The viewing went well, but they are people who already live in the village and their house isn't even on the market. It is being valued next week. ;) That would prolong the chain a lot. Oh well, we will see. We are getting a lot of pressure from our vendor's agent. Can't blame them. :*

We did a nice big shop and I got DH a Valentine's card. I've already ordered him a little present from Amazon. I bought my two white t shirts. Only £6.50 each. Loads of veg, fish and meat. And DH found the frozen leaf spinach. Bought two bags. :D

Was feeling a bit blah, but that's normal for me after a holiday.

Trout fillets tonight with mushy peas and loads of asparagus. All the way from Peru.

had to work late, then stop at Costco, then dinner, then HAD to catch "This is Us" - so it put me to 9:00 to do any exercise. but I drug myself up to do it! Did a light weight workout for shoulders, biceps and triceps - can't go heavy right now due to dislocating my shoulder - but it's getting a bit better and stronger.

Had another blizzard last night, but looks like a bit of sun trying hard to peek through today.

Psycho cat woke us up 3 times during the night, so dragging today. Also have grandson tonight, so will have to FORCE a workout again! haha Have a great day everyone!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm enjoying the stories and the humor! Yesterday was a beautiful almost-70 degrees...today, we're back to the 30's! If you don't like the weather in MO, just wait a minute!! Have a fabulous day everyone!

Tammy in Montana, oh I love"This Is Us". It doesn't really seem like a series just getting a glimpse of a family. All the characters are so multi-dimensional. I have a goal for this month to go to bed with husband at the same time he does, so I am going to watch it today. Don't tell me what's gonnsa happen (la-la LA can't hear youuu)!!

Today we travel with teenager to Longview Wa. For his DEP meeting. Suppose to rain most of the afternoon.

Our eldest son called us last night from GREECE! He is stationed on an aircraft carrier and presently not liking it. He started out in the Navy working on helicopters, and now works with jets. He isn't really keen with all the lines. It takes hours to get anything done, whether it's getting lunch, or getting off the ship. All the ships tours were filled before they even arrived to Greece. As a sailor, he can't leave the ship without a "buddy". And these buddies have to go to the same place you go to. My husband never had to do that, and could just explore freely ports his ships went to. Changing times in the Navy.

Becca - it's just the best show right?! I LOVE the characters! I won't give any spoilers, but we may need to chat after you watch it!

    What is DEP meeting?

My thanks to your family for its service. I grew up in the Air Force - my mom and dad were both A.F. - dad marine before a career in AF - and many military family members. and yes, changing times!

    Good afternoon all.
I was not on yesterday and just can't read through ALL the posts at this time.. but man there are some inspiring people in here!
I am soooo excited that I get to order my elliptical machine tomorrow. Hubby gets his bonus then .. woohoo.
I am currently doing the Acti-labs 7 day shred as a kick start to my weight loss and am happy to report that I am so far down 3.4 lbs this week. This is only a temporary kick start and I know that I will gain a bit of it back but it is teaching me to eat a little healthier!!
I hope everyone has an amazing day!!

I love This is us also. Love how they give you todays characters then you go back in time and see why they are who they are. Then you see them doing something in the present and they go back to understand who they are. I don't think I have ever seen Kate's boyfriend in his early life though. I just really love the main couple and how they are so deeply in love and both work so hard on it.

Starr in Ontario - what is Acti-labs 7 day shred? is it like one of those weight loss detox or shake/supplement plans? Yah for your own elliptical! that will be sweet!

Joyce, Indiana - me too! the concept is great - because it IS real life - we are who we are in large part because of our childhood and various events through our lives. I typically cry and laugh in almost every episode! It is interesting too to see how they hit on the whole weight loss/body image subject. I am curious what direction Kate will go with that.

    Hello all -

It's Hump Day, and I'm running late again. Had a conference call first thing in the morning and it took me this long to get to reading the group. I hate those early morning calls, as I'm not an early bird and it takes me awhile to get caffeinated and coherent.

jolenec1 - Hey, we all get discombobulated now and then. Hope you get recombobulated soon!

