Unexpected results of weight loss

One thing I notice more now is water retention and bloating. 50 lbs heavier I could never understand how people felt bloated or distended, but I do now. I can tell pretty quickly if I'm bloated now. It's strange.
Yes! I can actually SEE when I am bloated now. Also, like a few people mentioned before, the collar bone thing was unexpected. I have switched mostly to bathing suits with removable straps, because they start to irritate my the skin over my collarbones from rubbing after a few hours.3 -

I just noticed the collarbone irritation a few days ago. I especially notice it when I'm driving a lot. The seat belt must hit in just the wrong place.4 -

My old choir teacher didn't recognize me

Just noticing that all my skirt hemlines are dropping. Instead of midcalf they are heading toward my ankle. Weird realising that the hemline was there because of my behind needing to fit in.12

I'm cold, my rings are too big, and I giggle when someone makes me sit on the hump seat in the back of a car because I'm "tiny"! It's expensive to replace a wardrobe! Most of the time I don't see it and feel as though I have everybody fooled.10

Love this!!!7 -
Oh so many, what a lovely idea for a thread!
- No more surgery for endometriosis ( I hope! Last scan showed a reduction in my left endometrioma to way below the size at which they cut them out - good news as this disease has seen me in terrible pain and having major ops!
- No more hives
- No more angiodema
- No more anaemia (the theory behind all this by the way is that excess fat leads to an over production of oestrogen which causes these sorts of heavy period and endometriosis and immune response probs)
- No more chub rub! No more raw thighs!
- No more cracked heels!
- No more asthma!
- Amazing, increased energy
- Men flirt with me again!!!!! I really thought I was beyond ever being sexually attractive to anyone
- New friends from sport
- New hobbies
- Whole new lifestyle
Basically my body and mind could not deal with being 4 st overweight and went into mental and physical meltdown!! It's beyond fabulous to be freed of that!
Cracked heels?? That is awesome! I have that problem now and never knew it could be associated with too much weight!!! I'll be glad to see that go! And the thigh rub for me was my breaking point when I walked a lot at a baseball game Sunday rubbed my thighs raw

Oh I remember the thigh rub and chafing. Being free of that curse is probably my #1 unexpected result, and just for that, I am very motivated to maintain (and lose that last 10 lbs, lol). Wearing shorts and dresses and skirts and walking all day in the heat with not even a hint of irritation. Bliss. I do not want to go back.15 -
No more skin yeast infections in creases.

Flirting... lol, I didn't even recognize it the first few times it happened. The hubs did, though.21

My latest weird discovery is that I can feel my finger bones through the pads of my fingers, thumb bones in particular.
A family member got a giggle out of that when I commented on it. She's always been able to feel hers. Who knew!6 -

Thigh gap in photos
Crossing my legs is easy and feels good.
Bony knees and hip bones pop out while laying down
Sitting in a movie theater is comfortable
Don't hAve to suck myself "skinny" at work when people are trying to get by me. There is plenty of room behind me for them to get by.
Shopping at boutiques again!
Sleep so well at night
Fill up easy on food and feel full.
Can easily was my back in the shower and reach everything!
Loving this life

Being able to see my jawline in the car side mirror while in the passenger seat driving with my husband in our BMW convertible. This was big motivation for me as after starting with mostly a double chin, each week my jaw was a little more defined.11

I have trouble knowing how small I am, and still feel like I need to "shrink" myself to get by someone. Then I realize there is plenty of room and I look kind of silly...13 -
That losing weight is like a train. It starts slow and it's difficult at first, but once the momentum is going it just does not stop. Habits and exercise and energy build in momentum and everything keeps moving forward like a freight train, and the only thing that can stop it is you.53

At work we have protective sweaters, (Im a dental assistant) and a few months ago I wasnt able to button my 3x all the way down. Needless to say, this morning I put one on and began buttoning it and before I knew it I had buttoned the entire sweater with room to spare. still on my journey, but enjoying these victories. From 380lbs in March to 337lbs in June.67

I think I agree with much of what has already been said. It's been super motivating to read everyone's entries. I've done really well myself - not quite there yet, but close. I think one of the things that makes me really happy and is a result of this process, is all of the conversations we have in the house, especially with my kids. While we don't discuss weight, we do talk about living a healthy lifestyle with good quality foods and activity. It's nice to be leading in a positive direction.13

I have one from today!
In the shower if I soap myself with eyes closed I cannot recognise my own body! It feels foreign to me!23
