@NikolaosKey Sorry to hear about your leg pain. I hope you'll be better soon.
@7lenny7 That's a really impressive number of miles you ran on the weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your calf is just sore from that and the thousands of steps you are climbing! Hopefully with a bit of rest and stretching, it will recover quickly.
@ashcky Awesome that you already met your goal! I'm sure you'll make it to 50 miles as well.
@autumnblade75 Great race! Congratulations on the new PR, that's quite a lot of time you've gotten faster. Too bad that the glass came without beer... I think you buy yourself a pair of Merrell Bare Access to celebrate your awesome race

I did a quick scan through of what I missed. A lot of great stuff by you guys that I couldn't read in detail due to time.
I saw a lot of pictures and people in races over the weekend. Awesome job guys.
I saw a question about percentage of long run vs weekly mileage...
25% is conservative while 35% would be aggressive.
Welcome to some new people joining us.
@Elise4270 I have to write your son. Love the picture of you 2 together.
About the Hillbilly Half. I know someone in my running group that ran that twice now. It's a little over an hour north of me. Franklin, TN is just south of Nashville.4 -

Group workout tonight was hill repeats. 15 minutes of running up the hill - alternately 1/2 way up and return easy and then full way up and return easy. My Garmin is screwing up and didn't catch on to GPS plus a few times seemed to glitch so I didn't get full credit. Plus it lost my steps for the day. Grrrr. Hopefully it is back on track now after some restarting (it just now yelled at me to move so it seems to be chugging along).3 -

I joke that it was the most expensive pint glass I'll ever buy. But it came with 2 hours of entertainment, and a shirt. The hubby and I are getting a little tense about some perceived income inequality issues, so right now wouldn't be the best time to drop cash on another pair of shoes. Maybe after we get back from the Alaska vacation - planned entirely around a marathon I wanted to run...
If I don't use all my "spending money" I can justify throwing anything that's left at more shoes.1 -
Hey there. Easy 45 minute run with an 8 minute cool down tonight. Better than I expected. During the first half mile I didn't think I would make it to 2 miles. Calves finally shook loose after 5-8 minutes - but they still hurt. My knee (l) is also still painful on the medial collateral area, but it's better than it was. Oh - and this route was flat, praise the Lord. The reason I say that is Saturday's race was the hardest I've ever done. Let's see if I can figure out how to post the elevation data.... It was 1.1 out and back - 4 times. I have 35.83 miles in for the month and trying for 90. I took off last week to try and recover. I probably won't make 90, but will probably have my highest monthly total for the year.

@dpwellman It's unfortunate that they grabbed that one runner and dragged him down. Those two old Boys could really Pluck the strings. Makes you wonder how much White Lighting they were testing
@_nikkiwolf_ I also support your Shoe Buying-Vacation plan. If you hide store the new shoes behind the Cleaning supplies no one will ever find them
So many posts - too many to truly comment on. Great Races & Runs - Amazing Rock solid paces for so many. A Beer Mug Bling with No Beer - That's just not right.
My pace is all over the place right now as some of the South and West facing Hills have lost enough snow/ice that we can now get out and play a little bit on selected trails. Still some dangerous Ice patch's and compacted drifted snow = Post Holes if you try to run/walk through it.
14 km tonight after work. Pretty much a repeat of Friday Nights run up Judah Hill - appropriately named - with the exception that I did a better job of Pace control meaning I didn't Bonk on the climb and was able to do the full 230m ( 755 ft ) - 3.4 km hill without a walk break. Pace varied from 6:04/km on the flats to 9:18/km on the steepest part of the Hill. Today at the top instead of doing a walk break in the Viewpoint Parking Lot I extended out another 400m to get to 7 km. Then turned and trundled home. The hill has dried up quite a bit in 3 days, places that were slippery/slimey on Monday were rock solid today. So I didn't suffer from any Toe Slips on the climb or Super Slider Skids on the downhill.
My pace on the return is always a lot slower; Outbound Avg 6:15/km to the base of the hill, 8:20/km climbing, 6:51/km on top (rolling and modest 5m climb), Descending - cautious since I have injured myself here previously by over striding as my speed picked up so I maintained the same as on top a modest 6:51/km, then with tired legs 6:45/km for the last 3 km.
Overall avg 7:07/km. Previous run on this route was 7:23/km for a 0.5km shorter distance. It started out a little rough as I was suffering from a 3:00pm meeting with the required coffee that was not sitting well for the first 2 km. Otherwise a good day. Then a few blocks of Walking Home to cool down and stretch. A few convenient Street Lights, ATV barriers and Curbs make great post run Stretch aids. Will probably be Rungry tomorrow.