Yinka - I love the cufflinks! They'd make nice earrings too. Is that amber or fused glass?

Carol - My thoughts go out to you for wisdom, resolution, and peace.

Sarah - I hope you can carve some time out of your overloaded day to de-stress with a walk around the building now and then!

Marcelyn - Laughed out loud at your funny. Philip calls PETA "People Eating Tasty Animals."

karenleona - Congratulations on your new grandbaby! I hope Reid is doing better by now, and that your daughter is getting some rest.

Jayne, tekavincent, and any other newcomers - Welcome to the group! Dive right in!

I just ordered three new pairs of tights on Amazon. One of them is leopard print - va va voom! They were well reviewed, and on sale for much less than LuLaRoe. I'll still be a LLR junkie, but this was a nice way to build up the collection. The brand is Viv Collection.

I've been procrastinating about making a meal plan this week, and I need to sit down and do it right now so Philip can pick up the groceries after work.

    Take care, all...

Karen – Congrats on new grandson. Sorry your grandson had breathing problems and was put in NICU. My DYS stopped breathing on me when he was about 16 months old. I had laid him down on his back and turned to get his diaper out of the dresser. Turned around and thought he had finally noticed the mobile hanging from the fixture, then I saw his lips turning blue, I picked him up and started screaming for Louis. I was upstairs and headed down; Louis was on the landing. For all I know, I could have thrown him down to Louis, ran by the phone upstairs and to the kitchen and called the ambulance. We were close enough to hear the ambulance before I even hung up the phone. Took him to the hospital [ourselves, never did that again and won't for any reason for a family member] and they ran all sorts of blood work, nothing showed up and I asked when the Pediatrician would get there. Was told he [mine’s partner] only came, if a child needed to be hospitalized. “He stopped breathing!” I was beyond shock when they told me to ‘take him home and watch him’. No shoot-a-monkey … I was definitely going to watch him. That was back in the day when babies were put on their stomach to sleep' or on their sides with a wedge pillow behind them. Now they are put on their backs. I called my Pediatrician as soon as I thought they’d be ‘in the office’ and was told to get there ASAP. I was still in my gown and robe and he had not even been dressed. He checked him over really well, then told me to ‘stay there’. I don’t know how many ‘heads’ went ‘rocking and rolling’; but, he gave me his home address and number and told me to call him ‘anytime’ I needed him; and to call him ‘if’ the answering service said he was not ‘on duty’. By that point we had purchased a house in his neighborhood (about 4 blocks away). He asked me questions that upset me greatly. When he started asking questions we determined that he had had some sort of reaction to the MMR vaccine. So when he was old enough to go to college and would have needed a booster, Pediatrician had to write a letter for him to be ‘excused’ for not being able to have it as required. As long as he was a baby/young child and sick, I’d sleep in his bedroom. Put on Phenobarbital and he would ‘rock’ in his bed to go to sleep. Every morning we would screw all the screws back in, he rocked that hard. I had febrile seizures as a child. My Mother said she never had to take my temperature; as soon as it hit 101.3°, I had a seizure. Had them until I was about 7-years-old. Same with son; now I have them again; but, I think that was because I became “Lithium Toxic” and almost died and went several days have them almost non-stop. Louis cannot watch a TV show where someone is having seizures … he has to leave the room. I’ve had a few that he witnessed. He has a very soothing voice; and, can usually ‘talk me down’. I doubt your daughter will be any more confident in dealing with him than I was. It is scary seeing your child either having a seizure or having breathing issues. My prayers and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} go to all y’all, especially her (and the baby). I hope they figure out why it happened and they can do whatever to ‘correct’ it.

Jayne – You are "blessed" to have both parents living. I miss both my parents. Really missed my Daddy; and, did not think I’d miss my Mother as much as I do. She really was a ‘fount’ of so much and I miss being able to “ask her, ‘what does this mean’?” Both of them read voraciously; I started later in life. I enjoy anything outside; never thought we’d retire in SW GA; but, we can make a beach trip in about 4 hours. Not something DH likes doing unless we stay for a long weekend; but, my BF and I have done it in a day – her sister has a small RV parked near it.

