Getting close. I should be able to fit in at least 5 more miles between now and Tuesday. I am going to have to see if I can push myself a little more for March with a longer goal.

    2/1/17 - 6 miles

    2/3/17 - 12 miles
    2/4/17 - 7 miles
    2/5/17 - 7 miles

    2/7/17 - 7.5 miles
    2/8/17 - 6 miles

    2/10/17 - 12 miles
    2/11/17 - 4.5 miles
    2/12/17 - 7.5 miles

    2/14/17 - 7 miles
    2/15/17 - 7.2 miles

    2/17/17 - 14 miles
    2/18/17 - 3.25 miles
    2/19/17 - 7.5 miles
    2/20/17 - 2 miles
    2/21/17 - 3.25 miles
    2/22/17 - 8 miles

2/24/17 - 15 miles Same trick with 1/4 miles (Flat, Up, Flat, Down) on the treadmill. 2 hours and 40 minutes worth.

@RespectTheKitty My husband bought me http://tinyurl.com/this-hydration-vest for Christmas last year before my (failed) marathon in Las Vegas. I think mine is only 1.5 liters, but it turned out to be plenty, anyway. This particular vest is shorter than many of the others I was looking at, which fit funny on my short torso.

    @7lenny7 That bacon looks amazing!

@RespectTheKitty This is the belt I have, and I really like it. It has 2 10 oz bottles, and I usually fill one with Gatorade and another with water. I even race with it on for longer distances. I wear it kind of low...on my butt...not my waist. It doesn't bounce at all. I've had no issues with the bottles leaking either. I'll stick my phone, keys, and gels in the pouch.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KR3KS0M/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1487972444&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=running+hydration+belt

There's also a hydration belt by Amphipod that I'd check into. I haven't bought it yet, but I've been eyeing them. It looks like the bottles may be easier to put in place and the bottles are supposed to work without having to pull the stopper up...similar to those Gatorade bottles. They have a 2 bottle and a 4 bottle option.

I did buy a Camelbak for the summer. It gets so freaking hot here, and I'd easily go through my fluids last summer running shorter distances.

I do prefer a waist hydration belt though...it's lighter and doesn't keep me warm

Not sure if it's been mentioned (I'm way behind on comments!), but that running documentary that was mentioned yesterday or the day before is "From Fat to Finish Line", streaming on Netflix. I started it last night, and it is fun and hopeful as stories like this can be.

Speaking of hopeful, my 100 mile stretch goal is within sight!

Thanks for posting the correct title. I knew From Fat to Fit didn't sound right

I just realized there's only 5 more days/runs left in February! Having fewer days this month does put more of a crunch on getting the miles in!

Tell me about it! 6.04 EVERY day to make my 2017 goal (of 2017 miles)! I'll be glad when this month is over!

Another great weather day. I was busy this morning so brought my running clothes to work so I could run right after - and it was 66 degrees! I used to live in a neighborhood near my work so I it was nice to take a run around and check things out. Downside was that my work is at the top of a hill and it was nice going down but tough going back up at the end.

Tomorrow's long run should still be good - in the 50s in the morning - but hopefully it will get done before the rain comes and temps start dropping. Then there is supposed to be some snow overnight. Perfect timing for the Lake Effect Half Marathon on Sunday - which I guess if you're going to name it that you expect some snow. I'm not running it but I am volunteering at the finish line so I'll be standing out there for hours. Need to think about how to dress and plan for that (a thermos of something warm...).

Have a great running weekend everyone!

That's part of why I can't take monthly mileage goals very seriously; months are different lengths, I'm in different parts of different training programs, and where the weekends fall at the beginning and end of month has an impact on how many miles fall into one month or another.

THBS, I do my best estimate based on weekly training goals. I'll fall short of that estimate in February, but I'm not trying to make up for the miles lost to travel early in the month. That way lies madness, or at least injury.

Rest day today. As of 8:30 PM, the forecast for 10 AM gun time tomorrow is thunderstorms, and 95% chance of precipitation. I'll get wet running tomorrow. Or maybe they'll cancel the race due to lightning. Or perhaps both.

Didn't run today. It's my husband's last week off work and once again the day just evaporated :-p Tomorrow is also up in the air as we're waiting to find out if his grandparents are up for a visit (it's visit 2 hour drive). So I don't know. I'll get 2-3 more runs this month in sure.

I didn't have a great week of running... I hate running inside on the treadmill. I barely made it through 30 mins on Tuesday after arriving in Dallas - I was exhausted, the gym at the hotel was hot and stuffy and I just felt terrible. Looking at my HR from Tuesday and it was all over the place so no wonder. My interval run the next morning was not great but much better. I didn't feel like I was dying at least :) Thursday was no run but lots of walking at the airport waiting to come home and I got here just in time to take Hobbes to class. Today I was so busy I didn't get out and when I finally did it was too late to run so we just went for a fast walk to get outside a bit. I will run tomorrow - I leave again on Sunday and won't get to run here but I may try it again at the hotel... Hopefully the gym is nicer - it is a nicer hotel. This was one of my lowest non-injury weeks in a very long time, even lower than my taper weeks :( I am going to have to work to keep next week from being just as bad.

    Total: 143.69

    Monthly goals:
    Mileage goal: 150
Real Goal: Stay healthy enough to get into the swing of real marathon training.

Today's notes: I fell into the trap of running too fast again. I'm really having a hard time breaking this habit, and I know it's going to bite me in the *kitten* in the long term. Ran 15.12 miles, which is a distance PR...by like .08 miles. But I did it 2sec/mile faster than last week's run, and there was no fast finish this time!

I know that part of the reason was the temp. 3F (1-6C) with a wind that switched from NW to NE at 10mph, made for a cold run with a headwind both ways. My left glove wasn't on quite right, so my hand got cold. I lost all feeling in my index finger on that hand and the others were pretty darn cold.

I ended up running the 15.12 miles in 2:24:22 for a 9:33 pace, which is stretch marathon goal pace -22sec. Too fast, like I said, but I got it done.

Looks like meeting my goal is within reach. My runs tomorrow and Monday are both 4 miles, plus the 4 strides on Monday.

4.5 on frozen (but bare of snow) XC ski trails this morning. This was my longest run since the HM last month, and it felt pretty ok. I've really slacked off this month, in large part to a lingering cold that had me sore as hell after my last few short runs. Hoping that's in the past now. I'm ready to feel like a runner again!

How do you know it's too fast? Are you still monitoring HR? Do you feel like you are racing your workouts, in particular your long runs?

HR was 165 That's too high. I wasn't tracking HR during the run, just checked after the run, just zoned out and ran. truth is it might not be too fast. I'm still new enough to not know for sure where my limits are.

Really nice long run this morning with 63 degree temp. Kept a good pace while chatting with my run buddy and made it over 8 miles, so was really pleased with that.

After I got home, I took Stella out for a long walk/hike. I knew it was going to turn colder and start raining so wanted to get it done right away. We *almost* made our 5 mile loop but the cold rain came pelting down suddenly with about .5 mile left to get home. We had to book it but were of course still soaked. Stella seemed a little mad about subjected to that but we're all toasty and full-bellied again so it's all good.
