    Morning friends:

I did not stay the course, I let my emotions over my bosses email get to me..makes me mad because I gave her too much control in my life. I did go get my nails done and I did ride my bike this weekend, but didn't do great on food.

@shonat11Welcome! you know they say it's never too late until you take your last breath!! :) I am happy to see you today!

@JenniTheVeggie Welcome! I started struggling more with my weight after I broke my knee. However, now I struggle because I can't eat like I used to (almost 60) LOL You can do this. I always look at a lot of my things in life, saying I did it before I can do it again. So here is that small voice in your head...YOU CAN DO IT!! :)

@Lore11a Don't you just love grand kids. I love mine, but I don't get to see 4 of them very often. :( Thank goodness for text.

@trooworld I certainly hope you feel better. I agree, medical garbage go back to where you came from.

Today is a new day!! Live it with laughter, and know you can do whatever it is you need to do today!

    Good Morning Everyone
Had a really nice weekend. Lovely dinner at our DD's Friday night celebrating our granddaughter's 4th birthday and my father-in-law's 92nd. Was a great 88th birthday gift for him the day little Genevieve was born. It is especially nice to be able to celebrate with him this year as he is struggling with terminal cancer. So sad that he is burdened with this when otherwise he is a very healthy 92 yr old still driving and living on his own. Cruel world sometimes!
Saturday my dear dear friend of almost 50 years came for a "pajama party" while our husbands went to their 50th highschool reunion. We had a great time, shopping, chatting, drinking wine, casinoing (I know - not a real word but you get the picture) etc. Then I topped the weekend off with a great day around here with DH. Doesn't get much better than that.
Now its time to tighten the belt so to speak and get down to business, so that I can still have a good weigh-in Friday. Shouldn't be doable since I did stick to my calorie/carb budget with the exception of the wine and because of that, not enough water. Also, not enough exercise but I plan to make up for both these next four days.
Out to my garden this morning to plant two new shrubs.

cbabie and Lorella: ditto on the "love grandkids". My granddaughters are 4, 5 and 6 years old (sisters with a very busy Mom and Grandma when I have them - lol) who live 20 minutes away from us. We get to see them LOTS!!

    Have a good one.
    Cheers, Carol

@shonat11 Welcome to the group. I do better with planned snacks that fit into my cals and carbs. I too used to do WW then became prediabetic and have to watch my carbs so I just post here for now. I like a bigger breakfast so I get an afternoon snack and an evening one after dinner.

lore11a I saw you welcomed a new person. Did she delete her post? or am I just blind in my old age. I don't do as much weighing and measuring as I should. I know how much cereal to use because I use the same bowl and have measured once. I should measure my meat. I buy packaged chicken breast and usually do math. lol 16 oz divided by 4 is 4 oz. Although i do realize they don't all weigh exactly ghe same tjing. I figure it will all even ourt eventually. I do need to get more strict with that. I have a snack bowl that I thought was one cup. Turns out it was 1/2 c. so that was a good surprise.

trooworld Shrimp heads??? lol I like my food headless. I went to China and about starved How's your back.

@JenniTheVeggie Welcome to the group. I'm on a modified carb eating plan. I can't do low carb long term. Tell me NO and I say watch me. So... I eat what I want just smaller portions and not every day. My problem is consistency. I watch a youtube channel each week with some twins who are on WW. One has lost 100 lbs and the other one 80 something. She's got about 5 lbs to goal.

cbabie So you lost that battle. You'll win the next one. Do you have a strategy? Do you have things in your house ready to go when the urge to eat hits you. How about little containers from the Dollar store. Pack them with 7 cheddar cheese cubes and 12 grapes. Or 1 string cheese and apple slices. Cut up carrots and dip You get the idea. Think Snackables. Only make your own. Here's a good video. Mind over munch She's got a bunch.

Morning gals, running late I have a meeting with a client on a bid package this morning. I tracked yesterday and didn't do that bad. I did eat ice cream, but controlled how much I ate. I will try to catch up with personals later.

    have a great day

    Hi folks,
Trooworld I'm glad your back is better. Hope it stays that way .
    Theslightedgeforever thanks for the advice!
Today's been good and I stuck to my calorie limit, largely thanks to encouraging posts on MFP.

