For me, I personally distinguish between general carbs (fruit, vegetables, beans) and "white" carbs (bread, crackers, white rice, baked goods). I know people who eat very low carb will cut out most carbs but I'm not doing that. I have a hard time with bread etc. because I tend to eat too much of it. It also spikes my blood sugar, especially if I eat them first thing in the morning, then leaves me with that shaky hunger mid-morning.
So if my eating style was one that worked for you I would recommend adding lots of vegetables, beans, etc. and cutting back on noodles, bread, and other things like that. I haven't cut all that out, but for example salty potato chips (yum) -- I might get them when I'm out somewhere but I try to avoid bringing them home because I'll eat too many.3 -

and you do? can you provide your credentials as a registered dietician, because that is who I and many many others work with (specifically mine - 4 with PhD in Nutrition and dietetics, 1 with a PhD in exercise physiology) - mine develop customized nutrition plans, and little to none of this low carb stuff - in fact the vast majority of people come from low calorie/low carb backgrounds and are making huge gains in health and wellbeing by increasing carbs and adequately fueling bodies18 -

Keto can be healthy or unhealthy. A vegetarian/vegan diet can be healthy or unhealthy. An omnivorous diet can be healthy or unhealthy. A calorie deficit can be healthy or unhealthy. A calorie surplus can be healthy or unhealthy.
Context and dosage are the principles which matter in every one of those cases.29 -
I never said keto was magic and I did not try to shove my beliefs down anyone's throat. I've been dieting/training for years and have gone through my share of plateaus.
I've counted macros, eaten higher carbs, low fat, almost everything you can think of. I speak from experience. I won't share information in anything I personally have not had success in.

Oh and to all of you with a problem, I never suggested to any person on this thread that they should eat keto, I merely suggested lowering carbs and increasing proteins and fats (this does not have to be at a ketogenic level).
When you take advice, listen to someone who has the RESULTS you want and has achieved it otherwise you're just filling your brain with a bunch of useless opinions. There are several ways to skin a cat, and keto is not the only answer.8 -

First, I think the backlash is aimed more at the other poster than your posts. Second, the people posting like anvilhead and de anal fisher (I loved that BTW) have show results and are a couple of the more respected posters on this site. You MAY be as knowledgeable as them, but I personally have no way of knowing that. I do know them and their posts and they are respected here for a reason.

Ok well your brain got you in the position you're in right now and if you aren't happy with where you are at perhaps it's time to start leveraging someone else's. Find someone who lives the lifestyle you want to live and ask them to mentor you.

A doctor most likely has less nutrition knowledge than those here who have been there and done that.
Carbs are not terrible for you. But if you're only eating carbs and not leaving any room for protein and fat, it is a problem.

I don't know if you do, either. You never post any reputable evidence to back up your claims. You knock down what others have to say- it's your way or the highway. Many who post here are well versed in physiology and sciences in general. I'd rather listen to them.
I was very ill on low carb/keto. I did it for many months. So that's healthy?11 -
I'm not saying I'M an RD - I'm saying that I work with a team of people who are - with decades of experience in nutrition. I won't fail at my diet because I'm not on one...and my caloric goals are 23-2800 a day (and weight stable) - depending on where in my carb cycle I am10

Carbs are one of the essential nutrients along with protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and water. It's all about the calories in weight loss. Nutrients are a different story.
I took a quick look at your food list above. The one thing that struck me is you don't seem to eat any vegetables. What about swapping out something for a large salad or several servings of other vegetables? Vegetables are the carbs I choose first.
Just to point out, carbs are not an essential macronutrient. Your body can create glucose by converting fats/proteins through glucenogenesis. Carbs can make a body run optimally though, increase exercise recovery, protect muscle, etc....
OP, what are your stats? That will determine if 2 lbs is aggressive or even feasible.

I keep my carbs at or below 30 grams. That has made all the difference for my weight loss!!!13

Probably proves again that different things work for different people. But carbs are not evil. As long as you get your minimum recommended amount of daily protein and fats, feel free to fill rest with carbs. Or you can reduce carb intake and increase fats, if that works better for you.
