I hope you aren't trying to lose weight. In fact, I seriously hope you are trying to gain weight. While I do think people put often to much stock in BMI, 15.4 is really low and definitely cause for concern. Why are you trying to maintain such a low weight?
I'm actually quite healthy! I'm very petite but I'm also only 22. I maintain on a pretty low amount of calories so I track it on MFP
Just because you feel healthy doesn't mean you actually are. At 88 pounds you're a good 20 pounds underweight.
I was just at the doctor for an unrelated issue and I was given a clean bill of health other than my weight being low. Annual lab work was great as well. I understand and appreciate the concern though!
There's no way a doctor gave okay to being 20lbs underweight..
Ditto. My sister is 5'3" and when she was anorexic she got down to 90lbs. The doctor said if she didn't start to turn around on her own in 3 months he was recommending hospitalization. Thankfully that was the motivation she needed to get well.
Unfortunately denial is a powerful drug.7 -

I know it's mostly water/poop/actual food bulk but it's concerning to me that one cheat weekend would equal 9 pounds! That's crazy since I've stayed the same weight for months.
It's because your weight is so low that you've essentially destroyed your metabolism. Your body is holding on to every calorie you feed it for dear life (literally). There is a reason why anorexics needs to reintroduce food slowly. Do it to fast (like a weekend binge) and your system goes haywire.3 -
Hi.
Please see a doctor today to make sure nothing exciting like refeeding syndrome or heart failure is going on.
This is enough of a concern to warrant emergency review. You need to be medically assessed today.

Why? You can drink a gallon of water, which has zero calories, and gain over eight pounds. When you are eating less than you should, as you appear to be doing, you have plenty of room in your gut to store food while it digests, so eating more food than normal isn't likely to trigger body to release the food that was already there. You are simply filling up your gut to the level you should have been filling it in the first place.5 -
For comparison, that would be a normal BMI for an 8 - 10 year old. It's definitely abnormal. Likely unhealthy. In my experience when an MD says anything similar to, "you might want to" or "well except for" it's a euphemism for "you're not doing yourself any favors, but since I can't force you nor is it anything I can treat, I leave you to your own choices."1

I'm not anorexic but I see how my body could be holding on to every calorie if it was feeling like it needed more. Yeah I feel pretty terrible. I'm so bloated that my skin hurts and my joints ache. I have a massive food baby so I'm sure internally my body hates me right now
You're 20lbs underweight and you're restricting calories at an unsafe level. I've been anorexic, so was my sister. I was only 5lbs underweight when my body said enough was enough and I was hospitalized for an emergency gallbladder removal caused my weight loss. I also didn't think I was anorexic. Call it what you want, but at the end of the day a horse is still a horse.8 -

Hi.

So... some of the real potential issues you might face have now been brought up.
At your extremely low weight there exist real potential health concerns BOTH in case you decide to continue to avoid eating at the level you should be eating at (i.e. if you continue to try and "maintain" at 1000 Cal a day) AND in the case you decide to eat like you should in an attempt to re-establish a normal weight.
In BOTH cases you have the potential to run into honest to goodness real life threatening (like bye bye, you just went from 22 to DEAD) problems. Heart or other organ failure at your current weight. Re-feed syndrome and other issues during an attempt to regain.
Getting checked out after a rapid weight change, and having a professional assist you, having your doctor assist you in finding someone who can monitor and advise you both fall under the category of "REALLY GOOD IDEAS".
Things CAN change for the better!5 -

It is a combination of water weight and excess waste. I would be surprised if you really put on more than a pound or two unless it was a truly epic binge.
Well for example yesterday I had-
Breakfast- 2 bowls oatmeal with raisins and granola mixed in, 1 bowl mixed fruit, 5 egg omelet with peppers
Snack- Clif bar
Lunch- Buffet with 2 salad bar plates, 2 rolls with butter, side of cole slaw, side of pasta salad, 1 bowl mixed fruit
Snack- 1 Quest bar, bowl of pretzel sticks
Dinner- Buffet with 2 giant plates of spaghetti with cheese sauce, 1 plate of linguini with marinara meat sauce, 2 breadsticks, 6 cookies, 1 brownie
Snack- Apple with peanut butter packet and bowl of pretzel sticks
I'm so bloated my joints hurt and I can't bend over. I can't believe I ate so much
Belarosa,
You say you are not trying to lose weight, but you are very underweight and obsessed that the scale shows weight gain. Yet, what you describe you ate above seems like an awful lot of food too. However, if you are only 90 some odd pounds at 5 ft 3, you surely under-eat most of the time.
Please, please go to your doctor and ask for a referral to someone who specializes in eating disorders. Your obsession with weight gain when you are underweight is a sure sign that you are on the path to an eating disorder, if you don't already have one.2 -

Ok so I looked up refeeding syndrome and now I'm worried I've done damage. That's freaking scary
I would be scared too. Time to go see your doctor, please.1