Morning gals: Where is everyone? I know where I was, in the bottom pit of depression. This has nothing to do with my weight, but it does have an effect on how and when I eat. I haven't been this low in a long time.

@shonat11 I am so glad you are finding support and staying to your goals. Yes we help, but you also know you are the one making the choices and you are doing a great job.

@trooworld I am so glad your back is better. I know when my knee acts up, I am not my usual self..(whatever that is) :)

Okay I am running late, I didn't get up until my DH alarm went off.

    Good Morning Everyone
Well we are back to rain here again. YUK!! I still need to do some gardening so I guess I will be doing it either in the rain or wait for a break and then get out there. The later would be my preference!! Feels like October here rather than June. Been nasty since November. Ok enough complaining - obviously that's not helping.

I have been pretty good on my carbs and cals and exercise actually but need to ramp it up a bit if I'm going to guarantee at least a stay-the-same for tomorrow's weigh in.

I am starting a new exercise class tomorrow morning. Its every Monday and Friday morning at 6 a.m. My sister and niece will be there and my great-nephew is the trainer so it will be fun. I am actually excited to go with my sister. She is 9 years my senior and this is the FIRST time we have ever done anything together that is not family-related. Love her dearly and we are very much alike but because of our age difference (I guess that's the reason) we have not really "hung out" over the years. I've always been the little sister.

cbabie: I too am sorry to hear of your struggle with depression. I do have an issue with it at times also but not what I would call serious. My daughter however does suffer with it and has been on meds since she was a teen. She's now a 40 year old mother of 3. It is a serious medical condition and so often not talked about. That is the REAL PROBLEM!!

trooworld Boy I can relate re: your boss. When I retired from my job at the high school (secretary) 9 years ago I had a boss just like that (maybe even worse if you can imagine). Actually she is the reason I retired a year earlier than I was going to. Just couldn't see myself working for her any longer. Yesterday I heard from my dear friend and ex-colleague that "the boss" has finally been given a choice - either quit/retire or be fired. Finally she has a "boss" with enough guts to get the job done!! Wonderful news for all who work for her. Just wish it had happened about 10 years ago. Here's hoping you'll get similar news soon!! In the meantime, try not to let her "get to you". It won't help the cause and it certainly won't help YOU!! Folks like that are not likely to change!!

Well I'd better get my house tidied up and head outside - rain or shine. Oh, please --- SHINE!!

    Cheers, Carol

Morning gals: yesterday was a bust, I didn't have time to eat and when I did I did! Meal prep, meal prep, meal prep.....

@shonat11 I hope you got some rest>>> One thing is I never give up, I have my days or moments or whatever, but I get up and fight the battle each day.

@trooworld I am certain you will get that pound off, you are getting your rhythm back!! Thank you I am better today, just anticipating my meeting with my lovely boss...I was so focused on doing everything right and exactly as my boss had said, so I wouldn't get another verbal whipping in my meeting or in email..I forgot a client meeting. THAT HAS NEVER happened to me before...so got work on that. :) ( I did remember in enough time to tell the client I would be 1/2 hour late and they were good with that.) (God's favor) :) I hope you get a surprise and your coworker is busy with someone else..LOL

@cmedwards52 We could use some of that rain too!! I am glad you are enjoying retirement. I want to be one of those and I believe I will be who enjoy it and never look back on the decision to retire.!!

Ok gals, have to be at work soon..

    Have a great day!!!

I feel like I've fallen down a big black hole. I think hormones. I've not even been tracking the last three days or so. But I started again. Actually I've heard eating your biggest meal at breakfast is a good thing

trooworld Glad to hear your back is getting better. Hopefully tbe bead librarian won't find out.

cbabie See how much progress you are making. Baby steps.I saw you were in a pit. I didn't see you in my black hole. Maybe too dark. Mine wasn't depression though just lack of focus.

shonat11 Good for you for sticking to your calorie level. I was doing well before my vacation but having problems getting back into it.

