Lanette Thai Is Big Debbie, did you give my little Debbie a workout.
I just climbed in bed with my heating mattress pad turned on. It is cole here in Flintstone Maryland. I will take your 50 degrees. We have been spoiled this year with mild weather.
Yesterday I roasted a Chicken, an overweight, chicken and today I made a pot of chicken noodle soup and a pot of chicken and dumplings so I am ready for the cold temperatures.
I have been on this forum for about a week or ten days and really enjoy it. I have been busy trying to figure my food out and figure this site out, which is going to take a while. The last time I was at this forum was last week page 16. I had a busy week and I came back today and I think 30 some or more pages. There is a novel here for me to read. I did read several pages and I am going to catch up some more this afternoon. This is so therapeutic for me and I enjoy all the stories pictures, personal stories and the whole works
I am one who can find myself in depressions at times and this is such a help. I have a few new friends so far which is nice because I live in a very rural area, which I was not brought up in. It is a 40 minute drive for the closest grocery, mall, dollar store, bank, etc. so I hate two hours of driving to do things so I don't go to the gym and don't have a lot of communication with many people. This is a very beautiful place and there is a Casino and spa and lake and river and plenty of outdoor things to do when it is warm enough.
I have a Fitbit which is my best friend. Lol. This past week I hit 2000 miles which I was so proud of. I spent quite a few years being seditary fighting breast cancer, back and neck problems, lymphedema, fibromyalgia and so on. I was one that always couldn't do this and I couldn't do that and I'm to tired and every excuse in the book.
Finally something hit me in the head and said what r u doing to your self. I got my Fitbit and would be moving as much as I could. Sometimes still at ten at night I could be firing thru just to get to 5000 steps and then to get to 7000.
Now I love to walk and I will push myself till I'm ready to fall over. This winter I can feel how much stronger I am and with the help of all of you I am inspire and feel there is nothing that I can't do.
To all of you that have been sick, in the hospital, and care givers that have been taking care of your loved ones, I send prayers that you all get through and god bless you.
To all of you, each and everyone is special and don't ever doubt yourselves. Love yourself for the person you are on the inside and out. We are all different in so many ways and
Debbie

Heather - I don't think he's consciously trying to sabotage me. We are trying to have supper every night at 6:30pm and he had an urge for breakfast. Jumped up at 6pm and started cooking. I was working at the kitchen table and it smelled so good. And... without my own plan for supper - I left myself vulnerable. He's just not 100% on board with my way of eating. He's not ready to make the changes HE needs to make for himself. Ultimately - I make the decision about what I put in my mouth. So... he doesn't get high marks for support... yet. I have faith... he will get there. And... so will I. ❤

Happy Sunday Everyone! Made bean soup with a ham hock today. Husband loved loved it!
Rinsed my hair, feels a bit waxy still from the sebum, natural oils in the scalp, but otherwise its doing OK. Notice less strands on the shower drain, and in my brush. Hair feels stronger. Its getting a personality I suppose.

Lisa – Congratulations on quitting smoking, I did about 30 years ago (before 1st child) very difficult but very rewarding…write me if need support!
Ginger – my husband (retired) does all the grocery shopping surprised me with a pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream, I haven’t really told him I am counting calories and back on fitness pal! I was successful on it before and I guess just have not committed enough yet to share!
It was a beautiful bright sunny day here! Other than going to work to catch up on grading and planning today was great! Still sunny out now…of course I will not but so happy tomorrow morning getting ready for work…I hate the spring ahead, love the fall behind! But if I got a vote I would vote against day light saving time!
Just watching the national news about the storm coming in the North East…watch out saying the worse storm this year! Please be careful all!

