I don't eat clean... I eat whatever will fit my macros and achieve my goals better this way. It works well for me! Feel free to add me.4

Can I just say that this is THE best thread I have ever come across??? You all are awesome and have inspired me to feel better about myself again. I've been using MFP for over 2 years straight (this time around) and I really want it to work. I'm having such a hard time staying motivated and getting help with my motivation. Sure, I've got some great friends on here... but this is a nice refreshing (and hilarious) feed that has perked me up and reminded me that I'm one of the normal ones!!!! THANK YOU!!!!11

And also, it's my very first day in ONE-derland in over 11 years (and really more than that because I didn't maintain the weight loss that got me under 200 back then).
ONE-derland NEEDS tacos.
TACOS.
ONE-derful! Congrats, and enjoy your tacos!5 -
estherdragonbat wrote: »I was nervous about having my diary open to friends at the start, but no one has ever commented negatively on anything I eat. I'm confident enough now that if someone tried to tell me I was eating "the wrong things", I'd happily tell them it was none of their business!
At first, I told a few close friends that I was doing MFP and that I had budgeted for certain treats once a week. (Mostly because when I was doing WW some years back and had lost a significant amount of weight, there was ALWAYS some busybody who would come up to me in a restaurant or ice cream parlor with an "Have I just caught you CHEATING???" And I am really not that assertive IRL. Definitely not the kind who can respond with something along the lines 'How is that your business?' And during the initial few weeks of the MFP, I didn't fully trust CICO , so I was adopting a 'Let's see if I can REALLY eat what I want, so long as it's within my calories' and didn't want to feel myself automatically slip onto the defensive if anyone questioned what was on my plate.) Now, I don't bother mentioning it anymore. I've lost more than 10% of my starting weight and I feel comfortable enough now that I think I can just smile and reply, "A treat is not a cheat," and leave it at that.
Nice terminology! I found that I don't like to use "cheating" or "cheat day" (or meal), it implies you're doing something to be ashamed of rather than enjoying a treat that you've consciously decided you want to eat. (I don't use "diet" for the same reason - this isn't something I'm going to be doing just until I lose weight and then going back to "eating normally". If I went back to eating how I used to, I'd be welcoming back all those extra pounds!)
Very few people in my real life know that I'm working on losing weight, and I'm happy with that! I've been unemployed for some time, and when I finally find a new job my colleagues will never have known me as the fat girl who couldn't say no to an extra cookie or three, or the one who would eat All The Chocolate just because. I won't have to answer questions about the way I eat now because it'll be the way I've always eaten!
A few weeks ago I was helping out someone with a bit of organising, and she kept trying to offer me food... I had my pre-logged food with me and didn't really want what she was offering anyway, but she was persistent! Eventually, after several polite refusals, I told her thanks but I had my calorie-counted snacks and lunch and would be satisfied with that. She gave me what seemed to be a rather smug smile and said, "People who count calories never lose weight." Well, how could I let that go?! So I said it was working for me and I'd lost (at that time) close to 40lbs. Her jaw nearly dropped and she shut up... a short while later she came back and asked me how I'd done it, so I pointed her at MFP.
Where did she get that ridiculous idea?0 -
Well up until the 16th of this month I was not into clean eating, but due to ongoing digestive issues I have been placed on a very restrictive diet (low FODMAP) which kind of negates the ability to eat more or less anything that comes in a packet, but this is purely to try and get my body to remember how to digest food without being in agony, which has been the case for since October, so for once I am all for clean eating ... I do still want to be able to eat processed foods from time to time, and once I'm over this elimination period and have figured out exactly what is causing me all the digestive distress and agony, believe me I will be eating a wider range of foods, within my dietary needs ...
But I love this post, so just had to comment.
Well, that is not really in your control! Thanks for the support of our insanity even when your diet is so limited xo1 -

This isn't about anyone other than yourself. Go ahead and eat those Oreo's but stay under your caloric goal for the day. However, if you understand that those 3 or 4 cookies cost you a nice piece of beef or chicken, you might reconsider.
I'm a vegetarian, so I really won't. Lol.7 -

Actually thinking about it, most of my processed foods are dessert. I really like dessert. I added a few of you. I'm looking for more friends on here. Lots of mine seem to be inactive for quite some time now.
Turkey meatloaf? I would totally skip the desert for Beef meatloaf.
Are you here just to try to change our mind? Lol. Good luck with that! We can eat everything we want in moderation and it is much more enjoyable. Also, I don't eat meat so the first comment was pointless. I also don't really eat cookies. I'm more into pizza and french fries or a giant plate of nachos and no I do not regret it. I know my options and I choose to eat what I want!5 -

