An average Banana contains around 150 cal and about 30g of sugar (which is the same that's in an average sized mars bar) It doubles the sugar and cal that you find in most other fruits portions.
    So what?

Bananas are not good or bad, they are bananas. If it fits in your day calorie and macro-wise, go to town.
    Bravo!

Well, sometimes a banana is just a banana. Back in the dark ages when I was in college they were used by peer health for certain sorts of how-to demonstrations. Maybe that's why all the mystique and the overestimation of their size? Hmm.

    I...

    OK, then.

    And?

They taste good and are nutritious. I have a small one, about 90kcal worth, on my muesli or porridge, in the morning. If I go over my calorie allowance on any given day, it's not the banana that's the culprit!

Wow I didn't know that. I hope you're just proving your point on potassium rather than advocating substituting them.

Nah, just pointing out that they have Potassium. If you were to substitute as a method of getting more potassium, you'd have to deal with (among other things) an additional 378 cals!

I eat three bananas every day, and oh, by the way, you die without sugar.
Were you aware of this? Yes, too much is bad just like too much sun is bad, but try living without the sun... :p

And now I'm craving a Mars bar. Good thing I'm on the bus home from the shops because they're always best left as a craving because the reality is always such a disappointment.

If you want to eat freakin' bananas eat them. If you don't and you think they're evil don't eat them. Whichever position you take bananawise, be happy with it and stop trying to convince the rest of us that your position is blessed by the Nutrition Deities. Too many people here are threatened by people who believe differently than they do.

This is true. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

    I blame Freelee.

Anyway - for me, I can't stand bananas. I wish I liked them, but as a kid I got a super mushy one in my lunchbox and it oozed everywhere and I smelled mushy banana for weeks even though my mom cleaned it. Now I have a huge aversion to them... so I'm going with bad.

Not really a fan of Mars bars either though.

On to the next thread = Blueberries vs M&Ms. Both are small and easy to eat by the handful. One melts in your mouth, not in your hands, the other, well, it can turn your palms purple for days. Decisions, decisions...

Freelee that imbecile. I can't believe she hasn't been shut down/silenced for the absolute nonsense she spews. 15 bananas a day or was it 30? Smh.

... eat an under-ripen banana, it contains bit lesser sugars than a fully ripe one.

It's only bad if it's brown and then it should be turned into banana muffin or banana bread

I have them fried for breakfast sometimes. Two eggs and a fried banana. Delicious! Slice it into pieces, put some no stick cooking spray or a tsp of butter in a pan and cook until the bananas start to turn brown.

Peanut butter ice cream would go nice with that (I've been eating peanut butter Magnums for days, they are gorgeous!)