Seeing the picture of Pooh and Tiger reminds me of the time I was in a play in high school as Tiger and fell of the stage! Luckily the audience did not know it was not planned...at least that is what I told myself!1

Lenora: That artist's story and his creations are AH-MAAAZING. Thanks for sharing.
Lanette: Today I tried out your Low Carb/Flaxseed/Almond Meal muffin recipe. Two thumbs up! When poured into my small silicon muffin liners it made two tall muffins, which I enjoyed with just a smidge of peanutbutter. Will be doing these again. Thank you!
Every since I started this thread, I've really embraced cooking, which was never one of my favorite activities. I owe it to Heather, Michele, Re, Leigh and all of you who share your joy of making and sharing meals. The SkinnyTaste website and enewsletters have been tremendously inspiring, too. This week, I made the skinny taste shrimp cakes. Yummmm!
Spent most of this morning cooking meals to stock in our little freezer:
> Butternut squash "meatloaf" from Jerry James Stone. This was clipped from the monthly Costco magazine. Instead of one large loaf, I formed 3 small ones. It was alot of work, but I can tell they will be delish.
> Easy quiche, a favorite of DH's
> Slow cooked black beans. Oh lordy, I put two pounds in, when we would have been fine with one. Oh well.
It must be getting closer to spring as after all the cooking I put another 2 hours into deep cleaning my kitchen cabinets and stovetop. You know all the sticky grimy bits that collect in the grooves and around the knobs? Yay, all gone. Also did a 'detailing' of my beloved InstantPot. For anyone thinking of getting one of these, I wholeheartedly endorse this product. I get multiple appliances in one, so easy to justify giving away the large, old crockpot.
To everyone in the path of the blizzard, take care. Be safe. Hunker down and make the best of the time. Movie time??
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Ohh I reboiled the ham hock I used from the bean soup, adding more water, 2 tsp of chicken bouillon paste, 1/4 cup drained kidney beans, 1 oz of turkey meat, and 2 cups of shredded green cabbage. It is cooking slowly. That plus, coffee and 1 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter is my future! Yeah!

Busy weekend. Friday, travelled to Cleveland to visit my parents ... almost turned around when I hit white-out snow and flashing "travel warnings" on the thruway. But my college son was flying into Cleveland on Saturday, so I soldiered on. I do not like driving on snowy/windy highways. Fortunately, it was only on predominate lake bands and I got there fine. Return trip with son saw some snow, but was pretty much uneventful. While we're not going to get the blizzard conditions of the East coast, the lakeshore area is going to see some more heavy snow. And I'm not looking forward to that as I have to get my husband to his scheduled surgery Wednesday morning! So ready for spring.
We finally did get power back Friday after I left. So 2-1/2 days without electric. The generator was a big plus, but since husband can barely walk, it meant I did a lot of the work. My back muscles are screaming. Pulling on the cord for the generator just about did me in. Nearly killed my husband when I found out there's a battery quick start but it doesn't work because he let the battery die! I think, after this next back surgery, we have to seriously consider an automatic whole house generator. I'm fairly capable, but I'm definitely wearing out.
Despite a lot of commotion around me, I am staying on track with my eating. That's a huge win for me.
Thinking of you all.

Hello ladies: Very tired today after time change. It always seems to take about a week for me to adjust. Went to church and sang in choir, then to a funeral for a 104 yo lady who died recently. What a marvelous life she led. Got her masters degree when it was not common for women and taught in a college in MN. She was not in the service but worked in a civilian capacity during the war in charge of getting ordinance and supplies to the soldiers. She was with-it and sassy right up to the end.
We had lots of wind the last couple of days and were without power for most of the night. It has been back on since early, about 4:00 this morning and luckily has remained on.
DD and I bought two new blueberry bushes to plant where we think some were but died. We have six bushes that we uncovered from waist-high weeds when we moved in here. We are working on getting them to have berries again. We got a whole six berries the first year and had about 5 dozen last year. The new ones are a different variety so we shall see what happens.
Annieoldie - I had a pulmonary embolus in 2008 and had to get back to exercise very slowly afterwards. I have a Fitbit and started with just 250 steps at a time several times a day and also did stretches. I added Laughter Yoga once a week to that after a while and just kept gradually increasing things then when I went back to work I added water walking and range of motion exercises. I agree with the others, you just have to take it in small steps and be persistent.
Lisa - Congratz on quitting the smoking!!!
Everyone take care, Sue in WA3
