trooworld Pretracking is a good idea. Problem is me remembering to do it. lol I need to work on my step goal too.
gemwolf I got in my 15 treadmill. I swear the only reason I did is that I challenged you. lol
cbabie Yaay on the tracking. My dh fell on vacation in May and he injured two discs in his neck and his shoulder was damaged. His started with the headeaches. Does your insurance pay for chiropractor visits? Another thing helped was massages and a hand massager. Plus we bought this little thing at Walmart that sends little electric charges into the affected area. It's like a TENS unit they use in physical therapy only cheaper and smaller. It's portable He has arthritis in two other discs in his neck.
lore Good to see you again. Wow only eight lbs away from goal. That's awesome. Aging parents are hard. My motherinlaw lives with me now.
peru I saw you lost 5 lbs so you must be doing something right. What day are you going to the Y this week.
mysticlizard. Good luck with your dentures. That word is a 4-letter word to me because of my motherinlaw. lol
She has dementia and so really can't help herself but she wears them only for decor. When she eats she pulls them out no matter how many times we tell her. Or she will take a bite and then put them in and then pull them out. Then back and forth til I get fed up and say just put them on the table til you are done. So back at it tomorrow on the food and exercise.
I was under quite a bit today with calories That's unusual. A good thing though

1) Tell each other your biggest challenge that you faced today or yesterday
The biggest challenge was to take care of ME
2) Give one reason why you are following your program.
Because I want my health, I want to be active, mind alert, no doctors, live to enjoy my family and to serve God with the body he gave me.
Now compare that to this: I have been extremely busy..so busy that I haven't visited you guys, logged, or exercised. The weekends are tough on me as my DH sleeps forever and I am always on the move, never at home.
See the disconnect. I think that little episode was your body warning you. We all care about you. So it sounds like on the weekend you take care of everyone but you. I think you mentioned before that your treadmill was in the bedroom. Could you take a walk outside or do a Leslie Sansone video from Youtube on your computer in another room. If something were to happen to you and you ended up in the hospital or on chemo, all those things that keep you running would fall by the wayside or as usual someone else would have to step up and do them. Say YES to yourself.
trooworld I'm like that when I'm sick. I want comfort food. The good thing is that you recognized your craving and distracted yourself. That didn't happen for me. So what's the difference between restaurant ramen and the instant kind. Other than the obvious lol
gemwolf Yaaay on feeling better My cat hated going to the vet. She would sense it I swear. OK let's do the exercise this week and crank up our metabolism.
mysticlizard YES on exercise and eating right. I see some lbs gone in your future.
Anyone eat any cauliflower yet? Tonight I made cauliflower nachos. I added some dollops of refried beans since I didn't have any guacamole. It was delicious.

Slightedge.... The Cauliflower Nachos look awesome. I am trying to play catchup on reading all the posts. You may have already given the recipe for the Nachos, but would you mind telling me how you fix them?1 -
Sorry to hear that a few of you have been unwell. No sickness here. I'm feeling great. 7kgs down. My skin is clear, I'm sleeping well. Low Carb high fat eating has stopped that bloated feeling and energized me.
I have been doing the LCHF eating for the past week and so far it is working. I don't quite have as much energy as I would like yet but I read when you first start eating that way, you would not. Any tips or pointers would be much appreciated. Good luck to you!!!1 -
Morning gals:
I struggled with a horrible headache yesterday afternoon...I finally went to bed around 7:45, slept for 2 hours was wide awake, but made myself go back to sleep after a bit..I am feeling better. no headache.
I logged all my food and yesterday was not so good, but I was reading Lore's post and I agree I felt so much better when I was doing the low carb. I just took it to the extreme as I always do and didn't finish my race.
I am going to go get on my treadmill and get my day moving in the right direction.
@lore11a glad to see you posting. I know about aged parents. I only have one now, but he is a mess. I am really feeling quite low about his situation. I am so busy and don't seem to have the time to take care of him as I should.
@theslightedgeforever LOL you should do more challenges for yourself, I think that is what motivates you. Sorry to hear about your DH...my dad is so into gadgets for health..and he is so unhealthy..EX EMT will get you every time. I have one of the ones they use in therapy. He had two and gave me one. never used it. Reminds me of when I was i therapy with my knee.
@peruviansweetie Good to see you gal!! I am sure you are busy..you like the way slightedge ask you about the Y? LOL that's what we are here for is to encourage each other. I am happy to see you looking at what you need and not all about the kids and DH.
@mysticlizard my DH has dentures, but he doesn't take care of them and never really learned how to eat with them. Something he eats without and some with. I just want to smack him..the grandkids of course love to see
his teeth come in and out..I am sure you are loving your new smile!! Yep you got this,,smile, car, healthy body...keep going girl!!

