Fit in your 40's (with Pics)

For most of us, things get harder in your 40's. It's easy to give up because lots of people around you tell you it's impossible to achieve a slim, fit body once you hit middle age. Some people say even if it's possible it's not worth it because you're still not going to look good in your 40's. Prove them wrong! Share your success stories with pictures of your beautiful self in your 40's! I really need the motivation!

Wow very inspiring
Age is not a factor. You look better than most twenty year old.18 -
I am currently 45. Up until the time I turned 40 had very little interest in fitness and exercise and it showed as I was 72kg, very unfit and very unhappy with the way I looked. I discovered MFP and weightlifting a couple of years ago and completely changed the way my body looks and the way I feel and my attitude towards exercise.
I usually weigh between 60-62kg but I tend not to get on the scale that often as I feel good and my clothes fit so scale numbers are slightly arbitary .
At the moment I am learning aerial arts like aerial hammock and aerial hoop and I am always the oldest person in the room and don't care as you are never too old to learn new things (plus I am usually the strongest and most motivated person in the room )
So in a nutshell you can definitely get fit and look good in your forties.

That is a really unfortunate way to think. I would never quit striving to do better just because of my age. I have accomplished a lot since turning 40. I have been running since I was in my 20s, but all of my personal records have been set in my 40s, and I hope to keep getting faster. This year, at 45 years old, I finally completed a long time goal of mine of running the Boston Marathon. And I qualified with a 35 year old's time. It's never too late reach your goals. Age is just a state of mind!

10 years since I began eating healthily & living an active lifestyle. I've had ups & downs as everyone does but I'm so much fitter now at 40 than I ever was in the years before I had my daughter35

I've been at this for almost 4 years. Started a few months before I turned 40 and this id the fittest I have been since I was 19.

Love this thread!
I just turned 41 and my husband is about to turn 49. We are both back to college weight and both recently got back into running (me with MS and him with heart disease and having dealt with years of back problems) and have run two 5K's together this spring. He's in amazing shape and now that our races are past, I'm starting a recomp and hoping to get a whole lot stronger as well as faster! (I might post pics once I've made some recomp progress. )32 -

I'm ashamed of what I did to my body and self esteem but I have to own it don't I? I'm 43 and got into the worst shape ever when I turned 40. I really started to feel like the best years had passed me by. Thankfully I found an awesome trainer and have turned things around. I've lost 15 kg and am half way to where I want to be - then I can seriously start building some muscle. I continue to be amazed by what the body and mind can achieve.

I just turned 48 in July of this year, currently weigh around 187lbs. I started MFP Feb. 14th 2015 at 305+ lbs. I have not done a comparison pic yet this year (I'm not much of a selfie person), but left was right before I started MFP in January of 2015, and right was going into late fall 2016 after I had reached my goal weight for a few months. I was at somewhere around 11-12% body fat then around 180ish pounds. I did a slight bulk this last winter (about 10-12 lbs worth) and am now cutting a bit here and there trying to get back down to 10-11% body fat, currently at 13%-ish around 187 lbs. I'll probably do another comparison pic late fall again.