@_nikkiwolf_ Thank you for your wishes. It is common situation the last 3 months. I feel like I am always on rehab, interrupted by 1-2 painless runs per month0

Been out of it for about a week and a half, feeling run down and like I had something coming. Really achey. So have walked but not run. Have got out the last two mornings though and am actually feeling really good! Long may it last! Got to catch up on some mileage!!

By the way does anyone run who has Raynaud's?
I sometimes feel the circulation go in my right foot while I'm running. I worry about damaging something, but I want to keep going! I know my shoes aren't too tight and was told some years ago by the doctor that I had Raynaud's. I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions or experience please?
Thanks!0 -

Good hard speed session this morning. As much as I hate transitioning to day light savings time, it is SO nice to have the light in the afternoon. Played soccer and threw the football around with my son for an hour after dinner last night--what a hoot! Great running everyone!8 -

Finally getting my HR data dialed in to keep my efforts honest during runs, and it is making all the difference in the world. I think I'm set to do my first "real" long run at proper effort on Saturday, possibly 6 or 7 miles but it should reach/surpass the 90 minute mark. I'm so excited I could pee my pants. Actually, it would be nice to not pee my pants during the long run. I was speaking metaphorically about...never mind.
3/4 - 3 miles
3/5 - 1.5 miles
3/6 - 1.5 miles
3/7 - 1.5 miles
3/8 - 1.5 miles

3/13 - 1.5 hilly miles
3/14 - 3 miles
3/15 - 3 miles
3/16 - 2 miles
3/17 - rest
3/18 - 3 miles
3/19 - 3 miles
3/20 - 3 miles
3/21 - 3miles
36.5 of 38 miles total

Warming up well before you go outside could help. There's creams with capsicum that can increase blood flow. Maybe compression socks?
But if it's just one foot (not the other, not the hands) I would also make sure that the toe box is wide enough, and try different lacing techniques.1 -

My back still hurts, though not excruciatingly. It's more of just a mild discomfort. I was able to run just fine last night and I can move around okay today, just a little discomfort when I bend over.
Also, my anxiety has been through the roof the last few days. I think it may have to do with the increased dosage of my medication, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm just really shaky and jittery, and find myself worrying about every little thing. I did feel better when I was running last night, so at least I got a little respite. I'm going to see my therapist tonight, so that's a good thing.3 -
After a few snowstorms and dancing weekends, I am quite behind on my training. Only up to 27 miles this month so far. I missed a few strength training sessions too (gym was closed due to weather a few days last week).

Non-running check-in. Sick sick sick and behind in my running and not happy about it. Hoping to be back at it in the next few days. Lot of great runs and races over the past few days! Congrats to all!0
-
see you in a couple of month rest day. really bored and lacking energy yesterday, and of course my muscle did not change at all even with 48hours rest. just have to suck it up and pray for the marathon, in the worst case i'll need ti stop a few times and relax that *kitten*.
9 miles this morning, grey day so not the best but i felt fresher and with all the carbs i ate yesterday i'll be ok for 2 weeks now.
tomorrow other 9 miles, then last pt appointment. i played a bit with a go pro today, but not really satisfy, need to try it on my bike
my shoes are the best thing in the world, love them.7
