a day, sometimes two or three times. Since starting MFP, I've had heartburn exactly once in the past three months. I genuinely makes my life so much better.
I've had acid reflux since I was 7 and let me tell you - that is no small thing!6 -

On the other hand in he summer, I am able to tolerate the heat a whole lot easier.
Now that I have more energy, I often don't need my afternoon nap. I MISS MY AFTERNOON NAP!!!!!!
I so want to get rid ofy afternoon nap and get some work done in that. Guess i will have that energy level one day.

OMG I have that too. In general I just have less cushion! Sitting on my bicycle for long rides hurts my booty so much more now
My wedding ring is also slipping off way too easily. I have got to get this thing resized.

Lack of thigh rub was a huge one for me. I actually like wearing dresses now. LOL!
Another is how much I'm freezing all the darn time.
And how much I love physical exercise
And how incredibly grumpy I get if I don't get my exercise in.
And for the TMI - I have endometriosis. The pain during my periods was insane, but now that I'm normal weight, the pain is gone.
Snap snap snap. If only the doctors would really strictly say "lose weight and we won't need to be seeing you", rather than skirting round the issue as they do. However I blame no one but myself for the state I got in. It's fabulous to read another endo sufferer is managing it with weight
My Doctor was very upfront - "you're obese....obesity is a major contributor to heart disease in women. Can you imagine in 5 years if you have a stroke and your kids have to wipe your *kitten*?" Some may say that's harsh, I absolutely adore my doctor, he is upfront and to the point and my hugest supporter - high fives every time I lose.
I am 50 pounds down (including weight I lost before MFP), I am not sure what my unexpected results are as I still have 50 to go to my first goal.35 -
I am so proud of all of you... you are my motivation!8
