So. What's the worst weight loss myth?

Oh, current pet peeve, since it seems to be gaining prevalence, the idea that we get fat by eating foods our bodies "cannot process" or that making your metabolism "more efficient" would help weight loss. I suppose the second is a misuse of language pet peeve more than a myth pet peeve.
Also, old one, but "must eat lots of mini meals to keep the metabolism running" or "skip breakfast and your body thinks you are starving."7 -

Weirdly enough, the starvation mode one doesn't bother me so much. It's stupid, but IMO it's not as damaging or derailing as those others are. My biggest pet peeve though? All this nonsense with diet soda and cancer and insulin and toxins. IDK why, but it drives me up the wall.
If sugar is indeed not the devil, then what pray tell is in devil's food cake, hmmm?

Seriously!!? I know from sorting through some of the lit that it can affect your teeth and wreak some other havoc, but I didn't realize people were dying from it. There used to have some crazy ACV threads going about a year ago, back before 'Nam, but I don't think there's been a good one recently. There were worms coming out of people's noses and EVERYTHING. I have never heard that in my life! People come up with the craziest thing omg.
Mine would have to be that ItWorks supplements and other products are needed to lose weight even though most of the people selling it who have lost a bunch of weight didn't start using the product until after their weight loss success. Give me a break.5 -

How do you get rid of the "Java has a new update" notification? I keep rubbing my eyes to get rid of it, BUT IT IS STILL THERE.7 -
Adding protein to everything means you can eat as much of it as you like..... protein cookies, protein brownies, protein flapjack, protein mug cake..etc etc....
Oh and "sugar-free" recipes that use dates, fruit, maple syrup or honey instead!!21 -

I don't think that's a myth so much as people not communicating well; I can't imagine anyone really thinks a pound somehow does not equal a pound.14 -

I don't buy into starvation mode per se, but it is a fact fat loss will stall during extended periods of deficit. Nothing a calculated refeed won't fix.

Apparently people can get worms through their digestive system, and said worms can even crawl into and fall out through their nose, and if I remember correctly, ACV (or something) can help you manage your worm problem, that you and your children get from your cats. Or some such. It was from when I first joined the forums, and I am still a little traumatized, so please excuse me as I curl up under my desk.7 -

My favourite myth is that cardio makes you fat and lifting makes you lose weight. Of course, that's why world's strongest man Brian Shaw weighs 197kg, while Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion Mo Farah weighs 60kg.6

That's very generous of you. Muscle weighs more than fat = muscle is denser than fat. They mean exactly the same thing and neither expression is in the least bit ambiguous. I tend to stick to the latter, but only because I know some bonehead will take issue with me if I say the former. The astonishing thing is that so many people seem to think that another person doesn't understand that a pound is a pound!11 -

Anything that doesn't follow the basic science of consuming fewer calories than one burns. The rest is a personal choice and each individual has to find what works for them.3

Workouts that claim to "blast belly fat"!! like you can choose where the fat disappears from!
Any kind of diet plan that sells "meal replacement" bars/shakes etc. What's wrong with real food??
