@tristamtrent - bike pics coming, hopefully tomorrow. Haven't even ridden it yet, other than back from the bike shop - still waiting for the light brackets & new lights to come into stock.

That's not a typo. That was a 600 km randonnee attempt ... but being sick so much lately meant that I haven't trained enough and just didn't have the strength to do the whole 600 km. We made it to 390 km and that was that.

I finally made a bike ride, (sort of) after stalking this group for 2-3 months.

35 minutes in the bike trainer!

    Guess I'll set a goal 2-3 days a week.

I had hip surgery about 4 months ago and was given permission to try the trainer upright. As I suspected I can not kick out on the surgery side. But I can kick in, maybe that'll work.

90.3km of 200km October goal done

Really cold and rainy weather this week. Monday and Tuesday it was dry in the morning, so I took the bike to work (had to cycle home in the rain both days, but for the way home it doesn't bother me so much, since a hot shower and dry clothes aren't far away). Wednesday and Thursday it was already raining heavily when I woke up, couldn't bring myself to take the bike in that weather. And today it started raining about 2min after I left home; so I got to spend the entire morning at work in wet jeans. Joy...
At least it wasn't raining tonight, so I was finally motivated to do my first "long" ride of the month (by my standards at least ;) ).
Still, I think sooner or later I'll have to buy some rain gear, if I want to keep riding my bike in winter...

@35dollars Were are still waiting for the new bike pics ;-)

    @Machka9 390km?! Wow, that's way beyond impressive!!

@Elise4270 That's so great that you are finally cleared to ride a bike, I'm very happy for you

Marathon went well (3:04), but definitely kept me off the bike during the taper and recovery period.

Finally got in my team hurl and whirl ride yesterday, but luckily the fastest guy skipped the ride as he was recovering from the Ironman World Championships in Kona, and the other Kona racer was still in recovery, so the pace was a much more manageable 25-28mph. Got in an easy ride with a neighbor this afternoon. Planning something longer tomorrow, then will get in my last 120 mile training ride Wednesday before starting my taper for Ironman Florida.

    10/1 - 80 miles
    10/14 - 17 miles (team ride)
10/15 - 40 miles (slow recovery w. some threshold intervals)

    Total: 137 miles
    Goal: 400 miles
    Remaining: 263 miles

    2016 Bike Race Schedule:
    Ironman 70.3 Florida - Apr 10 - 5:07:51 (21mph 56 mile time trial bike split)
    Ironman 70.3 Augusta - Sep 25 - 4:43:56 (22.3mph 56.5 mile time trial bike split)
    Ironman Florida - Nov 5

@35dollars Great new bike! The black-and-white look is really classy.

I just rode round on the parking lot today. Finally a ride with my clip-in pedals! I bought them weeks ago (more like two month now). Right after getting them I tried practicing inside while leaning against a wall. But I just couldn't figure out how to clip in, so I thought trying them outside would be even worse.
Fortunately, it turned out that clipping in while moving is much easier! All in all, I did about 3km of start-stop clip-in clip-out exercises.
If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I might be brave enough to try them on the way to work. Although then I'll probably forget that I'm clipped and fall over the first time I have to stop, it still takes a lot of concentration to remember to turn my foot before stopping...

Thanks! :) Long distance cycling is my favourite and it does feel good to be getting back into it again. :)