cmedwards I think I'd rather have your October weather. But I don't like rain so I'd be complaining about that too. lol What kind of exercise class are you and your sister doing? There is just a bit over 6 years between me and my sister. I've been hanging around the same weight as last week. I'll weigh in officially tomorrow and see. So maybe I know how to maintain if I could just get to goal weight.

gemwolf Nice profile pic Wow on the 30 mile bike ride. Good cause both of my parents were diabetic

trooworld How was yoga? As I age I need to do that more. Flexibility go hand in hand with cardio and strength training. Your dinner sounded good

theslightedgeforever: The class is a bootcamp of sorts focusing on strength and conditioning with some cardio. We did weights and rowing yesterday. Was a very good workout. Pretty sore today but its a "good" kind of sore. The next class is Monday. Planning to attend. I have a bit of a conflict however. I thought it was going to be a cardio class and was surprised its strength and conditioning. My conflict is my DD is a personal trainer and has a gym in her home. I know I could train there with her and for free and I am concerned that she may feel "hurt" that I'm going with my sister to this gym and paying for my time there. My great-nephew is the trainer and he is very good but not as good as Shauna (DD). I am really torn. I really want to spend the time with my sister but I don't want to hurt my DD. Not sure just what to do. And of course there is the other side - I don't want to hurt my sister either by not going with her because I could go to Shauna's. Any advice anyone??

@cmedwards52 I think you should be upfront with your daughter and tell her just what you said to us..you know she is a great trainer, but your sister wants to do this with you and you want to spend healthy time with her. There will come a time you can spend time with your daughter training. (or great-nephew) This is sister time, not anything else. There is no reason for hurt feelings, you raised your daughter and I am sure she has a good head on her shoulders. I do understand, I have 2 daughters that I for years have walked on this same road. It's not a road I want to stay on.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I do plan to talk to Shauna about it except that I know she will say she is ok with it even if she is not. She wouldn't want to "hurt" my feelings. Perhaps we are all too sensitive?

gemwolf110: Good idea except that would mean a full-out workout (that's what it would be with both) 6 days a week. I don't think I could manage that, nor would it be recommended by either trainer. I don't know a whole lot about training but I do know you need a "rest" day here and there. lol

Having the family over today for Father's Day dinner. I will need to put my extreme control hat on and stay away from some of the menu. Bbq steak and bratwurst; baked potatoes; roast mushrooms; cauliflower casserole; corn and spinach salad. Dilly bars for dessert. Never mind a beverage or two!!

    Enjoy your day ladies.

cmedwards I say go where you are going to get the best workout for YOU. For too long we put others feelings ahead of our own. I would explain it to her like you did us. Or going along with gemwolf's advice workout out one day a week with Shauna. Maybe some floor exercises or non traditional stuff using your own bodyweight. Those exercises are harder for me than traditional weight lifting.

trooworld Hmmmm that is weird yoga. But new things cause us to get out of our comfort zone which is good.

gemwolf I can tell your intent was to make everyone happy. That was my second thought for advice. That would be too much working out with other people. lol I do better on my own as I "think" alot during exercise.Yummmmm Dilly bars. I'm such a kid.

cbabie I read yours but didn't respond. I think I'm too much like my mother. I do what I want and figure they'll get over it. As we know, that is not necessarily true. They don't always get over it. But I'm a firm believer in doing what's good for me. If I don't take care of myself, who will?

Feeling a bit down today as this is the first Father's Day without Dad.

Headed out to do some exercise. I'm excited, my dh was asking about a wireless keyboard we have had in the closet for about 8 years. I could never figure out how to hook it up with his SONY tablet. It's been on my to do list since then. I forgot about it and he wanted it for his SMART TV. But we didn't find a bluetooth setting on there. So I said, I will try it on my laptop. My keyboard has been broken for about a year but I have a touchscreen so I've been typing on the screen. Not the best. Slow as heck. This works great and is so fast. Another good excuse as to why I don't declutter. lol I might need it one day.

trooworld Yikes. I need to go to the dentist. I think I cracked a filling. I keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow. So hopefully I'll get it done tomorrow. lol I'm afraid they will say the tooth is decayed and we need to pull it like we did the other one. Are you still eating mindfully. I've said no to Oreos today. Then a snickers bar. I think I'm craving chocolate. Must be PMSing......But I said no.