Michele – If I happen to take something back to the grocery store to exchange it; I sort of ‘expect’ an even exchange unless the price of one is extremely different from the other. It’s just nice to shop some place who will take exchanges. I’ve bought milk before only to open it up and it be sour but with a good date. Usually, that means their refrigerator went out during the night and they need to know it.

It is the cold breeze I feel, summer or winter, if I wear a short T-shirt! My BF gave me a lovely; but, plain T-shirt that had off the shoulder seams; and, she doesn’t like the way they fit her. Beautiful ‘periwinkle’ and I ruined it the 2nd time I wore it, spilt a drop of clear nail polish on it. I’ve never seen the same color of ‘anything’. It looked so good on me. I have an idea of where she bought it; but, way out of my price range. She’s given me several tops that she has only worn once or twice. I always compliment her, she always looks so ‘put together’.

Canookie -Whoops for teacher on ‘tasting’ the puppy … I’m surprised the boy did not start laughing. Of course, they say (whoever ‘they’ are) that you can drink urine if you run out of water on a deserted island. I’ll go for salt water, I think. But, now she knows what it is like. ... and I would have to have one or the other of her first guesses to do so.

Joyce – With all the medications I take I have a “Parkinson’s-like’ tremor in my hands. Some days a lot worse than others. I’m surprised the bank has not called and asked, ‘Did you write check ### to XXXX for $$$$ on day such-and-such’? It can get that bad. I usually have to ‘hold’ it with my left hand. It is like when you have to sign the "Etch-a-Sketch" thin when you pay with a check or credit card. It has sort of made painting and drawing a little difficult, especially the details; but, I love painting and drawing that I do it anyway and when I notice it, I stop. Actually, the shaking works better with my drawing. I just hate that it can get so bad at times.

Katla – I don’t ‘add’ salt to anything; and, like you I do notice the salt. But, on tomatoes I have to add salt. Nothing better than a big old homegrown tomato, bacon, and lettuce sandwich with mustard and just a little mayonnaise. Unfortunately, our ‘tomato lady’ died about 2 years ago; and, her husband tried it; but with her gone, he just can’t get into doing it himself. Thankfully, our neighbor had enough to share with us and DOS’s family. He is the only one who eats tomatoes at his house. I told Louis if she brings both bags to us, I’m going to take a few out of DOS’s bag before he gets it. LOL!

If I go to bed early; I am going to wake up about 4:00am; as long as I get 7 hours of sleep I am usually ‘ok’; but, occasionally I will go back to bed or take a nap at some point during the day. If left to wake up on my own it is usually 8:15am or 9:30am … like on weekends. I've tried going to bed after the 11:00pm news and still wake up. Louis usually wakes me up for a ‘fresh’ cut of coffee in the morning. Nothing worse than warmed over coffee, it is always too bitter. Reminds me of drinking DYS’s coffee (Louisiana – they drink their coffee STONG). Even his wife says it is too strong; but, she doesn’t drink it too often.

Becca – I’ve done that before. Our TV, last night, kept jumping channel to channel without us touching a thing! GGGRRRrrrrr!!!!! I love "This is Us"; but, I think that Randall is 'so smart' that he almost doesn't have 'much walking around sense' ... way past being OCD. But, I am sure it was obvious from very early on in his life that he was different from the rest of the family. With all these celebrities adopting children from overseas; when there are babies and children right here in the USA, it is little wonder that they have issues as they get older. That, the paparazzi, and money and nannies. Are they really 'wanted' or 'not' or is it just for 'public viewing'. It's hard to keep them private when you live in a 'fish bowl'.

Becca and Tammy - I love "This is Us" as well. I hope it is not just one season; because it has certainly taken off (or so it seems). Much better than all the Zombie and Reality shows.

Kelly – I had been retired for many years; but, when my former boss had cancer and died from it, I was so sad because I had worked for him 20 years. He was a great friend and made working for him a real ‘joy’.

