Aren't scones the antithesis of a muffin?
You're scone-ing wrong. You want some jam and clotted cream on there.
I knew a Brit would chime in! What is clotted cream? Googling now.
ETA Sounds amazing and amazon sells it. Getting me some.
It should really be bought fresh, I don't know how not fresh stuff tastes. I hope it's good because it's a godly combination.
I will look for fresh. Or I can make it myself.0 -

Next we should debate whether the clotted cream goes on first with the jam on top or vice-versa.
PS: I'm a "jam first" kinda gal.0 -
Dried up muffins can be re-animated by coarsely crumbling them up and gently folding them with Greek yogurt and an appropriate fruit. Creates a trifle sort of affair. Less sadness.
I'll have to try this. Salvation for a crusty, old muffin. @snickerscharlie this may be for you too!5 -

Speak for yourself. As much as I detest dry muffins, a soggy, mushy one would be just as bad. It's a texture thing.1 -
I had the most amazing cinnamon muffin from Dunkin Donuts when I was on vacation last month. YUM!3

Being I'm not from the south of England, I don't care what you do with your scone toppings. I like cream first though, pain in the *kitten* trying to an even spread with jam slipping about underneath. I don't do toppings per bite, whole scone.0 -
I'm on board with anything cinnamon related. Cinnabon is pretty much one of my first eats when I land in the US on holiday!
That and a cinnamon sugar Wetzel's Pretzel.1 -

Your post reminded me of muffins my best friend's mom used to bake when I was in high school. Cinnamon Applesauce. They were amazing! The applesauce kept them nice and moist.
Found a recipe for them that looks good:

I'm not fussed with regular muffins, but an English muffin with baked beans is the best.
On a side note, Wikipedia says that three states in the US have official state muffins:
Massachusetts - corn muffin
Minnesota - blueberry muffin
New York - apple muffin
Is a corn muffin anything like cornbread?0 -
