Oh my goodness Michelle in NC now I see your concern. I am sure you will get through it all but I have no experience with showers other than as an attendee. Hmm, perhaps that tells you something about me! My mother-in-law lives in California--I met her twice and the second time apparently only because her children persuaded her she had to if she wanted to see the baby (we were there for FiL's funeral). Now that my husband is dead, husband's sister gets the holiday cards and photo of the boy. I do not have MILs phone number or address. I tell myself it is ok but you will know it has been hurtful that they had so little interest in my boy. My parents have been dead for so long but there was never a time I could not have called my mother. My Dad even took his life in his hands and got on an airplane and came to Montana. The plane had trouble on the way home and he never flew again. I do not recall if he visited Oklahoma. How delighted and proud they would have been if they had lived to meet their grandson. I think no matter what happens, your child will know you have her back is my point. And it could still calm down when the event happens. Perhaps your drive North will be lovely and something funny and treasurable will happen.
Got to get this day started-I am out of thyroid medicine and foresee a call to the mail-order pharmacy to say WHERE IS IT? Maybe I will drive to the base to see if there is a Rx on file but I am not very hopeful with mail-order. Sigh, just going ahead and taking the rest of stuff. Why do I have 3 months of shots but can not even get an extra week of thyroid stuff when I have plenty of fat (shot) and NO THYROID (tiny cheap pill)? And why has the VA not figured out widow/survivor benefits for us yet? Not knocking my husband's service or the military or even our country but jeez, only the IRS and SS ever send stuff and they want money or to reduce benefits. Will just shut up and deal with SS today.
Time for son to get back to school. We started reading his books last night and will do some math today. We were supposed to go to Charlottesville VA for a meet and greet on Thursday but I just do not know. I have never been one to not go as I pleased in the past but I have big doubts about this. It is about 3 hours drive for us and we would barely get home before dark--I do not see well in dark. Surely the troble there has ended? Anyone have a thought? I would like a more objective opinion.

Love the pic of Joaquin KJ. Oh my goodness the hair!! I know what you mean on the scales numbers being more satisfying than the tape measure. I was getting very discouraged by the up and down I did for almost a month. The scale is finally my friend and I am losing again. I will measure again tomorrow and see how that is going (I only measure once a month). A friend asked me Friday night how much I have lost and how many sizes. I told her no sizes yet. It takes a while when you are tall to see sizes change, which is good when your going up but seems to take forever when your going down. She said she could tell that my clothes were looser which I had noticed too. I wear mostly dresses, so I don't have a waistband very often. I did try a dress that was obscenely tight (in my eyes) before I started losing and it fit great on Saturday. So, progress is happening.

    Good luck today Allie!

Heather - still loving your travel pics!

Beautiful day, rain last night and this morning we could actually see the mountains again. It rained again later in the morning. DD is in Houston on her way to Panama for a few days courtesy of her best friend who is traveling with her. Ate leftovers from the birthday dinner today and did pretty well.

Gloria - My belief is that swimming can be a spiritual experience. I used to swim at the YW when I worked there. We would turn off the overhead lights and just leave the underwater ones on. It was so relaxing. I am thinking about doing a pod float just to see what it is like. There is a new place that opened not too far from here.

Carol in GA - I give my poodle pills in a chunk of canned cat food. She is positive the cat has much better food than she does so swallows it right down.

Pip - I like your hair both ways but know that I need short hair if I am wearing my riding helmet. Which way is it easier to take care of when you wear your bike helmet so much?

Michelle - Don't you just wish people would stick to their assigned roles? I'm with you, you are the mother of the bride and some things should just be your prerogative.

Lisa - Glad your fundraiser came off well.

Heather - Wow, sounds like an awesome night.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

I know right?? That's y I'm struggling with the decision

NY Karen you are right I would love it!

love your travel pic. My mom was a world traveler. I have fond memories of going through the travel books she made when she was in the Nursing Home. She had taken a river boat cruise through Russia. Stunning architecture.

Gloria I think I am going to try this with coconut milk and blueberries.

On Friday a friend brought a stirred fried batch of veggies from her garden. I added seasoned stir fry chicken and made a coconut milk and peanut butter sauce. She also brought a fresh tomato and basil salad. One of the best meals ever and with great company. After dinner went for a walk in the local park nearby.

Kate I enlarge the type on my lap top so I don't have to get my reading glasses out. There is a magnifying glass in the top right hand corner next to an outline of a star.

    Choir sang yesterday.

