Pip, look at those thigh muscles! UHM UHM GOOD. I can't even imagine riding 3 miles much less 24. And he is going for 60! He is amazing.

Charleen, that quilt is so beautiful. I had never seen that pattern. There is no way I could put my quilts here, your look so perfect. But mine were made for me to sleep under, also one for my grand daughter's first big girl bed. None of them were made to be entered into a show.

We are home. Charlie just weighed himself, has lost 8 pounds since going in. I need to go buy some iron tablets for him. His hemoglobin runs around 8.5 - 9. Normal should be 12 or 12. They transfuse around 8. He went down to 7.7 when it goes to around 8. His Mom had to have iron transfusions to help hers. The doctor subbing in for our family doctor said it can be inherited. I guess that's another thing my girls should look forward to. They get all the back problems from my Mom and me, also sinus infections and autoimmune problems.

Joyce, you do such a great job at taking care of Charlie, he is one lucky guy.

Pip - Cute picture, especially because in the corner of the picture is one of the pups sleeping too... You both have done amazing to come back from what you both have been through.

Charleen ~ Love that quilt...the colors and design are so pretty.

Heather ~ Thanks for sharing your pics. You DnL is so thin and healthy/happy looking. And your GKs are cute.

Joyce ~ Glad you got Charlie home.

Pip ~ Kirby looks tired. Amazed at what he does after all he went through with the accident.

Dr Kay & Re ~ You both look amazing.

We took the DnL and GKs to Chinese today. I think I did well. Ate 1/2 steamed rice and some cashew chicken. Know it was too salty but hope I didn't go over too much. My 6 yr old GS is a chow hound. He is not overweight at all but loves his food. During the last check up the Dr. said he was the size of a 2nd grader (he's starting first grade). Think he's going to be a large man when he grows up.

I have re-evaluated my goals on here, and realistically put my goal weight. Because TOPS wanted a doctors note saying the my goal weight should be 150 lbs, doesn't mean I wish it. Presently I just want to be under 200 lbs. Seeing the ticker read my weight lost, not how much I need to go, is more positive for me too.

Keep on doing what we do best, support, smile and persevere!

Pip~ Bless that powerful man of a husband of yours! I think we as their mates, have a more hard time dealing with all they go thru. We can still remember the hardships, and like you, I marvel at all my husband can do. Men aren't hardwired to ponder, or dwell, they just carry on. Which is their fail-safe switch. Us women are driven by emotions, being the caregivers of the world don't ya know... So we look at the world with care, and appreciate. Do you look at Kirby and he looks at you saying, "WHAT???" Mine does that all the time... lol

Hello again, and thanks for the warm welcome.

So, about me. I spent most of my life thin, and could eat what I wanted. I had a short period in my 30s where I had gained weight - maybe 10 or 15 pounds. Went on a diet and lost the weight fairly easily.

But, then I turned 40 and everything went crappy. Weight gain (40-50 lbs) and massive migraines. I’ve been fighting with this for almost 15 years now.

I’ve tried lots of diets, but I don’t really stick with them so well. Both for my head and my weight.

I did do the Whole30 in June (except for stevia and whole cream in my coffee). Maybe lost 3 pounds. But, it is back. I am following that still, sort of.

I have many food issues because of my migraines, which means there are things I can’t eat without my head exploding. In the past few weeks my migraines have started settling down, so that is great. I’m working with a naturopath doctor to get my hormones and some vitamin levels straightened out.

I want to feel good again, and start aging better. It seems like every time I start to have energy, I over do it (and I’m not talking about doing much), and injure myself.

I decided to do MFP because I thought tracking what I ate (composition/calories) might help. I already track a lot because of my head, but not for weight. What, but not how much.

I’m still working on my plans for diet/exercise. I do all of my own cooking and can’t eat anything processed. My knee getting hurt was my latest injury, and it is better, but still a little unstable and clicking when walk.

I work from home as an online math teacher, and sit at the computer way too much. Over 12 hours yesterday. I am finally caught up with my work! (But, I’ll have more papers coming in soon.)

I live in Northern California with my little dog.

It is already 91 degrees today, but better than the 100s we were having last week.

