A few of mine are guys curling in the squat rack with ten lb plates on each side!! Pisses me off! Lol. And when someone ask you how many sets you have left you say 3 or so and they sit there and wait til you are done!!! Ughhh. You can't find a machine to use until I'm done???1

I have no complaints at my gym thankfully. Although people might get annoyed at me when I laugh while watching my Netflix when I'm on the elliptical. For the most part there's not too many people there when I go.2

I've learned that when a person can't get along with anyone, it's not the rest of humanity who has the problem.24 -
People who work out lifting weights in groups of three or more because in my experience they tend to chat and socialize more and can take a rack or machine out of circulation for a more than an hour, sometimes two.4

Basically, people are the issue.
My fitness dance instructors ask the newbies and uncoordinated folks to be up front so she can easily give correction. Its the one who know what they are doing that she prefers in the back. From what I understand most instructors feel this way- in competitive and non competitive classes- you are only as strong as your weakest link.

Also; I'm a beginner at working out; and often I have no clue how to do something and youtube it right then and there (with earphones) to figure it out. Better to make going to the gym a habit - then be intimidated by people who think as you do.15 -

This is why I don't take the classes or go to the gym. I've tried, but the attitude I get from the more experienced people makes me feel inadequate and unwelcome. Oh, an instructor might be encouraging, but then I get grief from the other people in a class--because apparently I need to have personally trained with Bob Fosse to be in a beginner class (which is probably not your situation).
That and the people who have given me attitude or made audible comments because I'm not fit and thin already. I don't need that. I'll stick to walking outdoors and trying to do stuff at home.

Yeesh. This list is my annoyance at the gym: people who think they're so fit/experienced/perfect and that beginners don't belong.
I'm in the front row of that dance fitness class because I don't know the moves. I'm short and need to see what the instructor is doing. When I'm experienced in a class I move back so the new folks can be at the front.
I'm moving awkwardly in that dance class. But I'm moving. What's it to you? If I'm in your blind spot, move... or ask me politely to scoot over.
If I swim slow but think I'm fast, boy what great motivation for me!! As long as I'm not crossing into your lane, why are you even paying attention to my speed?
Pretending to work out? How can you tell? Maybe they're just getting familiar with the exercises and are tentative about it.
The rest are fair and I agree with. But please, let's not judge others who are trying. If I'm not following some etiquette, politely let me know. 99% of the time I'm not aware and am happy to learn.

People who don't put the weights back. Lack of common courtesy pisses me off. I know we are go go go society, but sheesh have respect and be considerate of those around you.1

Yea ... I've had men (only) try to take the racked weights off the leg press when I'm mid-rep. I have to stop and let them know "I'm going to need those." Why do they assume I won't? They could at least ask! I may be a tiny woman, but I am a freakish beast on the leg press.4

Having men stare at me when I am doing pull ups and chin ups. What's even worse is when one of them comes over to tell me that those are too hard and women shouldn't be able to do them. I was overweight before and have worked hard to be able to do those exercises. It makes me feel very self conscious.1

When either one of the two Elieko bars are in use and I have to settle for a Texas bar. It's a really bad day if I'm all the way down on an Ivanko bar.
When one of the coaches heats up something that smells amazing when I'm already hungry toward the end of a training session and makes me hungrier.1 -

4. People that do circuit training all over the gym, "stick to one area"
5. Gym that has the a/c on 50 F-ing degrees
6. the one guy that always has a little weight on the press/machine and has to yell out loud so everyone can see what their doing

Bookmarking this for the next time someone says "no one is paying attention to you" to a newbie worried about being judged at the gym.
What bothers me are people. I workout at home and I still get bothered by people.
I go to a "no judgment zone" gym. I don't like needless stress and high pressure and love the low key atmosphere. ETA: no lunks allowed1