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is going to do at least one fun thing this weekend.
@theslightedgeforever - I'm sorry, I had to chuckle about your MIL. I used to have an uncle that kept his teeth in his bib overall pocket. He would put them in at the table and back in his pocket when he was through.
@cbabie - I managed to to eat mushrooms today with them in, without them popping out. I was thrilled though it took me a long time to eat. I will get it eventually. Even though your eating wasn't right at least you logged it. That is a victory in itself.
@lore11a - I found a cauliflower nacho recipe online that I am going to try tomorrow. If it turns out I would be happy to give it to you.
@gemwolf110 - How is your fur baby doing?
I did not get my hour of exercise in but I am doing well on my eating. I'm just trying to get a lot done around the house before we go to TX on Thursday. I am thinking about eating strategies to use while on the road. I would appreciate any ideas that any of you have used or have heard of.
I hope everyone has a nice evening.1 -
morning team!!
Well today is a new day and to me a new week. I always start my week on Saturday. I hope to make this one a productive and healthy week. I was so discouraged over some personal things today I broke and cried...I heard a song on the radio that made me STOP IT...it says...soldier keep moving, it's not over yet...so I am hear with
my battle gear on...saying it's not over yet..I will win this battle in all things.
getting my exercise in will be tough today as I am not home a lot today, but I am going to try!!
tracking is a must..that's like going into the battle without my battle plan.
@mysticlizard I am not sure about traveling strategies...I don't travel too much.
yea for you for your eating and not giving up.
@gemwolf110 sounds like the puppy and dogs are keeping you active...great plan LOL
Okay gals..gotta run get in the shower.
enjoy your Sat, I will try to check back in later today. Have to get ready for the Christmas pageant practice, take my dad to get his groceries, clean house, meal plan, work for a bit...nothing too exciting in my life.

@trooworld Wow I like the idea of the calendar reminders. I live by my calendar and it's full. I think I will try this and see if it makes me more accountable or if I blow it off.

Evening ladies,
@cbabie - Go cbabie, you can do it!
@lore11a - Hubby came home and I didn't get to try the nachos, he is leaving out tonight so I will make them tomorrow and let you know how it went.
I did not get my hour of exercise in again today. Three days - I must do it tomorrow. I had a victory of another sort though. I was digging through my drawers trying to find shirts that fit, the 4x are huge as are most of the 3x. Buried in the bottom of the drawer I found five new 2x shirts that I had bought when I had lost the weight before. I had forgotten all about them. So now I have new shirts to wear to TX and I won't have to go out and shop (I hate shopping) YAY!!!

lore Here's the recipe for the nachoshttps://youtube.com/watch?v=E1zo_HNaz7s
cbabie I do better on a modified carb diet than a low carb. Good for you on tracking and your treadmill. Have you thought about not exercising on Saturdays. Even God rested that last day. You can always choose to exercise if you want to but by not making it mandatory, no guilt. Guilt makes us feel bad which makes us eat. On the calendar
thing, tried it and yeah I blew it off. Now I'm trying Trello. I'm a visual person so this may help me more.
gemwolf Back to 15 minutes on the treadmill. Break it up into three sets of 5 min if you are busy. I can't imagine housebreaking a puppy. I hated doing it with my kids. But something that has to be done, right?
mysticlizard My mil can be funny at times. She has dementia\Alzheimers. Yesterday she was eating a pear and I kept hearing a noise and I looked and she had half of her pear and half of her teeth out chomping away. smh Of course that got a Put your teeth on the table, mama. I tried putting that adhesive tape but she picks it all off and then plays with the tape. lol My friend used to pack a cooler with healthy snacks and water for her long road trips. Some sandwiches. She said that kept her from buying soda, chips, and candy bars at every gas station. Yaaay on fitting into smaller clothes. I had a shirt that was really tight across the chest and I hadn't done laundry and I saw it and I couldn't believe it fit so much better. I have two more shirts I bought that I'm still waiting to get into. Maybe 5 more lbs and I'll try it on

Hi Ladies,
@lore11a - I used the same recipe as theslightedgeforever. I used 1 T less of oil and tossed the oil, spices, and cauliflower in a gallon zip lock to get the coating more even. I should have left the cauliflower in the oven longer to get it more crispy. But it was a nice change of menu.
I got 51 minutes of my hour exercise in then had to pick up my youngest daughter. I am counting that as a victory.
I hope everyone has a good evening.1 -
mysticlizard That's a good idea about the ziplock bag. I agree with less oil and more crispy but it was really good.