But it was d a m n good wasn't it? Lol.0 -
Oh on my OWN note! I FINALLY tried Halo Top ice cream. I HATE diet sweet foods and diet after tastes like in diet soda or protein shakes, etc...I can not stand stevia. HOWEVER, stevia is the very last ingredient on the list in this ice cream and I tried the S'more flavor. So good! I was very pleasantly surprised. It actually tastes kind of like caramel, which I am not big on, but it has a creamy texture that is very nice and the flavor is just mild enough that I could eat the entire pint without being overwhelmed - all for under 300 calories! Half a cup of ice cream is usually 250ish calories and in Halo Top it is about 80-100 calories! BIG difference!5

I have been trying to find Halo Top ice cream. Just to try, because when I like ice cream I tend to head for the Ben & Jerry's and at nearly 1000 calories for a pint, I have to work really hard to fit that in. (In my house, I eat a pint at at time ) So, Halo Top has intrigued me, but I can't find it anywhere! Supposedly it is carried at Kroger stores around me, but I have checked three with no luck. I can only find Arctic Zero and based on the reviews from that, I am not going to even bother.
I really do want to try Halo Top though.2 -
Oreos are good, but...

This thread is EVERYTHING. Love it. I've decided healthy-ish eating is the perfect fit for me. I like my junk food and chocolate too much to say goodbye!4

No doubt you can have treats and still stay within the limits but I would think that in order to get proper nutrition you can't survive on candy and cookies or pizza and burgers. Not every day and hoping you walked the mall enough to offset the damage.
It doesn't train you to eat proper portions and get some nutritional balance each day.
Hey, I eat my share of non traditional diet food every day but don't go overboard. I admit, I save up calories for my
bedtime treat and sometimes eat less of what IS good for me in order to have that treat. But I wouldn't do it every day,
all meals and I think promoting this type of eating as ok to do..."as long as the calories fit" is not good advice to someone
jumping on this forum and taking it literall.

Did she say she survives only on "candy and cookies or pizza and burgers"?
Why, oh why, do people always assume that "I'm not a 'clean' eater" = "I eat a diet of 100% Pop Tarts"?
And why would you feel the need to come into this lovely thread and lecture the OP? With a strawman argument, no less?23 -

Made with gruyere and sourdough is where it's at for me. With a hot bowl of tomato bisque for dipping.

Hugs to the whole thread! I would pretty much wither and die if I couldn't have mexican food on a regular basis. I'm Hispanic, y'all, it's in my blood! Feel free to add me, can always use more friends! Please include a message that you found me on this thread. What up!5

I've lost 100lbs and that was eating pizza and burgers and whatever else, just gotta remember PORTION control and exercise and also that you can't have a whole pizza everyday...lol.
I don't judge. EAT AWAY! lol6 -
Reply was not directed to the OP, never said it or even implied it ! More directed to the direction the
thread was going and how it could easily be perceived as a proper way to lose lbs. no one here would agree that
daily eating without at least an open eye toward nutrition is a healthy option.
Not a lecture by any means just an observation, sorry if you interpreted it that way.2 -

I have tried three of their flavors so far. I've tried s'mores, mocha chip (I think is what it's called), and oatmeal cookie. And yes, I ate the whole pint in one sitting because it was 300 or less calories and I think I even ate one as lunch one day. Surprisingly the oatmeal cookie one was my favorite, followed my the mocha chip. I tried the mocha chip one first and was really disappointed. It was chalky and gross. I liked the flavor, but the texture was horrible. I let it sit on the counter as recommended, but I did not enjoy it. My only complaint about the oatmeal cookie is the huge, raw oats. Like raw pieces of oatmeal. Not that it stopped me from eating it all, but still. This one had the most real ice cream like taste and texture for me. I agree with your assessment about the s'mores flavor and it tasting like caramel. I want to try the peanut butter flavor next but I'm waiting for when I'm really craving ice cream. The only place that sells it near me is a high-end grocery store and they're US$6-$7/each!! That's really a splurge for me but I'm looking forward to trying their other flavors.1 -

I was placed on this diet a year ago for digestive issues. Ended up eating turkey and brown rice almost exclusively for 8 weeks, as well as getting rid of coffee. It helped a lot to heal my system so that I could add normal food back in, as well as jump started my weight loss with 10 lbs. I also figured out that I have to keep my fatty foods down as well as some raw vegetables. Good luck!

Even when I was at my heaviest I wasn't "surviving on candy and cookies or pizza and burgers". I highly doubt there's anyone out there obese or otherwise that is solely subsisting on four foods : candy, cookies, pizza, and burgers.
The truth is I used to have the improper balance of calorie dense and less calorie dense foods. Even foods with higher nutritional value can be calorie dense.7 -
I eat junk/crap food almost every day. Still down 32 pounds. No one in this thread has said to do it at every meal.7
