What nobody tells you about losing weight

You can fit in a weight loss schedule simply into your life by just eating less everyday. No one tells you that it is that simple, so we sometimes get so confused and anxious about how to reach our fitness goals. But if it's just weight loss that we want, eating less is the solution. On the other hand, getting physically stronger, more flexible and agile overall requires exercise.15

The more you lose, the more people notice (or at least comment). No one noticed anything until I was 25 pounds down, and now that I've lost nearly 40, I'm getting comments at least a couple times a week!
Also, I thought all y'all were exageratting the shrinking foot thing, but this week I've noticed that my shoes are a lot roomier and when I walk, you can actually see the bones in my feet moving! Now, if only my hands would start to slim up..... (I've always admired women with thin, elegant hands like I've never had!)

I look in the mirror and I expect to be bigger, but I'm not and I always find it mildly surprising.
I feel ridiculously small. I've spent almost all of my adult years overweight or obese and to be as small as I am now. . .it's almost unnerving.
I realize being fat was kind of a shield for me. I'm shy by nature and it's easier to fad into the background when you're the fat girl. And food was my friend for so long. I guess enemy is more like it, but it was so easy to turn when I was mad or sad or stressed. Now I actually have to deal with things.
It's weird. I feel more alive now if that makes sense. More "me", but God it's terrifying.38 -

Remember, you can't pick or choose where you lose fat, so your body doesn't think your fingers is where to pull it from at the moment. Be patient, and don't be so upset. My body decided that my chest would be the first thing to go.10 -
- Guys actually hit on me now. I think it's more the way I carry myself now that I like the way I look rather than because I'm 25 pounds skinnier, but I feel . . . visible.
- The amount of shame that gets aimed at you for losing weight. I've had people make comments about how I'm too skinny, others complain when I am excited that I finally went down a pant size, and far more feel like it's a judgment on them and launch into an explanation of how they need to lose weight but just can't. I never know how to respond to any of them. I'm not judging anyone. I'm happy to support anyone who wants to be healthier, but the changes going on with me are not a reflection on anyone else. This is my journey, and it's one everyone has to take alone.
- That I still feel fat some days. I own a bikini, and despite the fact that I know I don't weigh what I used to, I still feel naked and fat when I think about walking out the door without throwing my tank top on over it.
Completely agree with the second point. You get comments that you're going too far, you look skinny, you look I'll or they are saying that you don't know when to stop. Strangely these comments tend to come from people who are overweight themselves.16 -
One of the drawbacks of loosing weight. We have a bed which has a piston operated system to lift the head side of the bed to red. Pushing it back down was always a case of pulling the cord and leaning onto the top Not so anymore. I virtually have to climb on top of it as there is not enough weight in my upper body to lean into it and push it flat. Amuses my husband to no end every evening when I push it down and climb it. I am in favour of an automated system (read new bed)16

When I see myself in pictures of videos I feel like I look way smaller than what I see in the mirror. Sometimes I think I still have around 10 pounds I need to lose but when I see a picture I realize that I actually look pretty skinny. 45 pounds ago it was the opposite where I thought I looked ok in the mirror but hated what I saw in pictures and videos16

Hehehe. Problems you didn't know existed. I had to buy a new bed because I found out my old mattress wasn't actually comfortable, I just had a big layer of fat that was my cushion.
Good luck on convincing your husband to get a new bed!6 -

Ah yes, the ever popular "you're doing it wrong" even though what you are doing is working. It's only slightly more annoying than "your opinion is wrong".
If whatever you are doing is working for you, you are healthy and happy.... Then keep doing it!7 -

Haven't had that happen to me. I have had a few folks ask me what I did and how I did it. I explained my approach and everybody said, "I'll give it a shot." But only one has actually lost any weight (that I've noticed).2 -

Oh, I know, and I'm not upset at all, lol. I guess my original post could've used an emoji or something3 -

I know what you mean. I'd lost 25 pounds but none of it from my face. But when I lost the next five people started noticing I'd been losing weight because that's when it came off my face. At the 50 pounds lost mark I'm still waiting for the love handles to go....13 -

LOL, okay.2 -
how I forget sometimes until someone comments.... like my ortho surgeon the other day says "are you intentionally losing weight, if so you look great" I had not seen him in quite a while... so there's that.16

There are love handles in that profile pic???4 -
That you will skip over an entire size of clothing in your closet in a month-the wrong month, inevitably.
Also, (eventually) being able to share clothes with my daughter-she has invaded my closet enough-time to return the favor.11 -

I have had that. Despite the results that I have. Their way is better apparently. So why are they not losing the weight I am? Next time I am going to ask them that!

That it takes your brain a long time to catch up with your body and you'll still see yourself as fat even when others are commenting on how "tiny" you now are.
That some people will be shocked when you tell them that no you're not finished losing yet.
That constantly buying new clothes will get expensive (I was in a UK 14 for less than a month)
That your feet will shrink, seriously I've gone down over a shoe size.
That there are people that think their magic diet is better than yours, seriously no, I don't need to go low carb, I'm the one that's lost 140lb, I think I know how to lose the weight and low carb is not for me.35 -
That once I've figured out how to lose weight, people who drink "diet water" and "anti-cellulite powders" and advise that "not eating for 7 days is incredibly good for your health" are incredibly frustrating to me and infuriating at times.
That on some days I feel exactly how I looked before I started, and my brain categorically refuses to put things into perspective, regardless of what I know.23 -
How the feeling is nonexistent because I haven't reached the goal yet XD7
