Not a big ice cream eater. We always had to churn our own and with 8 kids and two adults, never had enough to form a habit. Oddly enough, we only had potato chips twice a year at the 4th of July and Memorial Day and I immediately formed a lifetime love affair.4

Ben & Jerry cookies and cream cheesecake core for me please! Best ice cream ever.2 -

Happy birthday!! I hope you're celebrating with something yummy3 -
Having my yearly one or two margaritas at the local watering hole. And spending tomorrow night with friends at Seven Feathers Casino. We have side by side rooms. The men are going to gamble, and we are going to spend their money, swim in the pool and play around in the exercise room. Also having the yummy buffet.6

Come one, come all to he new group posted above. This board moves so fast that I have an awful time finding this one sometimes.3

I ran 11 miles today. I had moderate breakfast and lunch, and even with dinner already planned, I have an extra 1,000 calories to deal with. This is hard, tbh. My hunger gets suppressed on the immediate day when I exercise; looks like tomorrow's
plan will include a fair amount of dirt.3 -
So many great things about this post. I just focus on a daily deficit...I had a cheeseburger for dinner and got out and exercised an additional 30 minutes to get my green daily deficit. No judgment here!4

I eat normal food every day in real life. Sometimes that means a serving of white rice, whole eggs, canned veggies and gasp hot dogs. The world hasn't come to an end. I'm still losing fat, feeling healthy, and looking great. IIFYM and all.
I try to pick healthier options but I'm not going to prioritize the $200 organic grass fed and cuddled chicken when I can buy affordable grocery or butcher shop meat for a fraction of the price. I'm not a millionaire and I make do - successfully - with what I can. If that means I die five minutes sooner than the vegan earth person two threads down, I accept my fate with grace.9 -

How have i missed this group until now?! I can live without pizza2

Shhh, don't tell anyone, but if something is truly "organic, clean, natural" it was raised without any pesticides, or unnatural foods.
Our orchard was organic and natural. We ate around the worms in the apples.
Our beef was grass fed, but not truly natural because we fed them oats before we butchered them because otherwise they were too tough to chew.
Our chickens were not free range. The critters would have come down from the hills and killed them all if they were running free. They also did not eat natural foods. We bought their food in sacks from the local farm supply.
Our milk was not homogenized nor pasteurized, nor did we drink full fat. We skimmed that to make butter etc.
And worst of all, we actually ate a lot of processed foods with preservatives. Salt and sugar being our preservatives of choice and the big pressure cooker our processor of choice.
If any one would like a natural organic chicken and dumplings recipe, I'd be only too glad to share a true old fashioned one I used many times over the years. Of course it starts with buying x number of chicks and raising them behind the wood stove in the kitchen to keep them from freezing. And many who laud organic and natural might cringe when they find out that you have to actually kill the chicken, then scald it in boiling water then pluck the feathers and then gut it before you can even think of cutting it into pieces to boil.
I personally fell in love with "factory farming" when I finally went to a grocery store when I was in high school and found out that others were actually willing to do all the work and make it available at a reasonable cost.
To each his own, but I personally adore reliable electricity, flush toilets (outhouses were no fun in the middle of the night when it was pouring down rain), eggs that I don't have to gather, etc.14 -
This week I've had a doughnut, pizza, ice cream... etc. But I've also exercised loads and not gone wild on calories. I'd go mad if I had to cut everything out!
Add me.2 -
So, I have a craving for toast and peanut butter. Something I haven't had in a while. Grocery shopping so I start looking at bread and decide to buy a loaf. Pick up the cheapest one, and look at the calories. About 75 per slice. I check out another one that is about 50 per slice, but a bit pricier. So I take the lower cal count one.
Guess I should have checked the label a bit closer. The only reason for the lower calorie count is they slice these things paper thing. On a gram per gram basis, it's no different, just that the slices are 2/3rds the thickness.
Enjoyed my snack and I will put money on me throwing more than 1/2 the loaf away as I'm sure I won't get through it. But it makes up the the wings I had Friday (I guess).

Getting through the Purim gifts. Most of the stuff we got that I really wanted/worried I'd mindlessly graze on is now gone. Either portioned out in moderation or given to hubby for lunch (or taken by hubby, because I specifically told him, 'If there's something I want, I'll call dibs. Otherwise, go ahead and remove temptation!'). What we're down to now are:
- A couple of mini-chocolate bars I may or may not have
- A couple of large chocolate bars that I won't eat unless/until they're opened
- A bunch of Larabars and fruit-and-nut bars that are marketed as healthy choices and probably fall under that deluded thinking of "If it's good for me, it can't possibly make me gain weight!"
- Some treats that just plain don't tempt me. Fruit taffy is not even close to being one of my trigger foods.
- Stuff that is nice enough to regift, like a 7"-round box of wrapped chocolates
- Non-snack items that we'll be using over time, like teas, condiments (some friends of ours have a home business with jarred olive concoctions), jams, etc.
And you know something? This past week, I have enjoyed salt-water taffy, meringue cookies, chocolate, hamentashen, fruit chips... and I still stayed on-track and lost 3 lbs! I LOVE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!6 -
Cadbury mini-eggs... I may have four of the really big bags currently in my house. I love those freaking things! They are like 220 calories for TWELVE! Portioned out, those bags are going to last me until next Easter! LOL6

i put myself up to maintenance calories for a week while recovering from surgery. my mom brought me a half dozen bagels, matzoh ball soup and the best tuna salad ever. i had no trouble hitting or exceeding maintenance goals. back to cutting today. but that still includes an easy mac with tuna for lunch cause i haven't done any shopping or batch cooking.4

Oh heeeyyyy guys! I'm back lol. I have been literally dying from allergies the last couple weeks and haven't cared about anything aside from my next dose of painkillers. I was honest with myself on the scale today; in the last couple months I've been really bad and gained a few pounds But this is a journey with no finish line. I'm starting fresh and losing this weight no matter how long it takes! I'm happy I have this group for motivation6

No joke - Scotch and doritos, it's fantastic together!2 -
i had two margaritas yesterday too! sunday is totally a special occasion. also i was at the track and i needed consolation after i put $5 on a horse with my initials and not only did he come in dead last, but he cruised through the finish line without a jockey and then proceeded to trot himself back to the winners circle as if he belonged there. on second thought, i should really focus on being more like that horse.8

YAY a group I can relate to!2

Not a fan of Doritos. Think it'd be okay if I replaced the Doritos with Scotch?5