Sharon – Cracker our Jack Rat ‘thinks’ she is a lap top, too; she’s a bit too long legged to be one, but, that doesn’t stop her from climbing up in my lap or ‘jumping’ up in Louis’.

If you are 70 (maybe younger) you can get “free access” to Federal Parks in the USA. Did not know that until we went to St. Augustine, FL.

WOW! The HGTV Home 2017 in St. Simons Island, GA is beautiful. Enter it daily along with Louis entering it daily. Someone is going to have a beautiful home; but, the taxes on it is going to ‘kill them’.

pitegny- I started having the ocular migraine's two years ago when I first got bit by the tic but until I just read what you wrote I had no idea there was a correlation between the two! Which is something that I will talk to my daughter about because she started having ocular migraine's and she could have Lymes disease and not even know about it!

This is Us is my new favorite show, too. Have y'all seen where Toby wears a fat suit and is pretty thin in real life? I saw a pic on a FB so googled it. One of the articles said that the actress who plays Kate is contractually obligated to lose weight. Interesting stuff.

drkatiebug - I did see Toby on some interview show without the "fat suit" and talking about it. I had wondered if Kate wore one as well - but from what you said, she must not. It will be interesting to see if she loses weight through the show and how. Now, they just better not let her sleep with the creepy dude!

Peach1948 - it's a great show. It airs on Tuesday nights on NBC. I think you might can watch prior episodes on nbc.com, but not positive. i heard the first season is also available on Hulu but not netflix. glad it sounds like whatever you have going on may be ok! I hear it's been warm in the South. I live in Montana, but my parents are in Alabama - they've had 70's I believe! I could use that for a couple days! ha!

karenleona: I am sending good thoughts for you, your daughter, your grandson and the whole family.

pitegny: We have tried and tried to like quinoa. The nutrition is wonderful, but we haven't loved it enough to want to eat it. It seems too much like eating birdseed. Perhaps I need to find a better recipe.

Peach: Thanks for your good wishes for DH's surgery. So far things are looking good. He has a follow up in the doctor's office tomorrow.

Lanette in SW WA: I envy your gardening space. I used to be a master gardener, but haven't been active for a long time. I was trained by Duane Hatch. He was County Extension Agent in Lane County, Oregon, back in the seventies. I have so many good memories of that class and the other students. Regarding exercise equipment: The best training equipment is the kind you like and will use. I've never cared for elliptical trainers. Our gym has several and I used them in the past but never really liked how I felt afterward. I have a recumbent bike set up on a trainer in my living room and also use one at the gym before yoga class. I put the recumbent bike in the living room to encourage DH to move more and decided to set a good example. We've both been using it.

Mia: I also got a kick out of, "Golly, a girl can't have an off day without everybody thinking the cheese has slid off the cracker."

Becca: I'm sorry your son isn't enjoying life on the carrier. They are huge & have so many sailors aboard, it must be like living in a crowded, floating city. Sending him good thoughts.

Ginger: It looks like you're doing well with your goals. Four out of six check marks is good work. :flowerforyou:

Carol in GA: I am glad things are looking up & will keep up the good thoughts.

DH is done with surgery and we are home. He is currently asleep in the living room, getting much needed rest. He has an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow, and we have an errand to run for our daughter. Things are looking good right now. Yay!!!

:)Katla, I'm glad to hear that you are home from surgery and that so far, it seems to have gone well. Sending good wishes that the follow-up visit will be good news.

:) I got to walk alone this morning with the dogs. Both my friends cancelled and Jake stayed home to vacuum the house (with the dogs gone, they wouldn't be scared by the vacuum). It gave me two hours to listen to my audio book and it was a great change. It started snowing again just as we headed home. I had over 11,000 steps by the time I got to my line dance class at 9:00.

:) I like the treadmill more than the elliptical because my step counter recognizes treadmill steps but not elliptical. I much prefer actual walking outdoors to either of them. I am grateful every day that I live in a place where I can walk safely for hours every day.
