Sometimes there's a movie you just can't touch for fun
Given the upcoming Holiday
What movie scary or otherwise truly unsettles you that it's like really scary?
Mine is Pet Semetary .. really *kitten* creeps me out

Ooo...Pet cemetary is a good one. Some roads make me think of that scene when the boy go hit.
I can't watch Candy Man. Seen bits and pieces, but can't watch the whole thing. Creeps me out.1 -
I'm a tough cookie when it comes to horrors, always looking for a new film to scare the girlfriend with though so - I'll be reading through these!!
Not so much 'scary' but, weirded me out a bit - The Others
Creepy film but it's one of my Halloween favourites!!3 -
Sometimes I am still haunted by things that happened in the movie Memento. Not scary like a horror movie. But, you learn things as you go that add emotions to the story. I don't usually watch scary movies, though.0

For some reason I can't watch The Blair Witch Project. I know it's fake, but it really scares me. My favorite is The Exorcist!3

The exorcist .. The omen.. Those creep me out big time!2

Stephen King's "The Howling" --- saw it as a 9 year old. The special effects of the shape shifting (sounds like bones breaking - seemed like it was super painful) gave me nightmares for years. Recently rewatched it and while not scared per se still creeped out by the special effects.1

I read a book many years ago about the real story of the exorcist, I think it was called The Devil in St. Louis or something similar. It was pretty interesting.0 -

The Conjuring 2 was also quite disturbing
I also love scary movies. As a kid everything scared me...ghosts, aliens, I couldn't sleep. They don't scare me anymore. I will get startled at the jump scares but once the movie is over it doesn't bother me. As long as it's not ET.
This used to scare the *kitten* outta me when I was tot haha
love this movie today though1 -
Scariest movie? That's easy.

blair witch is the only movie that really scared me....especially when their friend goes missing and they can hear him screaming for help late at night! that whole standing towards the wall while she kills another person first was really creepy too0 -
i get freaked out by realistic, disturbing movies that can be interpreted as 'horror' like Elephant (it's about a high school shooting); Frozen (not the cartoon haha) and Open Water5

I just saw Open Water on cable yesterday. So glad I hung in there to THE END!! Wow
A scene in Pulp Fiction had my heart literally racing first time I saw it. When Butch (Bruce Willis) escapes but then stops to select his weapon of choice before going back to the basement to help Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rjames)
OMG the tension in that sequence was intense.

Oh yeah... Poltergeist! Everyone always used to tell me I looked like the little girl from Poltergeist when I was a kid (my hair was platinum blond then).1

Blair Witch and The Ring really messed me up for a while... I couldn't look at circles or trees for a while and heaven forbid a fly land near me! lol

Depends on what gets under your skin. The thought of home invasion freaks me out, so movies like Funny Games and Them are pretty terrifying to me (the Strangers, a bit less so). Borderland was cult-type scary. House of the Devil had isolation creepiness. Wolf Creek was a good far-from-home scare. Calvaire, Audition, and the Poughkeepsie Tapes were painful in that feeling-of-dread kind of way. The Babadook grew pretty creepy. That Spanish one with the creeptastic hotel worker who slept under one woman's bed at night (can't remember the name) was creepy. The Tunnel and The Descent were good underground scares. And I held my breath through most of Frozen (not the Disney one!!), so that was unsettling, but maybe not typically "scary." So many good ones. Buttttt... The Shining is still my ultimate scare.2

The Conjouring made me scream like a little girl in the theater. I haven't seen the 2nd one yet.0