    Where is everyone else at?

I'm watching a documentary on Netflix entitled From Fat to Finishline. I was reading a blog runsforcookies.com
It's about her journey along with other people who lost 100+lbs. I'm hoping to learn something.

    Hello gals,
I have been fighting depression and not doing so well eating. I seem to be on edge, but I am also learning that I am hanging on to my grief, not just my dad , but other things in life I have lost in the last 4 years. So I am trying to move on from there. I take 2 steps forward and 1 or 3 steps backwards. :) I am preaching to someone about getting over things and moving on and realize I need to do the same. I feel horribly fat today, but hopefully when I get on my treadmill that "feeling" will go away.

I was trying to hide from the world yesterday, you know it comes and finds you.. :)

@trooworld Yes teeth are expensive. My grandson need almost 3K work on his mouth and he is only 16.
@theslightedgeforever glad to see you getting back to your routine.
@gemwolf110 Glad to see you back here and you are doing great, keep you great attitude!!

Okay I am going to go make lunches.

gemwolf I don't know about On Demand. I've watched half of it. It's 90 min long. I'm going to finish it when I'm done here. It was inspiring though so far.

cbabie Sorry to see you are down. I have spent so much money on my kids teeth. If I had to do it all over again I probably wouldn't. If they don't wear their retainer after braces, the teeth can shift back, which they did on two of my kids. Wasted time and money. One child was $10000 but he had to have 2 implants along with braces. His permanent incisors came in smaller than his baby teeth. There wasn't even enough tooth mass to put a fake tooth on it. I've lived 53 years with bad teeth. One of these days I might get them done, but then think I could do so much more with that money. I hope the treadmill made a difference.

trooworld Let's skip Friday. lol I think lots of sodium in the Chinese and Thai. So the scale may be higher than you think. I'm good with cutting Snickers into bite-size pieces and just eating one piece. I'm lucky in that I can control sweets. But I was already over on my calorie goal for the day which is why I just kept saying no. I'm trying to lose my pound this week. The other day I seem to have eaten the whole house out.

theslightedgeforever: And then SATURDAY will be the first day of a much better week for you!! Run with that!! :)

Summer has arrived (officially and finally) here in BC's beautiful Fraser Valley. 30 degrees (that's C of course) predicted for the next 10 - 14 days. HURRAY!! Out golfing yesterday. Great day!! Little gardening planned for today and time with my little girls this afternoon. We are also heading out to visit my DH's uncle. His 100th birthday today. He lives in a nursing home nearby and is in amazing health. He needs some help walking but otherwise in great shape with a memory in full working order. I'm wondering if this might be a result of never smoking and never taking a drink of alcohol of any kind. Just sayin......................

Have a good one everyone and don't beat yourselves up too much about that darn metal beast!!

    Cheers, Carol

trooworld Salads, tuna, fruit, etc. can work in a pinch. So try to have the ingredients on hand at all times. Also, maybe a frozen dinner in the freezer or double cook some healthy recipes and put them in the freezer just for these times that you haven't done your meal prep.

cmedwards Saturday is my weigh in day so it's usually the beginning of my week anyway. lol I guess 30C is good, right? I never did learn the conversions other than 0 celcius is 32F and 100 is 212F. Freezing and boiling point. Hm, I wonder if that's right after all these years. I did pay attention in Science class in my younger years. Happy birthday to dh's uncle. 100 is great. May he have many more years. We all need to work on keeping healthy so we have lots of years ahead.

Hello to the rest of you lurking. Did you track your meals? Move your body? Drink your water? Choose wisely?

So if I read things right this thread is kind of a WW thing? I've been on WW for about a year and have lost about 50lbs. I wish it were more, but life happens and I derailed over the winter. Leaving ww due to finances. I really wish I could stay, but it is what it is. I'm going to miss my friends on the WW app, but hope to make new friends here.

Today is the first time I've used MFP in a very, very long time and it's nothing like I remember. Still learning to navigate. Switching from points to calories may be a bit cumbersome too. REALLY liked the point system. I've also been following the ssprengel23 plan of eating my weeklies. I'm no really sure how to do something like that here, but we'll see how things go.

