I posted in this thread 3 years ago and am happy to report that I’m still in maintenance, which makes it 7+ years since I lost 43 lbs and went from obese and sedentary to fit and active. Loving my 40’s!!!
Before I carried a lot of weight around my middle, after losing I got my waist back...
My true passion is trail running...
Celebrating my 46th birthday at the beach...

I was on dialysis for three years and gained 75 lbs. After my kidney/pancreas transplant in 2009, I lost 93 pounds by lifting weights and walking. I was 47 when I started. It isn't impossible but you have to be intelligent about it. Start small and build up to avoid injuries.22

I started in the gym at 52. Did my first triathlon at 54. Loved how toned I looked. Got off track so starting again at 56 with the hope of getting fit enough to do a triathlon but not doing the day. I love the training. But unless I can take a kids doughnut and floaties I am not doing that swim again lol. Was convinced I was going to drown and could taste sea water for days after. Wasn't a pleasant experience. Lol7

Daaaaaammmmn, thanks everyone for sharing! I've got just a little over two years to go before the midlife crisis level, but you guys (and gals), give me so much hope that it can be done. Thank you!0

Thanks I run without shoes whenever I can, I prefer it that way! But when it isn’t ideal (for example due to temperatures, terrain or debris) then I wear very thin flexible 4mm diy sandals that are tied to my foot with a single lace, it’s the next best thing to going barefoot. I ran a fantastic 10K just this morning to get out before the ground gets too hot since it’s now in the 90’s where I live8 -

The first is me at 21, when I thought my body was in it's prime and I wanted to get back to it (within reason) one day.
The 2nd is me now, 23 years later.

I went kinda soft during the pandemic after a year without strength training at the gym. Lost some definition. But I've managed to piece together some equipment at home, so I'm starting to get back at it. Patience...