A question for all you gardeners... I am over run! by voles at my camp garden... it is organic and I need a good quick way to get the population out... any one had any success? I've looked on line, and nothing seems to be a good answer that is non-poison.... in fact the only thing I am finding that seems to be consistent is snap traps... ugh! I can go that route, but yuck.

Charleen your quilts are gorgeous. Being a quilter myself I know how much went into creating those beautiful blankets.

We are home! The dog was thrilled when we picked him up from the vet's this morning. We had a great trip to the DC area and a fun visit with our DS and DDIL. I am glad to be back, and may be chatting about things we did & saw for several days. Who knows? I had much less than usual control over food so I'll see what the scales say in the morning.

Charleen: Which fair? And how long will your quilt be there? I'd love to try to see it in person.

Pip: I'm so proud of you and Kirby. Together you can do anything. <3

Joyce: Hoping, wishing and praying that you and Charlie will get better and stronger everyday.

Can't believe that July is over. Didn't make my goal of being lighter. Instead I'm up .4, which doesn't concern me- I can see my body changing.

Loved the article on cellulite. I can see the dimensions of my thighs coming down, more muscle is showing, but dang the 'cottage cheese' remains the same. After spending most of my life living in warm places, I've gotten over the stigma and have worn swim suits and shorts with nary a care. B)

August will be fun. Tuesday I'm heading to NYC for two days (one will be the company picnic), then I'll be in West Texas for a week. It looks promising that I'll meet Lisa in Alpine! How cool is that? Unfortunately won't be going past that giant roadrunner. :o

Stay well friends. We can do this.

Kim: How about a barn cat for your garden? My boy Mars is 'hired' out by our neighbors to repel rabbits and voles. They swear it makes a difference having him walk around their flower beds. And he works cheap! A piece of turkey and he's a happy kitty.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

Katanus, welcome. Glad you have started back and hope you can stick with us. This is a great place for support and information. Please sign each post with the name you want to be called.

Kim, I like the “God moving furniture” thought for thunder too. Sounds better than picturing a bowling alley. Lol Too funny about the Dublin weather.

MicheleNC, the class was basically a 6 hour session on rules and regulations. It was also a good time to socialize with some of the members. Speaking of trying new things to cook, at the Moose yesterday the lady doing the breakfast brought a dish somewhat like a bread pudding. It had cut up croissants, chocolate chips and a mixture with cream cheese, eggs and sugar poured over it before baking. That is the sort of thing that I have no will power against so I did have some and it was delicious! Gonna have to get the boot out after myself!!! Sorry to hear Jess has gained weight.

Lisa, congrats on meeting your goals this month!

Kelly, what a bummer about the ticket. I know you would have preferred to spend that $$ on something else.

Heather, how nice that your DGD “likes salt” if she’s going to be jumping in the ocean. Lol

NYKaren, glad your DH is considering a rental. When my DD went off to college I didn’t think much of it as she had always been so independent. BUT that first few weeks were so hard. I felt like I was in mourning. OMG. I did get used to it and was fine. I mean she was only 2 hours away which I’d love now, rather than her being all the way across the country in Oregon. crying.gif

KarenVA, what wonderful memories of that trip with your mom. That is priceless.

Charleen, the quilt is beautiful!!!! I can only imagine how many hours it takes.

Pip, congrats on all you did in the challenge. That is a wonderful picture of Kirby sleeping. You wore him out!!!

Katla, glad you had a wonderful trip and made it home safely. It seems no matter how much fun we have, it’s always nice to get home.

Rori, it is wayyyy cool that you get to meet so many of our group. Safe travels. You should have trained Mars not to work so cheap, but how nice that he can help out the neighbors.

pretty-pink-welcome-smiley-emoticon.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

We did go to the beach and it was a great day. When we arrived it was overcast and at one point it rained a few random drops. There was a nice sea breeze as usual and just a lovely day. I don’t know how “sitting at the beach” can be so exhausting but DH and I both took a little nap after we got home. I just not finished my shower and going to go have a light dinner. See you ladies next month.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day! rainbow-smiley-emoticon.gif

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
