Unexpected results of weight loss

For some reason I prefer wearing my fiancé slippers around the house.Even though his feet are way bigger than mine, I still wore them because as fat as my feet were I could put them on and the fat would keep them from falling off when I walk.They fell off this morning and I took a look at my feet and I can see my ankle bones and whatever those other bones are.My toes look tiny and I have never been so excited about my feet.I know I am about to do a lot more pedicures than I used to.11

I need to get a new Medic Alert bracelet. The old one is so loose on me now that it slides past my wrist and halfway down my hand. I could easily slide it off my hand if I wished. My wedding ring fell off at home awhile back, so I now wear it on one of my larger fingers to make sure I don't lose it. I had it resized twice in the past (I've gained and lost weight many times in the 20 years I've had the ring), and I probably shouldn't do so again.
Some good medical results:
1. My edema is much less.
2. While I still experience a lot of arthritis pain, the joints move more easily now with less stress on the weight-bearing areas, especially my knees. I am hoping this will lead to a slower progression of my autoimmune arthritis.
3. My glucose levels are so good now that I don't have to worry about being in the diabetic range at all, as long as I continue eating healthy.
4. I'm no longer getting lectured by my doctors.17 -

I still don't bother with the mirror often, but I happened to look into one a few days ago. I have dimples? Where did they come from? How long have they been there?!
I used to be the only one of the kids without dimples. Ha! No more!20 -

It's amazing how often (skinny) friends and colleagues tell me that a piece of fruit or a slice of rye bread as a snack is 'really not healthy' because fruit is full of sugar or rye bread has loads of calories. Compared to candy bars or a burger, I think I am making better choices! People should respect how far someone has travelled before they criticise where they are right now.40

As others have said...the butt bones hurt while on my bike now or doing certain floor exercises that I used to have the padding for and I no longer do...wow does it make a difference! Also in bed I'm a side sleeper and my knees feel so bony now. These were 2 things that made an uncomfortable difference but not complaining here!! I love my shoulders, arms, chest and back...and my leg curves as well. I like seeing the definition of how our human body is supposed to actually look. We weren't meant to have fat rolls on us. Something that I still do is when I put my weight into my bike or elliptical, I keep putting my heavier weight. I've lost 28 lbs now so I just have to realize that I am smaller now. As someone else mentioned, sometimes I feel like I'm not "allowed" to be shopping for the smaller clothes and that people will find it odd...but then I remember that I am a size 6/8 now and no longer a 10/12 and I actually look like a size 6/8 female and not just squeezing into them. It's a great feeling to wake up every day and feel like no matter what, I'll look pretty nice in my clothes. It truly is one of the best feelings in the world to be able to eat good food and still lose weight all by counting calories. This is a great thread!! Congrats to all of you who are on this journey. So encouraging to read your stories!16

I am surprised at how long it is taking my brain to catch up. I've been at maintenance since April. Yesterday while at a store I noticed some cute clothes and went to check the price - then I realized I was in the plus-size section, which hasn't fit me in probably a year and a half. I had walked right past the clothes in my current size because I had assumed they were for teens. Well, they are, sort of, because it's the same size I wore in high school21

I get cold so much quicker! Lol that was the first thing I noticed after I lost a majority of my weight, I used to stay hot all of the time but now I carry a small jacket with me every where. That & of course, the infamous tail bone rubbing against EVERYTHING lol7

A bit of a tmi. But better being able to wrap my legs around my lover: something I had lost before. I've only lost around 20 pounds, but I cant wait to see what the remainkng 50 brings me23

I was trying to do superman exercises on my carpeted living room floor. I can no longer do that without some kind of extra padding. And by extra padding I mean that my yoga mat was ineffective. I need a freaking pillow.6

I hit a healthy weight in October 2015, so 9 months ago, and I STILL have to take pictures in the mirror and look at the pictures to see the "real" me. The mirror still lies...by at least 20 lbs. and sometimes way more.
Oh, and last night we went out for dinner (Longhorn) and I commented on how far I felt from the table! We decided that booths were no longer the more comfortable seating option for us. I've lost 77 lbs. and am officially at a healthy weight, although I'd like to lose 10 more lbs., hubs has 13 lbs more to go to get to the top of his healthy range on the BMI scale.16 -

That's how I feel. I look in the mirror and see no noticeable changes, and my thighs still look quite thunderous, but when I look at pics, I'm like "Oh, that doesn't look as bad as I thought"!

I'll never get my 6'6" OH to give up the booth, but I can't fit them because sitting in them makes me feel like a 6 year old! I'm a foot shorter than him, but it feels ridiculous not to be able to sit up high enough to see past my plate without sitting on my feet.4 -

This has to be one of the best threads on MFP ever!
It's only been a month and no-one's noticed the 4kg loss (yet!) apart from me. I'm making an effort this time around not to bore everyone to tears with healthy eating chat. Within a week I could feel new muscles on the tops of my thighs- the quick results really motivated me to keep going! Summer is becoming less insufferable even though it's getting warmer and I'm actually looking forward to exercising instead of dreading it. I feel uncomfortably full on much smaller portions now.8 -
Finding 'new' bones and muscles. The muscles I love, the bones, not so much, I keep banging elbows/ankles on things. I feel strangely more 'vulnerable' as a less hefty person, odd feeling, like I'm less protected - I definitely wore my fat as a barrier, both physical and psychological.
Being totally cool with leaving food once I'm full. Took a long time to get out of the mindset of having to clear my plate, now I can push away a half eaten meal and not feel guilty/sad.
Spending ages making comparison photos and staring at them in disbelief!
The biggest, however, is how hard I've found it to get my head round buying UK12s, I've never been lower than a size 14 since I was in my mid-teens. I *still* habitually pick up the bigger sizes. Oh and, despite me always saying I hated clothes shopping, full stop, actually, I don't, I just hated shopping when I was bigger. I now want ALL THE CLOTHES!!

Buying a WHOLE NEW wardrobe is EXPENSIVE! I wore jeans & t-shirts until I hit my goal weight, and THEN I bought real clothes....cute skirts & tops, suits, dresses. Holy Moly! Expensive! Thank goodness for outlets & eBay!15

We just had a pool put in. I used to float LIKE A BOSS. Now after a 70+ pound loss, I sink like a rock. Can't float at all. That was really unexpected! How is that I could float when I was heavier and can't now that I'm lighter? That seems to defy physics20

I had the same problem; I put it down to the fat acting like a buoyancy aid. I had to learn to swim again - it used to be so easy when I was obese.8 -

Fat floats, just like oil rises to the top of a glass of water. The same thing happened to me!14 -
I've always assumed this is the reason that I cant swim underwater, my bum always floats to the top and my fingers and toes are almost touching the bottom of the pool. LOL x15

I've lost 95 pounds, reached a healthy weight and still float like a scoop of ice cream on top of a glass of root beer.17

I think i look awesome in the mirror but when im not looking in the mirror i feel i look Like i did before. Still getting used to it i guess.19
