I teach high school philosophy and theology. I have spent the summer learning in an amateur way, quantum physics, general relativity, string theory, and something new called holography because the kids are interested in this. And it is fascinating and very accessible. I have also been reading Quine and some Putnam, and thinking about the relationship between philosophy, theology, and science. And trying to learn Italian while driving.

That I need to be happy with where I'm at, and I need to adjust my personal expectations accordingly, or else I'll drive myself crazy.

Life starts hurting just a little bit less once you tell life to *kitten* off and find the little reasons to smile. Not the ones that give you temporary happiness, but the ones that you can go to them time and time again and know that the feeling of happiness and fullness never change.

Sometimes it's worth it to take the extra time to make sure you're understood rather than just assuming it and possibly doing damage.

Whatever's going to happen will happen whether I like it or not, so I need to be proactive about it and figure out how to remedy the situation

My patience is very thin when I'm in a bad mood and I should not be around people.

I learned today that if mice can't smell, mice don't gain weight, instead mice lose weight. I'm not sure if this is going to be applied to humans, but the use of the diphtheria virus to kill the murine olfactory sense just seems to be a deal breaker for humans.

I'm learning that people are very open minded about new ideas and concepts - as long as they're exactly like their old ideas.

    Today I'm learning:
    - People like to flaunt their stuff (no matter how busted it looks). I wish I was that confident.
    - People get offended very easily so be sensitive to that. It's okay to bite your tongue and don't say anything.
    - Lastly, I don't like the word areola. B)
