I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. They have classes in just about everything there and up until today, I've stuck with spin classes as I know that I can (just about) cope with it. I say "just about" as I have problems with one of my knees so I can't do the hovering and standing cycling but I still shove the resistance up and pedal like a crazy thing.
Today I tried a kettlebell class. Seriously out of my comfort zone. OMG!!! I am not sure if it killed me or I killed it as I finished the class but only just; in fact when we did the last station of planks I collapsed onto the floor in a heap sucking breath in through all and any orifices before dragging my sorry butt off to seek water . . . but I LOVED IT and can't wait for the next one! My thighs are killing me now and going upstairs is somewhat problematic but it was FAB!
Felt like a "total noob" as my boys would say (aka a novice) as we had to select a heavy kettlebell and a light kettlebell - the woman next to me used the weight I had as my "heavy" one as her light one . . . she hammered it and barely perspired at all during the whole class whereas by the end I was a sticky, sweaty, gasping mess - I've not felt like that since I first started exercising when I decided to shift some weight
I would never have believed that I'd survive such a class and enjoy it. I'm really not into "group" exercise but this was great fun. If you'd told me 18 months ago that I'd be saying this today I'd have laughed and reached for the Maltesers . . . . right now I can't wait for the next class and I'm trying to decide what others I should try32 -

Literally every time we would go out to eat I would end up with food on the front of my clothes. Don't know if it was from squeezing into a booth, or the angle of sitting, or what. Just know that my kids and hubby got a few good laughs from it always happening.
Now, 53 pounds lighter, I realized it has not happened in a very long time. No more squeezing in booths, sitting more upright and I have less in front!
Conclusion is: Loosing weight also lightens your wash day and you save $$ on stain remover!
Oh my gosh! I never realized my weight could be the cause of this. My partner calls me a huge toddler because I always wear my food at some point. LOL, bring on the weight loss so people stop trying to put napkins under my chin.10 -
TOO FUNNY!
I thought it was just me!
I've never heard this talked about before. . .
Anybody else had it happen???1 -
I told myself I was gonna get better about logging, because I slacked off for the last couple of months. Today, not only did I weight just about everything I ate, but I made really healthy choices and worked out a ton, so I was able to eat a HUGE dinner and I still have calories for an evening snack!
Dinner: slow cooker BBQ chicken, baked red potato with butter and sour cream, and steamed broccoli. Snack: I can't decide!!! So many options! Yogurt with peanut butter and honey? Mug cake? Wine and chocolate? Idk, but I'm excited to have the option.12 -

Until my three year old daughter gave me a hug this morning and announced that she could put both of her arms around me and touch her wrists. This is a major thing, as a year ago not even my husband could do that.
I'm starting to see my weight loss as well; yesterday I spend the most boring day on earth watching my daughter being "pampered" (I'd won a competition and nominated her to have the prize) - personal dresser/make up etc and whilst in the dressing rooms with her I noticed my reflection. I was gobsmacked as I am so much smaller than a year ago - I've gone from a UK 28/30 to a UK 8/10 but I still "felt" really obese up until yesterday. My daughter's personal dresser person asked how much weight I'd lost - I told her and added that I have another 20-30lbs to go to which she exclaimed that I did not need to loose more weight. I do though, as I still have horrible stomach/thigh/leg/bum/arm fat. I look like I'm in the second trimester of pregnancy. That's got to go.
Anyway, after my three-year old's "act of true love" as she puts it (yeah, a Frozen fan) I got dressed feeling more positive and resolved than ever to beat this and to get rid of these last few pounds that are hanging around.
And my new gym opens tomorrow; had a look around on Friday and I'm very excited about getting in there and getting started. Neither the winter or the weather can stop me exercising now as the gym is open 24/7!
Woah!!!! Lady friend, that is AMAZING!!!! What is your secret?!?

Congrats, even if it is a scale victory.2 -
You know, Costco sells Gaviscon for about $23 a bottle (Cdn). I'd have to get one pretty much every trip I made. I'm saving close to $50 a month now just not having to buy it every couple of weeks. Forget the cheaper food and booze costs, this one kinda hit me as I have nowhere near the heartburn I used to have.12

I am aging, my hair is greying, my hands look like my mother's.....but my *kitten* looks perkier than it has in years, my eyes still see life as gleeming even in chaos and stress, my laugh is deeply felt, and frankly - a society that tells older women every day that "you are invisible" can f-ing bite me! Rant done. Moral of the story: Love yourself people! You are worth it.

