Well, I've run marathons, and backpacked some intense stuff, but my 22 mile "accidental" day-hike in the mountains (when I finally hiked out of the wilderness some time after dark - very slowly and carefully there at the end since I didn't want to die) felt like a much greater achievement. And I might have been more sore, too, because although it wasn't as long as a marathon, it was way, way tougher terrain and I was out there much longer. It's a long, ridiculous story...8

1. qualifying for boston on my second marathon back in 1996 and going back for my fourth in 2018
2. running 100 miles
3. running 52 marathons in 52 weeks when I turned 52
4. doing an Ironman at the age of 40 and now at the age of 57 going to do my fourth
one thing I would love to do is a pull-up....I keep working on it at the gym
That's beast mode!0 -
swam the english channel when I was 20... the only reason I ever got into college XD

Okay, this isn't much compared to some (which are amazing, well done people) but it's a biggie for me - I have today completed Week 1 of C25K.
This is huge for me because I don't run (well, I sort of do now), I've never run, I used to avoid running at school.
But even better, my 13 yo son is running with me
We can't wait to start Week 2!13 -

This is amazing- keep with it! I had to do several weeks of just walking because I couldn't even walk for long without gasping for breath. I have finished 3 10ks now!
Back in the day, I also did a 10k open water swim (in high school). Probably my "biggest" fitness achievement but it was a long time ago.5 -
Yesterday I completed the toughest hilly half marathon I've ever done. Loved it!6

This is huge! Awesome! C25K was the only thing that worked for me to get running.
My accomplishment was climbing the Manitou Incline (in Colorado). Roughly 2700 steps, rising in elevation by 2,000 feet. Don't ask me how long it took or how stiff/sore/cramped I felt after it! I did finish. Now that I know what it is like, I hope to try again and actually not feel terrible for the next 2 weeks.5 -

I started running at 50. Ran a 27:22 5K on Saturday.
In Feb I ran/walked my first 5K in 35:30. My second 5K was April 2 and I finished in 29:36. My weight has dropped from 225 to 188. Goal is to get to 24:00 for 5K and 165 weight.
Just wanted to add congratulations to everyone else. Very inspiring thread.11 -

Best lift, best run, hike, climb, ride, going from not being able to walk upstairs but can now run them.
Post them all, and if you have pics please post them
Cascade River Road bike ride. This was 47 miles, most of them dirt; 4,419 feet of elevation gain; the first recorded ascent by bike.

Awesome!
Got a PB in the 5k I ran yesterday. It was pouring with rain for the entire time, I was cold and wet and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I'm running better and faster now than when I first started entering races back in 2008.7 -
Finishing a marathon after chemotherapy. My oncologist said I could not run again after the chemo. It took a year and a half to train for it, but was worth it at the finish line!37

As a chemo veteran myself, I understand the kind of determination that will have taken. Much respect to you for finding that in yourself.

This is beyond - beyond - awesome. I cannot imagine starting to train for a marathon, let alone running one.
You are a legend6 -
Bamburgh 10k today and I got a PB. 57.17 on my little legs
I'm over the moon!5 -
Beyond losing 130+ lbs, beyond being leaner than ever, fitting into smaller clothes than ever, and having more cardiovascular endurance than ever, I'm proud of how far I have come in Martial Arts.
I can kick 6.5' high, drop axe kicks on people, dodge roundhouses, throw a punch, take a punch, spin like a washing machine, and have some rudimentary nunchucka skills. After about 2.5 years of training I am roughly half way towards my black belt. I've competed in sparring tournaments all around the north east US, and even though I don't usually win, I have refound my competitive spark.
Sometimes fitness is more than just a raw number, but the journey.
