This is totally off topic and I am still new to the forums but since this is a group of all women just wanted to ask -- does anyone else get the impression that some of the men on here use this app to flirt and hit on women? Ha! I have gotten some vibes from a few guys (and they only friend women) that they are here to turn this into a Facebook flirty thing. Some are just friendly but a few made some comments that make me shake my head. I'm single but don't advertise that fact. It's just weird since this is a health and fitness app.

Anyway, sorry to digress but it just seems weird to me. Don't get me wrong I have met some great people so far but some of these dudes hmmmm I am on the fence ha!

Omg yes! I've noticed that too! This is not match.com this is a fitness website! lol it's so funny. I've had to unfriend most of my MFP male friends. Lol

Okay, I guess that is the norm then. Ha!!! I can hold my own but it just seems weird. I got a weird message last night asking if I was a caffeine addict. Uhmmm okay?! Ha! I may start ignoring friend requests from dudes at this point. I am here for support and to help and motivate others.

    I'm 5'2" or 5'1" depending on which converter I use lol. I'm 156cm.
I'm an Aussie mum of three, I work as a personal carer at a high care nursing home. I've just finished my nursing and am desperately counting down the days until my registration paperwork comes through so I can start working as a nurse.
I lift weights following the StrongLifts 5x5 program. I follow the 5:2 eating thingie. So far so good. I have about 30kgs or 66lbs to lose. So far I've lost 6kgs or 13lbs

First off you look great for 66. I weigh myself once a month too. I just felt it was so discouraging seeing the ups and downs on the scale from frequent weigh ins. It's great that you are on a health journey and eating healthy! I wish you best of luck as you continue your health journey.

@Sip3hey I am a walking testimonial that through eating right and exercise you can reduce high BP. I have had on and off high BP since my late 30s (in my 40s) and made a deal with my nurse practitioner about losing weight to get my BP on track. Both of us did not want me to go on meds. Luckily, he is not the pill pusher type practitioner.

After losing weight last year (25 lbs and still some more to go), my BP is in the healthy normal range. :) My mom has Type 2 diabetes and takes meds and since losing weight and using MFP (got her started on it last year and we walk together), she's doing really well with her blood sugar numbers and she feels a lot better overall--more energy, etc. She's also short.

You can do it! Just go slowly and take it one day at a time! :)

Another lost lb this week. It seems so slow starting out again. I know once you hit that 10lbs or so it feels like so much more of an accomplishment. It's just the getting there. Managed to wrench up my back again. This getting older is for the birds!

5'4.5" and trying to lose about 5-10 more. I've lost 7 and I'm stuck here. The first 7 went super fast with being carb conscious. I don't count fruit or veggies as carbs, but I stay away from breads (my big weakness, I love baking!). So I probably have about 1 portion of grains a day...that's easy to maintain once I got in the habit but I fell off the exercise wagon and I need to get back on.

Being short definitely makes it hard to stay on top of our weight! I looove to binge too, so that doesn't help matters, either. :#

I'm 4'11.5", 116 lbs right now, and have about another 7-10 pounds to lose until I hit the stage for my bikini competition in 12 weeks! I've been a member for over 4 years, and I log in consistently.

    Well done to everyone.
    I am 5ft 4 and a bit, currently 174.2lb.
I was 178.9lb and my aim is 108lb and I have 66lbs to lose.
I log in my foods and aiming to keep in calories but be more active on the days I am not at work. I am gluten intolerant and my doctor was very good but I have to laugh I work on the ward he works. My weight has been up and down what with having to go back onto gluten for all the test for coeliac. Since that there has been a few times that gluten has accidentally ended up in my meal (cross contamination) and I swell on my tummy and many other symptoms. It takes months to get fully out of my system.
Before I went gluten free I tried for 2 yrs healthy eating and was going to the gym 4 times a week and nothing would shift the weight even changing my workouts didn't help.
I went gluten free for 2 and 1/2 years to see if gluten was a problem. No daily migraines and all the other stuff went plus the weight just dropped off eating normally.
I have been eating huge amounts of food before I restarted watching what I eat.
    Thank you for reading

I have had a similar experience. I've had all sorts of GI and allergy tests with everything coming back "negative," but when I eat grains, pasta, etc I feel terrible: pain all over and get really swollen, esp my belly. I also worked to lose weight for years -- weighing my food, counting calories, exercising and none of it made any difference. I read about "leaky gut syndrome" about a year ago and it was like the author followed me around and was writing about me. I couldn't believe it -- after a decade of doctors, specialists, naturopaths, acupuncturists, etc, I found something that explained what I was going through perfectly. I made some tweaks to my diet and have lost over 100 lbs in the past year. (I'm 5' 1/2")

When people say they "try to lose weight and nothing works," I really get it. I bet a lot of people have allergies or sensitivities that throw off their systems that tests don't pick up yet ....

    Anyway, good luck all!