Walking for me at 2 mph used to be pushing it to where I thought my hips were going to kill me and then just die. But now, I comfortably walk at 2.5 mph for my full workout!!! And man does it feel good!! I noticed while still walking at 2 mph, I was walking on the front of my treadmill and about killed myself a few times so I increased my speed to prevent any full faceplant. Small feat to some but to me, huge!!18

NSV: feeling much better after the flu, but keeping my surviving germs to myself.
i'll go back . . . idk, maybe next week.4 -
NSV: I didn't think I could even do yoga, but I completed a full set of yoga poses with decent form!16

Today I was able to pull my wool knee socks comfortably over my calves. The elastic isn't cutting off my circulation.
Yesterday, I wore my down vest for the first time this winter. It zipped comfortably, rather than under protest, as it had last year.16 -
I usually avoid Chinese food and Pizza because I've found them to be pretty big binge triggers for me. I've been craving Chinese for several weeks now and I noticed I'd also been wanting to eat more than usual recently. I thought they might be related, so I caved and got Chinese last night. I ordered much less than I would have when I used to order it, I wasn't uncomfortably full afterwards, and I didn't want a snack or anything else the rest of the night. If I can conquer the binge trigger for Chinese, maybe pizza can be next.41

This is so true! But I think that for me there's also another reason....... before I ate very fast, trying to shovel as much into my mouth as possible. The idea of taking a doggy bag home from a restaurant was unthinkable! Does the word "greed" come to mind? Now, I try to eat more slowly, especially if its something particularly yummy. Because I eat less, food is more enjoyable. And so I make less mess too. Whatever the reason, it's just nice to not always have a stain on my boob area lol

you guys.... I am comfortably wearing a size 14 jeans at work right now. AND I'm sitting down and don't feel like I'm suffocating. I could cry I'm so happy. I haven't been this size since in 5 years!!!!
I also think I'm going to stop tonight on my way home and buy some heavier weights. my 10lbs just don't cut it for somethings anymore.41 -
My latest one was when I went to get my tire repaired and I saw the lobby chairs with arms and in the past those were not friends and either I didn't fit into them or they were very uncomfortable. This time, I fit easily with space to spare in the chair. I don't know how to say how happy that made me and how unexpected it was!32

NSV!! My sister in law ordered me some cute clothes from American Eagle. Typically these sizes run small. We ordered medium stuff. I was apprehensive about it because I hate buying clothes online. I have to try it on first to make sure it fits right. Well, we got them yesterday and much to my surprise everything fit perfectly! I am no longer a large/ medium. I no longer have to worry about buying clothes in 2 different sizes. I am a medium! I don't have to worry about buying a "bigger" medium. Just medium fits.
Also NSV... I have been maintaining for 4 months. I am not maintaining my goal weight, I still have 30#s to meet goal, but I haven't gained either!32 -
One full week, no wine! Feel great and really enjoying being able to eat my calories and not "wasting" them. Not giving it up completely...... I'm just taking my work/family frustrations out on a treadmill instead of a wine bottle during the week.26

Today I went to scratch an itch on my side and realized the "fluffy" squish around my bra just wasn't there. Straight up firm skin. It falls in one beautiful, continuous line.36

I drive a huge Dodge Diesel with running boards and it occurred to me this morning that I no longer HOIST my ars into the truck. I am hopping in that mother. I love it. I am only 5'2 so even with the boards its a ways up in there!28

I carried a large box with both hands today, and felt it against my ribs. For years, my belly has taken the weight.
"Fu?< you're skinny" from a guy at work the other day. My favourite weight loss comment I've received yet.15 -
My NSV: Took the stairs each morning to my office at work (short week- only 4 days!) 2 flights of stairs but they are killer- I am always huffing and puffing by the time I reach my desk- sad!! Only been back "on the health wagon" for about 2 weeks so hopefully in a few weeks the stairs will become easier!!! Cardio/ stamina has never been my thing- like lifting much better! Any way I can sneak in a little exercise is a bonus!19

I use a crunch machine at the gym that you hold handles over your head and pull down toward your knees... I had been noticing for a while that my elbows were getting closer and closer to touching my knees on the downward pull... today, they touched!
My belly is smaller, so my elbows now reach my knees in the crunch!31 -
The other day, I was lying in bed next to my boyfriend and he told me that he could see my ribcage. "Not the individual ribs," he said, "but you can definitely tell where the ribcage begins and ends."
As someone who hadn't seen a bone in years and years, I'll take it.23 -
Tonight I was standing in the kitchen while the kettle boiled and cut myself a piece of cake (homemade banana loaf with no fat). Then I thought about it more carefully and decided that despite my zumba class I haven't moved much today and PUT THE CAKE BACK. A conscious thought about what is going in my mouth for a change!

When I run...I can go quickly...no trees shake when I run past, squirrels and birds don't dive for cover, earthquake sirens remain quiet.37
