Oh, and to make my contribution to the thread, I do believe that a hotdog is a sandwich. I use hotdog buns to make all sorts of more traditional sandwiches as well as putting hotdogs in them, so I consider them sandwich bread. :p

This thread is hilarious, I have nothing to add as I maintain a neutral standing, but thank you for my morning giggle.

    Please refer to the chart
    Maybe this will help

But that doesn't answer my question about a taco being a hotdog.

Last week, MMP ran out of hot dog buns, I guess, so they served hot dogs in a hoagie roll. It was actually quite off-putting and I meant to scurry straight over here to tell y'all about it, but then I forgot.

This might come as a shock, but the customer service is not fantastic. He didn't call it a taco. He didn't call it a sandwich. He didn't call it ANYTHING and when I was like, "what's with the bun?" he told me where to find the ketchup which was non-responsive and I gave up because I had somewhere very important to be. (Note, however, that he did NOT direct me to the hot sauce, jalapenos, or pico de gallo, so I'm taking that as an indication, from a professional, no less, that what I held was not a "taco").

But you can put ketchup on a taco. Isn't Salsa just another form of ketchup (or is that catsup)?

    it is a burger?

what about hotdogs that are placed inside a bun, like a hole is poked into the end?

I like the sound of radical sandwich anarchy.

A poptart is a sandwich. I can dig it.

Ok, so based on the arguments here...

If a hot dog is a sammich, a woman makes it for me

If a taco, we get a free one if someone steals 2nd base in the Series.

No... A sandwich is served between slices of bread, not in a bun.

Is a hamburger a sandwich then?

When I was a kid I swear to god we never had freaking hot dog buns. Cut up hot dogs on wheat bread. My mom is basically a MONSTER.

Congratulations if you are one of those fancy rich people whose parents could afford hot dog buns.

    But is it a sandwich?

    no, it's a hot dog

    analogy:

    is this a car ?

    half-ton-truck-1.jpg

    No.

It has tires and a steering wheel just like a car and drives on the same roads as a car, but it ain't a car....

But it's an automobile. A car is an automobile. So it is a car. You don't call them truck-cars where you live?

So you call pick-up trucks, cars?

    c'mon now, nobody does that.

No, but I hate hearing them called trucks.

Putting a weiner in a bun is not called a sandwich in Canada. :D

What is it called? A taco? I'm pretty sure it's a taco up there.

It's a Maple taco up in Snow Mexico

A maple taco sounds amazing. That's the only taco I will eat now.
