NSV-I can now run 5K and I bowled my first strike this weekend.

The blizzard is coming. The gym has already announced it'll be closed. I took a moment today to put a new comfy seat on my bike, which is already installed on the indoor trainer. I also picked up groceries for enough (calorie appropriate) meals and snacks to last a few days. Also, the kids will be home from school -- so, dark chocolate.

I'm so glad the East Coast is borrowing our snow this week. You don't have to return it for the rest of the year, it's fine. Nice job on preparation. It's one thing to remember to buy TP, it's a whole other level to keep diet and exercise on track.

I have used MFP in the past, but always gave up and was lazy. I've been committed since Jan 2nd and been doing cardio each day. When I first started I could only really do one mile at 6mph and almost died. Today I ran 6 miles miles under one hour! I'm stoked for what comes next!

Call my docs office today to get my scripts reissued. Was told I would have to visit because it had been more than six months. Consultation resulted in a halving of my BP meds.

Will also omit my heartburn meds for a few days to see if my somewhat changed diet rendered them unnecessary.

I'm a server and we have to wear a tie. I chose a bow tie because I'm too lazy to tie a real tie. Anyways, today I had to tighten it by 2 notches because it was hanging low. Yea, that's 1/2".

I had all kinds of opportunities to excuse my self from my c25k exercise today.

1. Daylight savings time starting or ending (I can never remember which)
2. Having to go into work early so I could be home early for an appliance delivery
3. Shoulder inexplicably hurting a lot
4. Aforementioned appliance delivery after work

But the appliance deliverymen came early and everything was setup. As of 6:00 PM it was 80 degrees and sunny so I headed out to the track. I killed it on w5d1 of C25k and I get the feeling that w5d2 should be pretty easy as well.

I did learn that running into the sun sucks, but running with the sun at your back is great. And I am finally warm again.

I actually started this thread several years ago...so glad it's still going! Unfortunately, life's stressful situations got in the way and I completely fell off the bandwagon and I've gained back most, if not all, of my weight back. I'm a little better off than first time around in that I do occasionally work out and I don't eat much refined food...which probably means it will be that much harder to take off this time as my change won't be quite as big but I'm ready to have another go at it.

It's going to take a long time to read through all these but I'm so proud of everyone that has done such awesome things! Keep it going!

@tjsoccermom Thank you so much for creating this thread in the first place (no matter how many years ago it was!). It's so amazing reading the small and big ways others are succeeding (and slowly being able to add my own successes to the list).

Thank you so much for your kind words! That made me feel really good and is appreciated more than you could know. Also, it's motivating! So, keep your eye on here, I'll post more. Don't have as much time as I did before, work and college now, but I'm working on getting back on track. Food prepped a bunch of veggies tonight!

We haven't had much this year, so I'm actually looking forward to it. Especially since I'm all prepared.

I was thrilled to post here last week that I completed a 10 minute run when 5 weeks or so ago I couldn't run AT ALL (seriously w1d1 or C25K was BAD). Today I didnt' have time for C25K so I just jumped on the treadmill... 5 min walk warm up and stretching, then I was trying for another 10 minute run... 10 minutes hit and I decided to go for 12.. then 13... then 15... at 17 minutes I had to stop so i could cool down but it is great progress! I can't wait to hit 20 and then 30!

I've been following the C25K program for the last couple of months now. As I've been going through the program I've been hesitant to increase the speed on the treadmill, thinking that if I increase the speed then I won't be able to make it through the increase in running time from day to day without having to take a break and walk. So I've stuck it out at 5 mph and wasn't too worried that if by the end of 8 weeks it takes me 36 minutes to run 5K instead of 30 minutes like the program plans for - either way its still much better than where I started out!!

Well last night I said what the hell and increased my speed from 5 mph up to 5.5 mph even with the extra 3 minutes of running scheduled for W8 D1 (28 mins up from 25 mins). And.... I made it through and I didn't die! In fact, I think I can go faster

So here's to aiming for 30 minutes of running at 6 mph (a full 5K run) by the end of this week!!

Nervous about this because I've never posted a full length photo anywhere online, but I'm doing it today because apparently I have legs now! I'm not sure where they came from, but I'm astonished that they don't look like tree trunks any more.

(Apologies for the poor quality of the photos. The tunic is one I bought for a "60s party" a couple of years ago (it's covered in peace symbols and general flower-power-type stuff), and it barely covered my butt. Now it's a mini dress and needs a belt because it's so baggy!)

Maybe more of a light bulb moment.... I've been feeling while on my daily walks that I should run ( In my teens - 20's I use to run all the time) I've tried a few times but didn't get very far, my issue is I'm 'top heavy'. This past summer I purchased a few new bra, took me a bit but the other day I clipped the straps together and they hold the bra together and the straps don't fall down. Well while on the treadmill I decided to run and I first ran a full minute with ease!! Ease!! I then ran again.... and again... It felt so rewarding and was so simple!! I can't wait to go outside today and do an actual run. I'll still have to go slow but sometimes slow and steady wins the race, right?

It's so small but feels like such a victory to me, My desire to run has been like a little voice saying 'you can do it' "Go Go Go!"

Bought three pairs of capris (different brands) in a regular size 14 for the first time in 25 years. Have been in 16W for a LONG time. Yahoo!

Woke up late, couldn't find my other tennis shoe.
My sweetheart daughter trying to help grabs a pair of clogs I haven't been able to wear in YEARS.
"Oh no, I can't wear those my feet are too TOO fat."
"They look like they would fit.Try them."

Stunned frozen "They FIT!!!"
"Yeah, Mom."

As my daughter was getting out of the car she said
"Way to go on the shoes...bye Mom!" And flashes a big ol' thumbs up at me.
I found my tennis shoe in the book case's top shelf. My hubby had put it there last night.
Never been so thankful for my husband putting it there away from our teething puppy.

Yay!! I don't think most people understand how limiting it can be to have large breasts. I regret all those years of inactivity and/or embarrassment, all because I didn't know there were sports bras out there that actually work!

My poor bicycle - I have worn the rear tyre out. I told my husband that I was going to buy a better wearing set of tyres. He looked at me incredulously, I'm like "What's the problem with that? I need tyres that are going to last a bit longer than five months". DH then says, "You do realise, don't you, that you've cycled over 2,500 miles since I fitted that tyre? Do you not think that is hard-wearing enough?"

He may have a point. I didn't even think about how many miles I've done. I just get on the bike and pedal.

Yesturday when grocery shopping I walked past the entire chip aisle without putting any in my cart. (Yes i know chips are ok in moderation but calories dense and i know at tom i can and will eat entire bag if in house) instead i bough the kale salad bags.
