Wait, since January you haven't had anything but potatoes, chicken, cheese, ketchup, and hot sauce?
Essentially yes. I also have some bran flakes, dry, as a daily snack. Once in a while I will have salsa instead of ketchup. Rarely Ill toss some minced garlic into the potatoes.
Once a month I allow a "cheat meal" of a chick fil a sandwich but only adds in 100 calories above my 1400 daily goal. One day this year I had 2 chicken tacos instead of the chick fil a.
Im full every day and look forward to every meal. I get not everyone could do it, but it is working for me. I get into trouble with having too many options.
No judgement from me - I understand this approach. Potatoes are also pretty awesome nutritionally so you could have chosen a much worse basic staple.

It wasn't judgment, I was just curious. @SeikoMonster I hope my comment didn't come across as judgmental, if it did then I apologize.

Just for ease of logging I prefer to choose from a small variety of ingredients for each meal.
Last night the family wanted tacos, so instead of using the recipe tool to achieve gram precision I just logged them as Taco Bell tacos. Good enough.
I've tried twice to say more, but both times I just went on and on with TMI.
Basically, I make changes to the variety of vegetables I use as the vegetables I already have get used up. There.2 -
I've eaten the same dinner for over 18 months now lol. People always ask me how I don't get bored of food. I respond with because food doesn't give me pleasure nor does it make my days any better. I just see it as something you have to eat and think of it as fuel for my body and workouts and thus leading me to healthier choices.3

Agree, its helped change my mindset as well. Knowing exactly what I am going to eat doesn't lead to the trap of "oh guess Ill get a pizza"

But yes potatoes are great!janejellyroll wrote: »It wasn't judgment, I was just curious. @SeikoMonster I hope my comment didn't come across as judgmental, if it did then I apologize.
Not at all! I'm used to the "Wait what? Potatoes???" It will change eventually into a much more balanced diet, but my goal is to hit 30 BMI before I start worrying about the "lifestyle change" to keep it off type of eating.3 -
I have eaten pretty much the same breakfast/lunch (it's the same meal for me since I IF) for the past 3 years. Cottage cheese and vegetables. The current iteration is with quinoa on salad greens. In the winter, I do it with warm veg, like butternut squash or spaghetti squash.0

Can someone tell me what hot dog salad is?0

I pretty much live off three dishes, but I've always been a man of habit.
For instance, at work, the chefs would start making my breakfast/lunch as soon as they saw me walk in the cafeteria.0 -

For mine, I put cut up hotdogs, mustard, ketchup and caramelized onions over a huge bed of spinach and mixed greens. The volume is filling af and low calories... yummy macros.

I am trying to figure out what to eat. I think I will do better if it is just about the same thing. Too many choices leads me to too many exceptions. I do find that I tend to go off my plan at a restaurant and don't let me start with the bread and butter.

So do you remove the skin of the potatoes first, then boil and then place in your waffle iron? Thanks0

Skinned red potatoes.
Skin, cut into chunks, boil for 16 mins, drain off the water, quick mash. When I say quick mash, I go around the bowl 4 times with my masher just to get the boiled chunks together, not looking for "mashed potatoes" constancy.
Then I squish it down into a tupperwear container. I put mine into the fridge at least overnight, but that is probably not needed. But it makes loading them into the iron easy in one big chunk.
36 oz (2.3 pounds) of unskinned reds will give you 2, 14 oz portions once skinned. 14 oz portion is what I have per meal and it works to 291 calories on the reds that I buy. I take that 14 oz portion and make 2 waffles out of it.
I make a 2 day batch at once just to save time cooking. I weigh it and portion it out into tupperware. Takes me just over an hour from start to done with cleanup to do 2 days of meals.1 -
SeikoMonster, thank you so much for your recipe!0

I'm the same way, and it's really the only thing that's ever worked for me. I meal prep on Sunday for the entire week, and it's the same thing every week -- breakfast sandwich for breakfast; sweet potatoes/brown rice, broccoli, and seasoned chicken breast for lunch. Dinner varies. I find myself actually looking forward to specific foods the next day as opposed to not having any clue what I'm going to eat and EVERYTHING sounding good.0

If it works for you that is great!
I have limited choices for breakfast, lunch and snacks most days. I have more variety with dinner because I like to cook and try different things.
Typically I eat things like this:
Breakfast- low prep foods like Greek yogurt, granola bars, cereal with milk, sandwich, dinner leftovers, fruit, cottage cheese
Lunch- things like sandwich, salad, or dinner leftovers
Dinner- something different every night of the month. Soup once a week usually.
Snacks- things like fruit, chips, popcorn, pretzels, dark chocolate, cookies, granola bar, carrots, celery, broccoli, trail mix, deviled eggs, pickles, cottage cheese0 -
Creature of habit over here as well. I have eaten the same breakfast (oats/protein powder/berries/yogurt/flax) for several years. Lunch I always have a tortilla with avocado and some sort of Lean Cusine meal so that can vary. Snacks are pretty much homemade protien balls, fruit, cereal, and quest bars. Dinner is always a huge plate of veggies with some sort of protein (chicken, turkey, fish, etch.) avocado with toast. I pretty much keep my meals the same during the week, weekends when we go out I tend to eat more of a variety of foods. My husband doesn't understand how I don't get sick of eating the same things, but it works for me!0
