I had a look at my license photo that was taken in like 2013 and my face was so much fatter than it is now.17

I had a bad day yesterday after which I stopped at the store feeling upset and hungry. They had a buy two get one free special on Lindt Truffels. And yes, I did take three... and ate an entire box last night. That is the bad part. My NSV is that I logged all of those chocolates, cooked and ate a healthy dinner and then brought the other two boxes to work this morning for my co-workers! I did not let one terrible choice knock me of course for days like I would have in the past.62

Had been away from gym for 2 weeks as I had the flu and went back yesterday and did my workout even when I realized how much weaker I felt and finished what I had come to do.19

I've been at a plateau for the past 3 months, but didn't give up. One month into the plateau, I started strength training. As of yesterday, I've pushed past the plateau and am pleased to report that I have moved out of the obese category into merely overweight.47

It sounds counterintuitive to be proud of this
nope. i don't think i've ever had to deal with a real disorder, but a kind of disconnection from the actual purpose of food is for real. so one of the things i absolutely love about lifting is how straightforward 'food' suddenly is. i'm walking around the grocery store, i'm hungry, what can i buy that will take care of that.
i had a cool one yesterday. was in the gym and saw one of the huge power-lifters showing a stretch to one of the personal trainers. i got into conversation with her - mostly because i was drifting closer to see if i could learn something myself.
ended up telling her about six different things about pec minor muscles and a locked collarbone and the various parts of how you go about dismantling a problem like that and making it go away. it felt weird . . . she's the trainer, and i've watched her do a lot of rehab stuff with other people. but come to that particular shoulder thing, i knew more than she did and was able to actually tell her several things that will probably help.

Took my BP today. I take medication because, untreated, mine has been known to reach scary highs. Even medicated, it trends to the high side. I shamefully admit that I need a refill, so I haven't taken it in a couple of days. This morning, my BP unmedicated was 131/82. Not ideal, but a TREMENDOUS achievement for me.25

My hubby bought me this lovely but rather expensive corset at a Comic Con a few years ago... it was fitted to me at the time, when I was probably around 205lbs or so. I've hardly worn it because I always felt self-conscious, and then I put on even more weight and couldn't lace up the front anymore.
Last time I tried it on, a few weeks ago, it was far too loose and the back lacing needed adjusting. I finally got around to doing that this morning, and now it takes a little effort to lace the front again - as it should! The gap at the back lacing has gone from something like 6-7" to about 2", so I still have a bit more leeway to wear it as I get smaller. I also no longer feel like I'm being suffocated by the expanse of flesh and fat pushed up towards my neck, which is great!
I'm wearing it right now and I feel like a frickin' princess...

That's what it's all about, IMO. We're all faced with those struggles and aren't perfect all the time, every day. You made a choice and moved on, and kept yourself accountable. THAT is a huge win.12 -
I went down 2 notches in my belt.
I rode my bike for the first time in 2 years.
I was at a meeting today where they had huge pukes of candy in the middle of each table. I didn't eat any, and stuck with my carrots I packed.18 -
I quit smoking 5 years ago tomorrow. Five months after that, my mom died from COPD at age 67. I gained 30lbs in those 5 years. Today, those 30lbs are gone and I am still smoke free. I miss my mom every day, but I want to be around for my kids and future grandkids and live my life as fully as I can with them. So, this might be a scale victory, but it's so much more than that. It means the fog and sadness from losing my mom has lifted enough for me to take care of ME again.48

Congrats on your achievements!!! I pray that you had a typo and meant huge PILES of candy instead. Would make it easier to stick to the carrots though.15

For the first time since I began a daily log my blood sugar and pressure readings were in the normal range.
I am taking meds for the bp but if the downward trend continues that could change.31 -

Have to say, it came out pretty good and I found that it's pretty impossible to knit with my hand in the potato chip bag!
Beautiful blanket! A hundred years ago (okay, maybe 33) I quit smoking and learned how to crochet to keep my hands busy. I just kept making squares like some crazy woman! But it worked lol
I have taken up crocheting again too. Not only does it keep my hands busy and out of chip bags but it quiets my mind, so I don't keep thinking about what would be a great thing to snack on!12 -
Realizing that my size 5 Hollister jeans I bought a few weeks ago are feeling loose Also my glasses keep falling off my nose when I look down; they never used to do that haha!12

I was trying on jackets and sweaters the other day with friends and got really nervous trying on a L, thinking it wouldn't fit even though XL was too big, and was really surprised to see it fit!
Also a cardigan I've had for a couple years now has always been tight in the arms and last night I put it on and it actually fit! Great to see my hard work paying off!21 -
Getting into clothes this week that I haven't been able to wear in over a year.13

Hubby bought me a sparkly black and teal sweater in large. It was huge in me. He said that there was only one medium left and went straight to Kohl's to exchange it. It feels nice to fit into a medium.29

I was at a relative's wake, noticed a family member I hadn't seen in a couple of years, nodded and waved to say hello. He gave me a strange look, then came over and introduced himself! I said, that's great "Bill" (name changed to protect the innocent), but I WAS IN YOUR WEDDING PARTY! His response was, "Holy **kitten** you've lost a lot of weight!"31
-
^ so funny! "Bill" must have been embarrassed.6

Love reading everyone's posts! ... my NSV last week was for the FIRST TIME in my adult life I was able to purchase a pair of knee high leather boots that fit .. feelin' fab!28

Cereal is a trigger food for me; I haven't had it in probably a decade. I bought some Chex last night and this morning I had one normal-sized serving, put the box away, and didn't think of it or obsess over it or go back for "just one more bowl" or anything. I just... ate cereal, like a normal person, for the first time in my entire life!55

Wearing a dress I haven't worn in three years, and it looks better on me now than it did when I bought it, not really a surprise since I am 30 lbs thinner than when I bought it. I am also wearing knee high black boots that I bought last winter and have an extra dipper to make the calf wider, which I needed to use when I got them. Now I don't need to use that extra zipper they are actually a little loose even though I am wearing them with leggings.21

I went to see my sister , a few hours away, who I haven't seen since since before I started getting serious about making this change. Without realising she was doing it, she told me I look good maybe six times in an hour, but it is her first comment that made me realise I've changed: "Wow, so we're not big boned, we're just fat!" I use to be all about "have people noticed?" on the inside, and it was great to realise that I have started to get used to my new size and also that I'm not wandering around obsessing over it either.18

Always wanted to wear a sweater dress but always convinced myself curvy girls don't wear them well.... Screw that! Picked up my ver first sweater dress and I feel very very good in it!!!29

I don't wear belts cause they hurt. today my jeans were falling down so I put on a belt. it was at the smallest hole. I used to be at the biggest hole. I have never been at tje smallest hole on a belt before. it was also still too big and super comfy! I guess belts were uncomfortable cause they dug into all my stomach fat lol so now I want to go buy belts lol so so happy today!!
also someone told me I look great today and they were trying to figure out what was different....her friend then said it's her smile...she has such a nice smile.
I guess u smile more now23 -
I finished C25k today! I used to hate running, but now I really like it now. I was so excited all day waiting to do the 30 minute run. And I am really proud of myself. It feels so good to be healthy.40

Cycled a very hilly route to a destination I wasn't sure I could make, and made it, also on a very windy cold day - feeling intrepid. Love that bike
