What terms/phrases wind you up about losing weight?

I really, really hate WOE.
I kind of like journey. I associate it not with some new-agey claptrap, but because the first time I ever heard the phrase, it was a happy association. I used to compete in obedience with my dogs, and my mentor used the phrase as a way to get me to savor the experience and relationship of working with my (much beloved and long since gone) beagle, rather than fretting about some technical detail I had messed up.
To me, it means to savor every day, rather than just focusing on the end result, while allowing the present time to suck. As such, it really does describe the process of losing weight. 'Enjoy the journey'.
There is a line in an Aerosmith song that says, "Life's a journey, not a destination."11 -
Juicing, smoothie cleanses.
IF/ OMAD people with superiority complexes. Some people like or do better with multiple meals, or need them for medical reasons. Sorry, personal stuff there.
"But I have kids and a family". Great! Better reasons.
"I'm not motivated/lack support". Fake it til you make it.
"Its too hard/ too much work/ too much change"
Everything you want in life takes a degree of work so why is this different?

I thought you were on a diet?
Why are you eating that?!
You can't have that, aren't you trying to lose weight?
We can go to a different restaurant that has salads, since you are on a diet.
The list goes ON and ON! I also agree with MANY others here as well.20 -
"How can I quickly (insert anything here)..."4

Magical health cures being ascribed to any particular diet. I don't care how you chose to eat, but don't try to sell me on the idea that eating keto is going to cure all that ails me and the rest of the world (just an example, no keto eaters were harmed in the making of this post).11

If u type lik dis on da forums... I want to strangle you and/or beat you to death.
@Morgaen73 Loose/lose! Ugh! I absolutely give a pass to ESL folks for that, but when your bio says you're from Indiana... All I can think is, "How do you not know this?!"32 -
The main thing that gets my hackles up is when someone tried to say their weightloss method is the only way, it's not, please don't tell me what to do I will most likely do the opposite.
The rest mentioned on this thread just make me sad as having realised it doesn't need to be complicated, foods do not need to be demonised and cleanses/ detoxes are too much like torture and pointless, I wish others would realise it too.
As for lose vs loose that does irritate and English is my second language.6 -
Sometimes I think about language. It changes so much over time! I'm pretty an average joe from 200 years ago would be horrified by "the state of grammar and spelling" of the most grammatically strict writings. It makes me chuckle to imagine "loose" becoming the norm someday in the future. That's why all the grammar and spelling debates are amusing to me, and that's also why when I re-read some of my posts and go "how the hell did that sentence make sense to me??" I'm not too concerned.6

Protein powder, detox, cleanse, flush, toxins, thigh gap, spot reduce, keto, paleo, Jillian Michaels.
And, kind of meanly, "loose weight." If it's loose, tie it down!7 -
Starvation mode and plateaus and any absolutes.

I just get super annoyed at the 537586037 posts that ask the following question: "can I eat *fill in the blank* and still lose weight?"9
-
"Muscle weighs more than fat"... Grrrr!
Getting "toned", not "bulky"... It has been 3 days and I'm not losing weight!
I have a thyroid problem / it is my thyroid's fault / it is my medication's fault (no doctor's diagnosis and/or no discipline with proper diet and exercise)...
I am overweight because of my genetics... I'm a special snowflake... You have it easy / You don't know how hard it is...
I/you need to be {dairy|meat|gluten|whatever} -free (again no medical diagnosis)
I need to lose 20 lbs in 2 weeks.. what do I do?
The usual suspects. Pretty much any BS assertions.6 -

I saw someone talking about plateaus the other day and I laughed because they had suggested to avoid them you should take a week or so at maintenance calories every now and then.
So to avoid plateau's you create a plateau... makes no sense.5 -
I admit I use the words journey and lifestyle all the time- I just don't know what else to call it sometimes but now I know how much it annoys a bunch of MFP people (but I still like lifestyle, sorry not sorry).
Not too much bothers me, it is more people's behavior. I think that people who get super personally offended when they participate in forums are frustrating. And the one that annoyed me recently was an accusation of people (all MFP regular contributors) "following" a poster across threads just to bother them. Apparently. Certainly not because people like to comment on lots of different threads and hold multiple conversations. Sigh.
ETA: sorry this is more MFP focused than the OP's question.8 -

I don't know, I think I have loose weight on my thighs now... They're strangely floppy and the fat is separating from the muscles.17 -

I get that people need to be real about their feelings and weight gain, but it seems really thoughtless to me.
I totally agree. It's like when "friends" moan about how overweight and disgusting they are because they ate a burger, then they look at you and say "oh, no offence" because ofc if they're disgusting, what does that make you?
There's nothing wrong with recognising that you are not healthy and choosing to do something about it, and I'll admit I sometimes look at people and am glad I never "let myself get that bad", but there's no excuse for stating that a particular weight, bmi or appearance is gross, disgusting, hideous etc.7 -
Oh, yeah. Just remembered.
(I"m thinking of these as word choices rather than larger arguments):
"Lifestyle." In any combination. "Low-carb lifestyle." "Keto lifestyle" "Paleo lifestyle."

(I mean, if you want larger arguments/statements that set my teeth on edge, there's:
"I've gained 50 pounds since graduating from college 10 years ago. I need to lose it all in 12 weeks!"
"I'm doing everything right! Why am I not losing any weight? I started two weeks ago and I have only lost five pounds! THIS ISN"T WORKING!")8