Morning team!
I am sucky at this weight thing lately. no exercise yesterday, ran late for church. I got interrupted by a 15 year old boy that was bored..LOL oh well life is life and we live it.
I didn't track yesterday either, but back on the wagon today. I have to work from home today as our new building at work won't be ready until tomorrow. But the good news is that I won't be driving our freeways EVERYDAY anymore. I have been driving 62 miles a day just to and from work, not including driving to clients. So I am happy about THAT! So I figure new route to work new route to health..LOL
@theslightedgeforever great job, you got 3%, I got zippo I would like to lose 4 lbs by Thanksgiving.
I couldn't find cauliflower at the store for some reason...so it will be next week before I try your recipies.

@mysticlizard yep today is a NEW day..take full advantage of it.
@trooworld Great job on getting up and sticking to your plan...now remember what you felt like after you got done so that tomorrow it will be a little eaiser.
PS I love the new icon.

Good morning ladies,
Today is a new day and a new month. Yesterday was ugly with my eating. I know that it is the stress of this trip to TX. I am bingeing (sp) for comfort, I know that it is self defeating, at 51 I know better.
I am tracking EVERYTHING EVERYDAY that I am eating and that was one of my goals for Oct. I met that goal! Yay!
I exercised for an hour 21 days during the month. My goal was one hour exercise daily, so I did not quite reach that goal.
For the month I lost 7.6 pounds. Yay!!!!!
My goals for November
1. Continue logging everyday. I did this and I can keep doing this.
2. No more than 476 calories for snacks a day. I am set at 1430 calories for 1.5 pounds lost per week. I do not eat breakfast, lunch is usually no more than 300 calories, and that will give me 576 calories for supper.
3. Get at least 85 g. of protein a day. I need to make better food choices.
4. Get one hour of exercise a day for 25 days of the month. I would like to get at least 15 minutes on the days I don't get an hour in.
I hope all of you have a good day.2 -
The last time I posted was Oct 21! Wow. I’ve been fighting this bug all this time, the cough got worse. I think it’s all heading in the right direction now though.
@tattooedprincess8 Hi Believe! I am going to get everyone’s names mixed up, haha.
@theslightedgeforever You posted that chart on cauliflower…I saw it and thought pizza..haha, I have yet to try the cauliflower pizza crust. Those cauliflower nachos look yummy! Your mother in law sounds like my mom. The caretakers have a dickens of a time getting her to keep her dentures in. I lost 3.4 lbs, which was amazing for not tracking almost half a month. Not 5%, but it’s a loss, I’ll take it.
@dawnemjh I had the same problem with WW…free fruit and veggies that I’d eat just ‘cause I could. I personally do better tracking here (when I track).
@vingogly I think the board works for us this way as it is something we are used to, and people are finding us! It’s easy enough to “favorite” the thread and come right back to where you left off. Of course if you’re gone 11 days like I was, you might come back to 90 messages, lol. It’s all good though!
@trooworld Hi fellow Californian! I’m up in L A. Been loving the rain, even though it’s made me cough more, lol. I make my own chicken bone broth in the pressure cooker…same results as slow cooking, but faster. I always add 2 tablespoons of vinegar. It doesn’t flavor the broth, but it does pull the calcium out of the bones so the broth is richer. I like your calendar. Especially since you made it your desktop. Good idea! You are right about diet being the most important factor. The point is, exercise is for your health…and if you’re exercising you’re going to make better food choices, not wanting to waste the exercise.
@peruviansweetie Glad you found a cheaper dentist. I sure understand wanting to take a break from the dentist. I’m close to done with all the work I need. Will take the next year (since I’m out of insurance coverage for this year, lol).
@mysticlizard and @gemwolf110 I will post my chili recipe later tonight or tomorrow.
@mysticlizard I teach a thematic class to homeschoolers, aprox 2nd through 4th grade. I thought your comment to cbabie was interesting. I have so much going on, just going and going, and I have fallen a couple times in the last year and I’m always bumping into things. I think your advice is spot on. Being sick the last few weeks has taught me to slow down, just a little. I still have my part time teaching job, and I had a convention to go to this weekend, but I have been trying to rest a bit more. It’s helped my carpal tunnel issues, resting my arms!
@gemwolf Thanks for the invite to the challenge. I have about the same goal as you by New Years.
@cbabie Hi! Missed all of you! I saw Stephanie O posting on here, going to try to get her here on the board!
I’ll post my November goals later tonight or tomorrow.
Karla :-)