Hi all! Back on the ship after our day in Tallinn. I was five hours actually walking about, up quite a lot of steps! :o We have been so lucky with the weather this holiday. :DB)
It's a very compact old town, so easy to get around and see everything. The viewpoint I sent the picture from is in the higher part of town where the main church is. It is covered on the inside with intricately carved memorial plaques to the great of the city. I also loved the old box pews (Lutheran) and the two which were higher up some steps and glassed in for the uppity folks! !!
We also visited the Russian Orthodox church and listened to the beautiful chanting/singing. The worshippers all wear headscarves and dresses below their knees, so they look very old fashioned, like something out of an old photo.
Unfortunately the church in the lower town is shut on Mondays (Grrrrrrrrrr! ) as it has a famous Dance Macabre wall painting that I was excited about seeing. I didn't know it was shut, so was very disappointed.
After seeing the main sights we walked around the well preserved ramparts through a lovely park and came out on the other side where we found a local food market. We decided to buy lunch and eat it in the park. We bought some seaweed salad, some fried sardines and some local raspberries. The salad and the sardines came to about $0.5 :o:o:o That's right, not a misprint!
Later we had a delicious grapefruit tasting local beer, which was one of the best beers we have had since NYC.
Then I came back to the ship, taking the photo on the way back, while DH carried on climbing the ramparts.
I bought local chocolate, marzipan, ( Tallinn famous for it) and two espresso cups for my son, who is a coffee nerd, that have a cow decoration and udders for the handles.

    Now for a relaxing night.
We have a "Sixties Singalong" to look forward to. :D:D:D

M, I am still constantly amazed at the distances you ride. I just can’t imagine biking that far.

Thanks ... and the funny thing is, I try not to think about the distances or they'd scare me. The trick is to break it up into easily manageable portions and just to do that distance ... and again ... and again ... :)

Monday again! Monday's are probably my busiest days. I bus into town to go to work for an hour, then walk to university, then attend a 2-hour tutorial, study for a while, then a 1-hour lecture, study for a while, then the gym, and wrapping it up with more studying.

Today my husband and I just did the spinning class at the gym. 54 minutes and an approximate 23 km. I kind of took it easy because I'm still coughing a little.

And now ... finishing my assignment. It is due to be submitted at 11:45 pm.

Handed it in with about 3 minutes to spare. Could have used about 15 more minutes, but it is what it is.

The rest of the marks in this course are all in quizzes, tests, and exams. No more assignments.

Pip: Viagra is a prescription medicine for men with erectile dysfunction.

Gloria: The medical version of MJ doesn't bring on a high, but it does relieve pain. You can eat either version rather than inhale. Brownies are famous. Back in the 70's I seasoned a pot roast with it and served it to my parents for dinner. Nobody got high, but they were the most relaxed and pleasant I've ever seen them. I wouldn't recommend it for people wanting to avoid overeating. :noway: :noway: :noway: Regarding using a bike indoors for fitness. We had a stand that we purchased from Performance Bicycles for about $200 but gave it away when DH could no longer balance on a two-wheeled bike. We now have a system that is manufactured for recumbent tricycles. Good luck finding what you need.

Heather: I love he photo of you in Tallin. You look wonderful! :star:

Kelly: Joaquin is a happy looking fellow. What a charmer! :flowerforyou:

Kate UK: I use my phone to record all my food, but when I want to visit with the ladies here it is too limiting, so I use my computer.

The dog is currently at the groomer and I am looking forward to yoga today. I've had to miss way too much yoga this year and I feel it. I am not as supple as I was or as I want to be. :grumble:

I bought a hat at the 'junk' shop yesterday.

Don't know when/where I'll ever have the chance to wear it, but it makes me so happy every time I look at it that I'm going to say it was 12$ well spent.

There was a huge thunderboomer storm here in the early AM - and it started with a boom so loud it scared my kitty senseless. Unfortunately this kitty was sleeping on my back (I was sleeping on my stomach) and the light cotton sleep top now is bloody and sliced up as it was no match for the kitty claws. I can't blame him, that boom was LOUD but ow. Lol. I foresee a claw cutting session for my three felines tonight even if it is a bit like 'closing the barn door after the cows got out.'

Nothing noteworthy to report, scale has me up .1 pound since last week. Swam 3 days last week - my watch recorded 4743 meters. 7.5 hours of aqua fit class last week. 3 strength training sessions last week. Came in under calories every day last week. Almost hit my Protein goal for week.

Tried a protein bar recipe yesterday - to me they taste just like thin mints. Amazing. Will probably try the lemon coconut protein bar recipe next.

My schedule is all messed up today as we had plumber in so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go swimming today. Luckily my DH reports the back punctures from kitty are all ok and he bandaged up the deep one on my shoulder blade so I am pool legal if I manage to get there. (No open wounds in pool).

    Have a good week all!
