June 2017 Running Challenge

@lporter229 No, the plan isn't published. It's something I put together after consulting a physician in Apr. due to a bad case of runner's knee. I just took where I was at and added what we thought was a safe weekly mileage increase, and then split up the total mileage over the number of days I could run per week. So far, the plan has been working.2

I really should make an effort to get out and run in the AM least 1-2x a week. It's gonna be 60 in the morning... Why do I wait until it's 90-100 to try to torture a run out of myself?
Global Running Day seems like a good day to make a resolution. Anyone else wanna declare a change in the name of running?2 -
So after I got home, I kicked my shoes off and noticed something unusual...
Is that a screw?! I went and got a screwdriver, the only time I can ever recall having to use a screwdriver on shoes, and backed it out. I'm very glad this wasn't 1/4" or 1/2" longer! I looked inside and it did not go all the way through. Whew!
There is some new construction and some renovations on 2 of the roads I run down. Guess the guys got sloppy and dropped at least one screw on the sidewalk. I'll be on the lookout from now on!
Ai, I am a minimalistic/ barefoot runner... that would have hurt to me, thank God, you had regular shoes on!1 -
@Bakins929 - Impressive! You have very eloquently presented the argument that convinces me not to try to become a barefoot runner.
As a minimalistic/ barefoot runner you always scan the floor, but than again the way you run is so different from 'normal' and I am in less pain. My joints tend to become painful.1 -

3 miles on the treadmill. Tomorrow is a rest day, then an easy 3 on Friday. Saturday 13.1. The weather today is cool and cloudy, only in the 60ies. I wish today would've been my 13 miler! Instead it's supposed to be in the 80ies on Saturday. My plan is to be headed out the door by 6:30am in an attempt to run before the sun starts beating down. I'm also going to run from my house in one direction (northeast) and run until I reach 13.1. My husband agreed to pick me up when I'm done5 -
Hi, everyone. I'd like to join in. I'm a new runner and my goal for June is 50 miles. I'm at 8.46 as of yesterday.
Yesterday was W13 D2 of the 10k trainer (extended from ZenLabs C25k). 2 25-minute runs with a minute in between. My total was 4.45 miles at average pace of 11:17 (not counting the walking).
ETA: I'm still almost shocked when I'm able to do the next run of the program. I feel like there's no way I can do one more step each time but somehow the next time I do.18 -
June goal: 50 miles

Today wasn't a scheduled run day, but since it is Global Running Day I decided to go for a run on my lunch hour. It was really nice. It was kind of hot, but I live in Texas, it is almost always at least kind of hot. My pace was good and I really felt good running. I've had a bit of stress lately and the running really seems to help with it.

Turned out to be a tough 5 miles. Even though I took it easy, my legs were more tired than I thought. I wanted to take advantage of the great weather and committed myself to a loop that was more than I should have. I ended up walking as soon as I hit 5 because I was worn out. Fortunately I was within 1/2 mile of home at that point so it was a good cool down.

Plans for a bike/run brick workout with my team were thwarted by the weather, but I ended up doing both today (easy) separately this afternoon in the icky humid weather once the rain stopped. Legs still felt a bit sore & dead, but I figured some easy recovery pace mileage couldn't hurt too much.
