Went to Costco today and cashier asked if it was really me in the picture on back of my membership card....Sometimes I forget that it has old picture on it.
He congratulated me on my weight loss.....29 -
Yesterday was take Mom to the movies day. Yay!
Win #1 Pre-planned salted, buttered popcorn & regular soda into my meal log. (We split a small popcorn instead of the medium we used to get.)
Win#2 Spontaneously skipped adding salt to the popcorn. (Tasted just fine without the extra.)
Win#3 Ordered half regular Coca-Cola and half Coca-Cola Zero. (Yes, it's still junk + junk, but half the calories! I haven't found anything besides soda I like to drink with movie theater popcorn.)
Win #4 Under calorie/sodium goals!
I am proud of my changes in thought patterns. My former self would have written off the entire day as a "cheat day," throwing in a movie hot dog and maybe candy too.31 -
Feeling like my muscles are getting bigger and stronger. Now to fine tune my diet again so that the fat doesn't look so out of place! Feeling committed to lose my last 30 lbs!26

Been staying in my calorie goals but not back in the gym yet: house re-decorating / re-modeling is a workout in and of itself!
Over the weekend, I started wandering into what has always seemed to me to be the hard-core, guy section of Home Depot. Everything is big, stacked high, and no labels. I was in shorts and a way-too-big t-shirt. Paint all over me. Undoubtedly looking lost as I was trying to find drywall compound and a blue can of window-foam-expander stuff. (Huh?) Anyway, I am pretty clueless when it comes to guys, and it's only afterwards that I realized I was being checked out and flirted with a bit.
Guess where I'll be next weekend?!
I also found another acting class that starts in a couple weeks and is just a few minutes from my home. Perfect time, perfect location ... perfect way to start my weekend.
It's fun having fun! I had forgotten ...33 -

Fighting my way through a plateau the last couple of weeks trying to get to break through 33 lbs lost,
but today's NSV is testament that weight is not the only important part of improving my diet.
My cholesterol has been high for the last 3 decades, sometimes to a silly level (over 300 total,
over 200 bad). Then today I got this...I'll take the win.

I can touch my thumb and forefinger around my opposite wrist. It's been at least a decade, possibly two, since I could last do that30

The other week I bought a shirt from a non-Plus sized store for the first time in years. Just a regular mall store. It wasn't even their largest size! They go up to XXL and I fit an XL! I ordered it online and it arrived today and looks GREAT. I'm so friggin thrilled! I'm right on the cusp of fitting both straight and plus sizing but it still feels amazing to have so many options opening up to me again.36

I started in late June in the 260s with a goal of being in the 240s by my 20th wedding anniversary this September. Well, four weeks out and I'm in the 240s already.39

I think losing weight is helping with my adult acne. I used foundation for years, and this year I just stopped. My face looks really clear in all my photos. Unfortunately I have all these expensive foundation at home that I don't use. Also, I have so much more energy. I enjoy dancing and with the extra weight I was easily exhausted and needed frequent breaks to catch my breath. But lately I can dance none stop for an hour and keep going. More surprising benefits of losing weight26

GOOD JOB! Well done and keep it up! Your risk for developing heart disease has dropped significantly.

I ordered a new golf style work shirt last week. My previous one was a 3XL, new one is XL and fits !! That's 50 lbs and 3 sizes down from April. Woo hoo.... no more numbers in front of the size!38

I forgot to pack my Spanx for a wedding this weekend and felt less than great BUT a guy we met kept telling my husband what a hot wife he has!
He was fairly drunk ....40 -
Bought my first pair of size 4 jeans. The size 8 that I bought 3 months ago are sliding down. Cleaned out some more of my closet. No more XL tops in there!26

1) Ignoring homemade coffee and walnut cake and having eggs, salmon and oatmeal instead.
2) my longest bike ride in 3 years - 29 km.
3) picking up the weights again after 3 years.35 -
I have lost almost 20 lbs in two in a half months. I don't see a difference when I look in the mirror though, BUT I have a jacket that was given to me as a gift for Christmas a couple years ago. I would wear it, but wouldn't zip it up because it was uncomfortably tight. I tried it on a couple days ago and it zipped without a hassle and is snug, but not uncomfortably tight anymore. Also, a pair of pants that I decided to keep "in case I ever lose weight" actually fit now too. It is a good feeling. I know that I have a lot more to go, but seeing this little progress made me a bit proud of myself.40

Busy day:
Walked a lot
Cycled a lot (but only hit 45.8mph - the wind and other road users were against me)
Ran a lot
The downside to this:
I ate a lot
I'll have to go shopping tomorrow because I think that I may just have eaten all the food.
The upside is:
I stayed within my calorie goal
I feel amazing (and I may actually get a decent night's sleep tonight)
Edited to add:
My younger son (the 12 year old with feet problems who really doesn't do anything physical) completely floored me earlier by asking when we could go out cycling again. I was like "you WHAT?" and got the response that he'd really enjoyed the family bike ride on Sunday and wanted to go again. I had to be scraped up off the floor, I was so surprised by this. We are going tomorrow evening41 -
I actually did a plank for 30 seconds on my toes instead of my knees for the first time!40

After showering today I reached for my extra large towel but grabbed a standard sized towel instead. Surprise surprise, it not only wrapped around me, but I was able to tie it enough to walk across the hall.34

You need to reward yourself with a spa day. I was told this one, didn't understand why.... It's because now the fancy spa bathrobes that were all too small, FIT!!!! Besides, who couldn't use a spa day.24 -
I can now fully encircle my wrist with my thumb and pinkie
I was not able to do this a few days ago...22 -
My legs have been feeling better. Not great, but a lot better. I've been missing running, and this morning around 5 AM did the first day of a running program to ease back into it. It went OK. Some pain but I'm hoping it's just working out the kinks rather than injury. And made it to a 6.17 train for an all-day faculty mtg17

I just got my first compliment for my weight loss from someone that didn't know that I was trying to lose weight36

Have you ever run across before and after weight loss photos online and you just think that can't be the same person?
I was looking through old photos of myself last night and discovered a rare, full length, 'early weight loss days' photo of me.
I say rare because I didn't take photos in those days so most photos I'm using as before pictures are photos from either a couple of months into my weight loss or from months before I got as big as I did or aren't full length.
A lot of days I think to myself 'I look better, but I don't look like I lost 50+ pounds' or '50 pounds is a decent amount, but it's not like I lost as much as some people.'
So. . .yeah, I definitely look like I lost 50 pounds. I don't even look like the same person.
If I didn't know it was me I wouldn't believe it.35 -
Forgot to post this but just like I was hoping.... We went back to school last week and there were two people who (granted they weren't great friends, just acquaintances) re-introduced themselves to me, thinking I was someone else!
Also, I got the first, "you don't know what it's like, you're skinny" comment. Made me happy and sad at the same time.
Everyday is a new NSV. I hope it will always be like this!32
