What nobody tells you about losing weight

No one told me I would have to keep checking my too small clothes stack regularly.
I had favorite clothes from years ago saved up for when I can fit them again. Went throught them last night and I am too small for some of them
Lesson learned.29 -
It's No-Pants Friday. I grabbed the boxers I wear under my kilt (yeah, I know ) and they fell off. Didn't expect to have to improvise at oh-dark this morning....21

I'm in a pipe band. The struggle is real. I have to get my buckles moved so the whole thing doesn't end up around my ankles.

Looking for opportunities to run around the house in just a bra and shorts so small they really should just be underwear become alarmingly common.
Oh and oversize sweaters magically become oversize ... and you may or may not be wearing shorts underneath them (but always wear underwear. Please).16 -
- I've lost over 200 lbs/ more than 50% of my body weight, and nobody told me how long it would take my brain to catch up to the scale and the mirror. I still envision myself about 150 lbs heavier. I still refer to myself as a "fat girl."
- People seem a lot nicer/friendlier now, which makes me feel a bit skeptical. I realize this may be in reaction to me being happier with myself but it's still taking some getting used to.
- It is a lot harder to take a compliment. For some reason I cannot wrap my head around being called "skinny." It's just not true to me. I've ALWAYS been overweight to varying degrees and am still "obese" by the BMI scale. I don't see how someone with a BMI of 33 can be called "skinny" with a straight face.
- I didn't realize how hard it would be to give up some favorite items of clothing that are way, way too big. I miss you, turquoise dress.
- Nosy people. What makes you think it's ok to ask how much weight I've lost or what my goal is? (Yes, I realize I shared the weight loss # here but this is MFP, not the courthouse hallway!). I don't need your unsolicited diet tips, I've figured out what works for me, and quite well, thank you.
- I'm cold, all the time.
- Doctors visits are so much easier. It could be because my new doctor is awesome but I don't feel that every condition/ache/pain/issue is dismissed as a need to lose weight.
- New discoveries about my body. Some are positive, like hey, I have a nice waist, and I'm finding bones I never knew were under there. Some are negative, like the fact that the muscle on my arms looks great, but there's some saggy wings underneath, and my thighs are huge and lumpy. The most positive is having a lap for the dog and the baby, and crossing my legs every chance I get.
- My boobs are deflated and it's still hard to find a bra because of the cup size, not the band.34 -

I always wanted to know what they wear under there. Now I know:baggy boxers.
Edit: my smiley face looks like he's leering. I didn't mean it that way.8 -
spent 84$ on holey tight leggings and 3 crop tops (very slutty ones i have NO idea why...) 55$ on 2 bras (turns out after losing 85 pounds im still size 36 DD ? yet none of my bras before fit and their WAY to big now? but new ones fit amazing in a larger size xD?) and 25$ on new sports bras
No one told me id become an addict to shopping...
Or that id need new bras constantly...but in the same size? Cup stays the same but volume doesnt? i dont get it....12 -

How annoying it is that sorting out the washing takes so much longer as I have to check all of the labels to sort out which are my clothes and which are my teenage daughter's. I keep mixing up her and my clothes after washing them. It drives her insane
And my clothes drawers are looking distinctly empty as my smaller clothes take up less space. I think that a shopping trip is in order . . . .18 -

Might be time for her to do her own!24 -

I agree with this. Mine have all done their own laundry since their arms were long enough to reach the back of the machine. Their laundry baskets were too heavy for them to lift, so they dragged 'em.9 -

Bra sizing is the weirdest thing. I started at a 40B and am now a 36D. Apparently as the band size goes down, so does the cup size, which makes no sense to me at all. But I definitely had to learn that lesson over the past year or so.3 -
The band size is the actual measurement in inches, but the cup size is how many inches bigger your breasts are than your rib cage. So as you lose weight, the comparison between the two measurements may change, or it may not. Like, if your band size goes down a lot, but your boobs don't shrink much, your cup size will go up. If they shrink equally, your cup size could stay the same.
I was a 44G; am now a 36DD. So my boobs are shrinking faster than my rib cage.22 -

Thats why im very confused mine hasnt went down at all cup size but definatly has waist size. XD But i guess why the bras i had werent fitting was im guessing weight loss in my arms (FINALLY!) They were so huge i hadnt lost an inch since i started 85 pounds ago in my arm xD So same cup size, Just needed tighter non stretched straps i suppose4 -

Yeah. I've got a custom kilt I've got to return to the maker and get remade, not altered.5 -

This.
Because I have been large for so long, now I am losing I have heaps of expensive lovely clothes that now swim on me. The necklines all fall off my shoulder. I miss wearing them. I have lost just under half what I need to lose so can't buy any new clothes yet. Might have to go op shopping soon.7 -

I have made sure to have one pair of jeans that fit. When I can pull them off without undoing them I buy a new pair. I feel good in them and it helps me see my progress16

I've been plugging away on MFP for five months now and I am amazed at the crazy way time seems to warp while on this process☺. It seems like each day and week passes slowly but the months have just flown by!
Must be because I need to be aware and thinking about each meal in the day and I wait for each Sunday to register my weight but it seems like just yesterday that I started this process (42 pounds ago). It keeps me motivated because I know that even if a day can be long and hard, as long as I stick with it, before I know it a few more months will go by and I will be at my goal. Very strange awareness of the passing of time.27 -

It is a little like raising children - the days are long but the years are short.24 -

Wrinkles and bones, especially on your face. The more weight I lose off my face, the older I feel. Without that extra fat filler to puff out my cheeks, the wrinkles seem more real, and the outline of my cheek bones being visible makes me feel quite gaunt.17

Yes, the wrinkles and bones and sags and bags have been a bit of a downside for me, but the extra spring in my step makes the weight loss well-worthwhile. I'm 70 years old and closing in on 70 pounds down, feeling better than I have in many years.38 -
23 years old and down almost 60lbs since 2011 and am at a weight that I haven't been since I was like in 6th grade (140.6 as of today) and my mind has not caught up most days. I just don't feel like I've changed. Taken pictures, taken measurements, clothes have been given away because they're too big, but I still can't SEE the difference in person. Some days I see it but mostly I just keep powering through I guess.28

It will click one of these days. Try new experiences that u wouldn't have tried previously, for ex: bellydancing at home or at the gym, simulated sky diving, etc.
