Thank you for this post, I need perspective too! I am 42years old, 5'4 and started at 180lbs in March 2016. Currently I have lost 30lbs and weigh 150lbs, which was my first major goal. Working on reaching 140lbs next, will reevaluate after reaching that goal!3

I love how much of a range there is for this height! I'm 5"4 and started at 160 ish Gw was 126 but now at 122-125 depending on how much I've eaten! I don't want to lose more per say just keep watching my body get buff4

anywhere between 104-120.1

5'3.5" here. Currently 135 and started at 173. My goal 4 years ago was 130 and I really liked my body when I got there. Anything below 140 feels good and looks asthetically what I personally feel is healthy without looking "chubby" anymore. I've been 128 and was happy with my body, my new goal is 120 to see if I like it better and can have better composition.2

I'm 5'4"
SW 218
CW 157
GW 143 (Ideally 133)
143 is my first goal weight. My realistic, I know I can reach that, goal weight. I came to that number because in the past at that weight, I was not in super shape, but I was athletic and looked good. HOWEVER. I have had two kids. My body now at 157 looks NOTHING like it did when I was 157, before kids. And I am actually internally physically in better shape now than I was back then, but outwardly my body does not reflect that. At my fittest I was 137, so I would like to get back there. Because my body is so much lumpier and looser than it was when I was young however, I am thinking the most I would like to weight is 133. Once there, I will probably do a re-comp.3 -

"Toning up" should be happening WHILE you are losing weight. It is essentially losing fat, but maintaining lean body mass...resistance training in a deficit.5 -
I'm 47 years old and 5'3". My SW was 240 lbs, CW is 158 lbs. My first goal is to reach 140 lbs, or the top end of the normal BMI. I'll reassess at that point, but I was thinking perhaps working down to about 120 lbs.7

As an adult, I've been as low as 106 and as high as 159. 5'4 and current goal is 120, but more importantly, getting to a point where I keep my weight stable. Also, if you're reading this and have similar goals, please hit me up! Would love some ladies on my feed with similar weight goals!!5

I am not quite 5'4" and 119 pounds right now. My starting weight was 149, first goal was 125, then 120, and now I think it's 115. I am 42. I lift heavy and have a small, but muscular frame, but my abs just started showing up in the last 2-3 pounds. By 115 I should have pretty decent definition. "Should." My body likes to lose fat everywhere but around the waistline!3

I'm 47 and 5'3". Starting weight was 286 and I am now at 228. My final goal is also around 130 - 140. That may change as I get smaller. In the past when I have tried to lose weight I have always put a lot of pressure on myself and ended up burning out and gaining everything back. This time, I am trying to keep a more measured approach. So I don't have a real "set in stone" goal. Instead I keep that vague 130 - 140 in the back of my head and focus on shorter term smaller goals. Right now, getting under 200 is my main goal. I haven't been in the "ones" since before my son was born and he will be 20 next month so even that is kind of a big deal for me.9

My goal is 130. My height is 5'4".2

I need to be honest, I'm kind of amazed at the 105-120 lb goals. At 39, even with no kids, that seems completely unrealistic to me. Am I being silly? Or lazy?
Please understand I don't mean to be judgmental. If it's right for you, awesome. But it does make my goal weight of 135 feel schlubby!9 -

It depends on your frame, body composition, and just were you feel comfortable. I originally started with a goal of 130-135, but my goals changed a bit when I got there. I realized my composition wasn't what I wanted it to be (had more fat/less muscle than I wanted). Currently I'm trying to lean out a bit more to prepare for a bulk.3 -
I will soon be 65 and my Dr set my goal at 160 for now and that is because I am very small on top and shoulders are very small ,all my weight is in my butt and thighs. The last place I lose is in my butt and thighs. Right now I wear a size l on top and xxl on bottom and weigh 204. When I was younger I had to weigh 125 to get into a snug 10 on the bottom.1

I don't think it's schlubby! The goal weight that I set for myself in my mid-20s was not the same goal weight that I set for myself at 20 and I would bet $$$ that it won't be the same goal weight that I have for myself at 30.
Then again, I have friends at 36-40 who have 2-4 kids and look better in a bikini than I do... so it's all relative1 -
Started at 275, currently at 259. My first goal is 200, I haven't been there in roughly 8 years and even that was for like, a hot second. I figure I'll maintain that for a bit (maintenance has always been a problem for me), let my skin adjust to the smaller me, then keep going. I've been as low as 115 (high school graduation) but don't feel that's realistic for me now. I'd personally be happy with 150. But once I hit 150, who knows? Maybe I'll want to keep going.2

I have the opposite problem. My butt and legs are good, but my stomach and arms... Ugh.0 -
im 5"4, m start weight was something like 242lbs. am currently around 192lbs and goal weight is 140 ish...for now2

I think your age has alot to do with your goal. I am 56 yrs old and my Dr. said he would be happy if I could get to 150 so that is my goal which I think would be easy to maintain. I am currently at 244 so I have a long way to go.1

I think it's really interesting how many of us have a goal between 130-140. I have had the number 130 in my head since I was a chubby 170lb 13-year-old. How did everyone come by their goal weight number?
I picked a weight I've weighed before and felt most physically comfortable.0 -

I need to be honest too; it's kind of funny to me that when people don't have a goal on the lower end of a healthy BMI they feel the need to explain themselves. "My goal weight is 130 because I have curves/I've had kids/I haven't weighed less than 130 since I was a teenager". For women who are 5'3", a healthy weight range is between 104 pounds and 141 pounds on most BMI charts and that's a pretty big range. I stated earlier in the thread that I'm 108 pounds; I have the body type where that was a feasible/realistic goal for me. I probably eat more food than 70% of the people who are 5'3" and trying to lose weight, so it doesn't take starving yourself to get there either. I haven't had children, but I'm 31 years old and I weigh less now than I ever did in my teens and I still have a shape.
I think if someone is starting out at 200+ pounds that, while 115 or less is an optimistic goal, it's better to have several goal weights instead of one ultimate one. Most people who have lost weight and reached their initial goal weights are able to reevaluate at that point and choose to lose more, maintain, or gain a bit back. However, for people who are 150 pounds, most of them would be surprised by the time they get to 130 that they find they may want to, and can easily, go a bit lower. Everyone has different body types, but I wouldn't say that a goal of 105 to 120 is unrealistic.12 -
I'm 5'4" and 46. I started at 194 and now 175. My happy weight was 135, but I'm exercising so much more now that I'm actually smaller at a heavier weight. I'd like to get to 125 and see if I can maintain there, but right now I'll be happy to get out of the 170s!4

My goal is 130, although 125 would be ideal. I am trying not to focus too much on the number, but more on how clothing fits and how I feel.5

I have a bodybuilding focus, losing body fat and preserving lean mass have been my objectives since I started a year ago2 -
I am 5'3. Started at 178 and I have literally today slid into healthy BMI. First time in my adult life at 23.
CW: 140.6
My initial goal was 147, the weight I was when I met my fiancé. Then I changed to 140, to put me in healthy BMI. Now I'm not losing based on the scale, but how I look and feel. I'm not where I want to be as I still have chub to lose, so I'm revising my goal to 130 for now but if I get to a higher weight where I like my body, I'll stop and start maintenance.8