trooworld I'm a more slow to rise type person and think my biorthyms kick in later in the day. I'm experimenting with different times for exercise to see which timeslot is the perfect one for me.
cbabie Baby steps are good. I think I've got the tracking down now to make sure I don't go over my calories. Input before I eat it.....
gemwolf Get the candy out of sight. An old friend I hadn't seen in two years came for a visit and brought me candy. 5 pieces later......I usually can be satisfied with one piece. Which really happened but I was satisfied 5 different times. Motivation All my tricks from high school don'toit of the bones. seem to work now. I have one shirt hanging so I can see it. But 2 summers have come and gone. Still looking for my motivation. I just realized when I started to reply to mysticlizard that I lost a fair amount of weight this last month. I guess the motivation is there but I didn't recognize it. I need to concentrate more on my successes evidently instead of thinking about how I went over my calories today and didn't exercise.
mysticlizard Good weight loss.
My goals for November
1. 4 days of strength training 3 days cardio
2. Input dinner at meal time not before going to bed.
bugmom Glad to see you back. I was thinking about your comment on vinegar and how it pulls the calcium out of the bones. It doesn't do that with humans does it? I drink 2-3 T of vinegar everyday.

Hi ladies,
@bugmom92 - 2nd - 4th graders, kids are really neat at the age. I hope that cold leaves you soon. I am sure you are sick of it (no pun intended). I am looking forward to the chili recipe too. It is getting cold enough up here (MN) so that chili will be an awesome meal.
@gemwolf110 - I had to smile about your aunt's cooking. We are leaving tomorrow to go to TX for my younger son's wedding. The rehearsal dinner and the wedding supper are vegan, gluten free, and dairy free, no cake either. The menu sounds pretty unappetizing. So like you, I think I will do all right. I just have to worry about the meals on the road. We are taking the cooler with lunch fixings and I have weighed everything and figured calories for what I will eat. I hope that tooth doesn't give you any more problems.
@trooworld - I hope you feel better quick.
I did not get my exercise, doing last minute stuff for this trip. I hope to get a bunch of walking in on the way down to TX and while we are there. Our three girls are traveling with us, my oldest son, his wife, and my year old grandson will be there, and of course the groom and his partner. So we will be able to spend a little time with all the kids and I am really looking forward to it. I know I will be checking in, I don't want to lose my 669 day streak. I don't know that I will post though. So I hope everyone has a good end of week and a lovely weekend.0 -
gemwolf Maybe ask your aunt if you and your mom could come over and help her with the dinner prep. win-win You get good food and cooking time with mom Your aunt gets the blessing of hostessing and less stress.
Yaaay on getting the candy out of your house. I had picked up a piece of candy and then said You don't need this today You had some yesterday and put it back. Baby steps for me.
trooworld I need to get my flushot. I forgot. I'm hoping my new timeslot for exercise will be good for me. Today was good I walked for 40 min. A stray dog kept following me and jumped up on me twice. Scared me to death. White german shepherd. I used to have one of those years ago and think it was the ghost of Novembers past. lol
lore I have a new head of cauliflower I need to make something with. I'm leaning towards the tater tots
mysticlizard yikes on the wedding menu I wonder why we can't go back to the old days of just natural food that everyone eats. Enjoy your family. Make some good memories. Wow on the 669 day streak. Awesome

Morning:
I had an emotional melt down yesterday morning and new I couldn't write on here and sound sane..by the time I got myself together, it was time for work. I didn't get home from church until 9 and didn't sleep real well, but today is another day!!
I have tracked and stayed the course so far, I am not getting my 10K steps in, but I did walk 30 min yesterday on my treadmill. I am working from home this week, so not as much movement. We were supposed to move into our new building on Monday, but the TI work wasn't done..so we all work from home or our warehouse or something. I chose home.
It's good to see everyone posting. I will try to catch up today, but no promises. I love the new ideas on food and new recipes. Let's keep sharing those. I am not cooking for me this week, so no new ones from me this week. You guys seem to be the good cooks.
Believe# I am so happy to see you here, I know you have a new name, but you will always be Believe to me!!
@mysticlizard Enjoy your trip. My mom used to say..let's make an adventure..and she would take my sister.LOL I am not the adventurous type.
@gemwolf110 LOL right after church all the guys were trying to get the game on the screens at church, me I waited till this morning and checked the headlines.
@theslightedgeforever great job on your exercise. Keep sharing those recipes
