Done with fast food.

I recently cut out dairy and before that I would occasionally cheat with fast food. That ends today. I'm tired of being derailed by this greasy demon. It makes me bloated and heavy. DONE. Anyone else done?

I haven't had fast food in about 4 months. I have no self control when it comes to my favorite fast food places like Taco Bell. I would just end up convincing myself it's okay to go over my calories occasionally. And I'd end up binging on 1000+ calories. I know what my triggers are. It's a slippery slope for me. Plus fast food is just too much sodium for me, so generally not worth it. Besides I can make more nutritious meals at home with less calories. Will I eat fast food again at some point? Probably when I feel like I'm in control.8

I just ate 4 of the Cheesy Bean & Rice burritos from Taco Bell. I order mine with just beans and rice though because they use nacho cheese rather than shredded "semi-real" cheese and I think it's taste strange.
Fast food doesn't have to be greasy. And the nutrition facts are so much more easily accessible than they used to be.
Only you can decide what's best for your own body but I would encourage you to research it further and apply logic. I feel like fast food is demonized right out of the gate. There are sound options out there though.

I never cut out any food groups or any of my favorite foods, but I did stop eating fast food over four years ago, partly because of the poor quality ingredients, partly because of the poor pay and working conditions of the employees, and partly because it's so easy to keep eating it. If I want a hamburger, or French fries or whatever, I make it myself or go to a nice restaurant. It's worked out just fine and I only eat those things occasionally.7

@ClubSilencio you are in amazing shape. I am fluffy, had a baby a few months ago, and my body is more sensitive to food now! But seriously more power to you! Eat those burritos Bruh! Those carbs make me feel like a balloon. Lol1

Right on ladies! I have similar feelings with both your statements. Sugar is my downfall. I had to cut out sodas because I can't have just one I'll have 3. I don't eat candy anymore, I don't eat snack cakes, I allow myself an occasional sweet tea and I eat natural sugar like fruit to keep me in check.2

I try to tell myself that I'm never going to eat fast food again, but then my family always wants to go and eat McDonald's or Wendy's or something.
I just try to pick the item with the fewest preservatives and move on with life.2 -
To each their own. I still eat fast food, but I'm very careful about what I order now and I always make sure I have enough calories left for it. Haven't ordered a combo in probably two months now.3

I'm not here to try to knock the fricken McNuggets from your mouths. Lmao a joke but seriously I loved my cheat meals but It's hard finding dairy free options when you eat fast food. And the carbs kill me. But yeah I'm not trying to change anyone's ways but my own. Carry on in the drive thru friends. Hopefully I'll be able to stay away from Taco Bell.4

I'm not done, road trips are too hard to bypass fast food. There are things you could order without going over your calorie allotment.3

With the exception of last January when I had to move into a house with nothing in it for 2 weeks (military move) I haven't eaten fast food for most of the last 10 years. (and then I was only eating subway) To me I think it takes just as much time to drive to the fast food place, order, drive home, and eat. Costs more money and my health.
although not gonna lie when I move to California I'm going to In and Out at least once. Protein style cheeseburger lol always wanted to try it (but I lived in the midwest)2 -
I think everyone should have in and out at least once even though I'm in Texas and it's all about whataburger. Lol that's all my skinny boyfriend likes to eat must be nice. But yeah! Road trips could be a foreseeable problem. We go to Houston every few months and I'm going to have to make it work!0

Sometimes it's unavoidable...when I go, I order less than I used to....instead of a burger and fries, I will get one or the other. Sometimes, maybe its just a milkshake.3

You asked if anyone else was done. That doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you, they're just sharing their experiences. You do you and they'll do them. Post in a forum and you will get a range of opinions.
Personally, I've never been a massive fast food eater but sometimes I get an itch that only a McChicken sandwich can scratch. It's easy for me to fit into my goals and as it's not something I crave regularly I have no problem with indulging sometimes.2 -
Yes and I understand that I'm in a forum and will get different opinions it was a joke. Lol sorry I didn't mean to come of offensively. I'm just a bitter lady who misses eating cheese and drinking milk not derived from nuts so don't pay me any mind! @VintageFeline on a side note I loved McDonald's fries so much sodium though.2

That's how I eat it too, one hamburger and a diet cook. No more than 500 calories per meal. A shake would be filling too!1 -

No matter what you post on mfp you're bound to offend someone, annoy others, or (and usually) just cause arguments. Some people are big into calorie= calorie. Some are low carb, low fat, vegan, paleo, etc which can cause conflicting issues.
For what it's worth I understood the point of your post and I wish you luck with it. I think (notice my opinion) people shouldn't eat fast food but maybe once a month at most. If they did they'd be more healthy.6 -
If I can't have fries I'm not eating it! Fries might just be my kryptonite. God bless exercise making them easier to fit into my day sometimes!
As for sodium, meh, I have no blood pressure issues so aside from temporary water weight gain it's no issue to me to eat salty food.3 -
@FaylinaMeir in their defense sometimes I'm an asshat! Lmao I seriously appreciate all the responses I've gotten and hope I can make adjustments needed based on my special diet! Fast food is just easier sometimes especially as Liz brought up about Roadtrips. I need to have a few meals on hand that are low cal low carb for those instances and cut it out otherwise as much as possible for me! Thanks for your input!0

I don't eat fast food..but I don't think of it as a greasy demon either. I just think other foods taste better and it hurts my stomach. If I want a burger there are tons of places I can go to get a GOOD burger with delicious cheese and grassfed beef.3

man i love fast food. I just ate taco bell for dinner.. if im so hungry that i/we park and eat in the car and watch netflix i bring my food scale and weigh it and log it. It may seem ridiculous but if i cut it out i WILL binge "because i GOTTTA EAT IT ONE LAST TIME" i discovered a couple things at taco bell/chick fil a/in n out that fit in my cals are just as satisfying as going bat *kitten* crazy trying to eat everything before i "never eat it again" i eat it maybe one a week or so.. it just works for me.2

Putting something on a no-no list isn't a good idea for me, so, no, I haven't cut out fast food. I had a Taco Bell Baja Breeze freeze today (so hot here). I had a couple of Filet-o-Fishes earlier in the week. I am eating a lot less of it, though, because I was shocked at how much sodium is in it.1

Yaaaas Taco Bell. I was eating their chalupas as a cheat as they are dairy free without cheese and sour cream but alas, it just makes me feel like crap. It's so good though. Makes me miss my drunken taco Bell drive thru days that I took for granted. Lol2

I got bad food poisoning at Taco Bell about 10 or more years ago and haven't been back since LOL. Don't eat much fast food but it would be awesome if all of them had calorie counts. There's still a few where I live that don't.1

This always cuts my responses off. Lol dang if. You poor soul! My friend gets sick everytime he eats Taco Bell. I get that way with jack in the box. It makes me feel terrible. No matter what I eat there.0

I cut down to almost never eating fast food, carryout, and dining out. Generally portions are just too much or break the carbs and or fat goals and generally contains a lot more sodium that it should have or needs. However I have found that one or two things aren't all that bad. For example Wendy's chili seems to be reasonable all around on the nutritional values. Though a little high in sodium. But even making my own food from scratch, unless I am using entries with the wrong sodium counts for the stuff I use to make the food, is high in sodium and daily it is over the preset goal by around 2,000mg.1

Sweet! I've never tried there chili. I may not cut it all out for convenience sake. Will keep chili in mind next time I'm in need of a fast fix for when we are traveling! Depending on ingredients. Lol0

See wendy's website for the nutritional info for it. Depending on your daily nutritional needs it may be fine for an occasional in a pinch kind of thing.2
