Halo Top...how the heck do they do it???

Halo Top. It's amazing.
No really. It is. Every time I've gone to the grocery store the last six months, the freezer shelves have been empty. I knew that it was either just that good, or a fad that would quickly dissipate. Likely the latter, at least I thought.
Fast forward to last Tuesday. I went to the store for some salad fixins, and lo and behold, there sat one lonely pint of Halo Top oatmeal cookie. Not exactly my first flavor choice, but how could I be a decent human being if I left it there, all alone?
After a delicious crab cake dinner that evening, I decided to dive into the pint. I took one skeptical scoopful, and amazingly enough, it tastes like ice cream.
Let me say that again. Ice-creamy ice cream.
Nothing like it's competitor, Arctic Zero. That stuff is NOT ice cream. I'm actually not even sure what that is. Maybe frozen skim milk?
Back to business. Halo Top. Buy it. Devour it. The whole pint if you have to. It's worth every delicious bite.
I'm forever changed.

The oatmeal cookie is my favorite!!!5

There's a birthday cake flavor that literally tastes like birthday cake. I let it soften for a few minutes before I eat it.6

It's ice and artifical sweetener and hobo sweat, I think.31

yessssssss Birthday cake flavor. A thousand yesses.7

Obsessed! Sea Salt Caramel or the Cookie Dough is amazing!!! It's so good - and actually filling - that I can't usually eat the whole thing.6

Pistachio as well as Cookies and Cream are my favorites right now. I'm trying to get my local stores to carry it because right now i have to drive out of the area to get it.3
-
Would try but it's not sold in my part of Canada and the price is likely comparable to B&J's.3

The salted caramel is my favourite. Pistachio and strawberry didn't taste like much to me, and the cookies and cream is nice but has a slight "sweetener" flavour to it that the salted caramel does not. Birthday cake I had one time and I thought it upset my stomach.2

B&J here is almost $5 a pint. halo top is cheaper.3 -

Yeah, I was going to say that it's crazy expensive. And honestly I think it's good, but I don't agree that it's just like ice cream. It's nowhere near as "creamy" in my opinion. It's icier to me, like grocery-store brand ice cream. Having said that, it's yummy for the calories. But at this point I have plenty of lower cal snacks I like, none of which are @ $5 a pop, for a serving or two. Obviously, plenty of people disagree with me, since it sells out all the time!6 -

B&J is $3.50 here, Halo Top is often over $6, and it never goes on special.0 -
It's definitely not as good as real ice cream but it is an excellent substitute when you consider the calorie savings. Peanut butter cup is the best flavor (according to me) but I haven't had one I didn't like yet.5

I don't know how they do it, but I think it involves pixies, rainbow dust and unicorns. Honestly, I don't care, I am just glad they do it because it has saved me thousands of calories. I like my ice cream by the pint and B&J was just killing my calorie budget.6

That would put it at $14 a pint.
Fourteen dollars a pint.
FOURTEEN.
DOLLARS.
A.
PINT.

Be grateful you can get it for so cheap! It's $12 for a tub here in Aus, which is why i haven't tried it yet. It would want to be super awesomely delicious for that price...2 -

Living where the food has to be shipped in sucks. Australia gets screwed over a lot with pricing.0 -

Yep. Food is THE largest expense/bill in our household.0 -
I've tried it..not that impressed. If I want to spend $4-6 on ice cream, I'm going to walk to my local ice cream store and getting a scoop of super high fat deliciousness. It's portion controlled and super good. But that's me. If I have a pint in the house, I'll eat a pint. And then I'll be disappointed that it doesn't taste like Ben & Jerry's or Haagen Dazs.10

I have never heard of halo top until this discussion, I have tried arctic zero and didn't care for it at all, but it is pretty nutritious considering the sugar and protein content. What kind of nutrition content does halo top have?0

This is the flavor I've been searching for, week after week, but it's always sold out. I'm almost to the point that I would jump someone in the parking lot for the last pint.3 -