    Glad I found this thread!

cmedwards Enjoy the sunshine. Lots of Vitamin D. I'm a much happier person in the sun.

trooworld They don't say TGIF for nothing. I weigh in tomorrow and I'll see how I did. Now you can't change last week but you can make this week much better. What days are your meal prep? What day will you be going grocery shopping to make sure you have everything for meal prep? My plan this next week is to plan my day the night before and log it in and follow that. My usual plan is to log as I eat and then by dinner hope I have enough calories left over. Sometimes that works and sometimes that doesn't. lol

@jdc1965 Welcome to the group. We started this group when they changed the WW community and started that Connect thing. A bunch had been together a long time then as life got in the way one by one people dropped off. I think originally 4 came over here. I saw it was free and mentioned it to cbabie. I became prediabetic and doc said I needed to start counting carbs, so I quit counting points. I'm on a modified carb plan as low carb won't work for me long term and I want to lose it like I will maintain it. Slower but doable for me. I say follow whatever plan gets you to goal. Even if it's a combination of two plans. Your after pic looks great. Do you lift? I still follow alot of youtube channels that do WW. I get ideas about food and then just log them and count the cals.

  • jdc1965
    jdc1965 Posts: 8 Member
@theslightedgeforever I totally agree. Each must find their own path to goal and what works for one may not necessarily work for another. When I started WW, Connect was already in place so it's really all I know. I also follow a page on Facebook called No Finish Line Nation. It was started by 5 people from WW Connect. A lot of support and good advice there.

Thank you for the compliment about the picture. I still have about 60 or so pounds to go. I keep updating my goal weight because I do lift. Trying to build muscle and get rid of the fat. I know that I'll never be what the BMI chart says I should be (it should be called a BS chart. Told my Dr that and to not ever mention that thing to me again) and I am absolutely okay with that. I'm looking more for a size and to be healthy than a number on the scale.

So happy to have found this thread. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Okay I have been in hiding long enough! We all know I have been fighting life. :) I am so miserable and therefore grumpy. My closet looked like something out of a college dorm this past week. Trying to find something to wear to work. I had to go to the Dr again and have gained 2 lbs more. I am so messed up, if I can't do it perfect I don't want to do it. I am seeking on how to do this thing rational. Like I have 1000 as my calorie total and I only have 398 left for today. That means a light meal and nothing else and it's only 2:30. I am here to figure this out. My sister asked me what 1 thing am I going to do to move in the right direction. Ok it must be TRACK. I will have to keep getting those numbers down. So I am going to do this. I used to be the leader at so many things and now I have just existed. So it's time to rise again. Slow but stead as my sister would say.

@theslightedgeforever thanks for keep coming and encouraging. It's one of your strong points.
@jdc1965 Glad to have you aboard. Yes we all have to make our own way. I am so proud of your progress. You are right it's all about health and not thin, etc.
@trooworld Sorry about the gain, but yes I am sure some is water based on what you ate. You will turn it around, you are finding your strengths!!

Okay I am going to go do my normal Sat things. I didn't exercise today..I like to do mine in the mornings

jdc1965 My tentative goal is the high number for my weight range. I'm really short. lol But I'll know more when I get closer. Right now miles away. But my real goal in all this is not to get cancer nor diabetes. Like my parents. Although thinking about it I could add heart disease. My dad had a list a mile long. Oh and to be 100% mobile in my old age. I'm 53 right now.

cbabie Ok so why do you have 1000 as your calorie goal. You have to "feed" the body it's fuel. A friend of mine I have known oh for about 12 years or so. We have this discussion all the time. She says she has to eat low like that to lose weight. I keep telling her she can't sustain it and when she does go back to eating normal her body takes it as a sign of WHOA! We better store up for the winter. Food is scarce around here. So she gains weight. Then that makes her want to eat less and round and round we go. What calorie level for your current activity level did MFP give you. Take this as motivation and not nagging. ;) By the way, your sister sounds like a smart cookie.

oh it's Saturday. Skipping over Friday must have messed me up. lol So I'll weigh in tomorrow.
