Allie - your post about your happy, relaxing, grown up evening, warmed my heart. You know, life can be like that for you, most of the time, now you have claimed your life back.
Medical advice nowdays is not to drink too much water. Liquids count as water and some vegetables contain a lot of water. There is no health advantage in drinking more than you are comfortable with. As long as your urine is light coloured and you have a good throughput, you are fine. It is, in fact, dangerous to drink too much water. If you are consuming around 64 oz in total liquids a day, that is good.
I am a tea-aholic and drink around 5 or 6 large mugs during the day and evening with a splash of semi skimmed milk. I drink one large mug of strong milky coffee after exercise in the morning. I log 100 cals for all my added semi skimmed milk. I drink a glass of fizzy water with bitters or fresh lime juice in it with lunch. I sometimes have a very spicy tomato juice or a carrot juice around 5 pm. (60 cals.) I have a drink with my evening meal - sometimes non alcoholic, (slimline tonic, lime and bitters) sometimes alcoholic, which could be pastis, (70 cals), manzanilla sherry, or, once a week, wine. I try to avoid wine because we always finish the bottle between us and I don't feel good about that. :noway: I am trying to have more alcohol free days. I was doing brilliantly before the cruise and want to get back into that habit. I want to get back to below 14 units a week, which is the government guideline. I had got down to around 10. That made me very happy.

Rori great job on the weight loss!
I didn't write down any goals for last month because I was having trouble getting myself back on track. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I went to Costco one day and bought Protein Powder - Chocolate. I hadn't planned to buy it and at the time I was thinking about the football boys and what they should have before going to practice or a game. Turned out they didn't like it but I did. So the next day I started having a chocolate banana protein drink for breakfast and eating right again. On August 10 I weighed in at 280 and am now down to 257.8. I have been exercising almost everyday and doing my PT for my knee. Granted some of the loss I think may have been water gain from the prednisone. Whatever got me started again I am thankful and feeling great. Thanks to Barbie I am now doing weight bearing exercises along with my swimming at the Y.
Speaking of the Y the weirdest things happened this week. First the pump went out on the small pool, then the hot water tank went on the whole building so cold (brrrrr) showers, then yesterday someone cut their foot on a tile that came loose in the main pool so it has to be drained to be repaired. This is NOT an old facility - it's only been there maybe 7 or eight years. The pools were suppose to be closed between the 2nd and 11th for yearly maintenance but now they are closed and still won't reopen until the 11th. If I want to go to another Y to swim I have to go 20 miles away. I am not liking this one bit! Swimming is my favorite exercise and the only other pool in town is $8 a day. Not doing that with the price of gas and milk going up.
Think I'll go watch a TV show before I head to bed. I want to get everything ready tomorrow for our trip to Ocean Shores so we can leave early in the morning before the boys get on the dreaded XBOX
Love to all - Gloria in WA

Rori as a first baby step, sounds like a good plan. Start out small and build that relationship. Good for you on the weight loss.

•steer clear of toxic or negative folks at work

Morning all, happy September!
Barbie - thank you, as always, for being the sun that we circle around that never eclipses...
Rori - for a baby step, it was a giant leap forward. Knowing assistance is needed and doing something about it are two very different things. I'm really proud of you.
Allie - you felt grown-up because your soon-to-be-ex treated you like a child. You have every right to that grown-up feeling, and it's lovely to see you reveling in it. You deserve that.
And, like Rori, I'm two pounds down... I'm OK with that.
Goal for September - lose two pounds.
Lisa in West Texas5 -
I lost 0.5 lb last week. Delighted!
Michelle - Welcome from me down south. Hampshire.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx, getting ready to leave for my nephew's 16th birthday bbq.3 -
Allie, It's never too late to become an adult. Tom treated you like a child.
Thank you for all the kind words. This thread is a lifeline for me so my part in keeping it going is getting it started each month. All of you keep it going in your own special ways with humor, responding to many, providing information on important topics, sharing photos of family or travel, suggesting great ideas for food and exercise, and giving warm and loving support and encouragement.
Welcome to new members from UK and New Zealand....I love the international and multi-hemisphere composition of our community.

margaret don't know about your specific amount of paperwork but this is what I do everyday to maintain peace:
I stand by recycling box and pitch junk right when I get my mail. I take 10 minutes to clear up anything that can be cleared up within 10 minutes. I have a spot behind my calendar for things that need to be handled through the month, this is cleared out every month. Oh, I also put due dates and action items on my calendar--this puts a fire under me cause I can procrastinate. nykaren

Good morning-a bit rainy here in Virginia. Can not complain about this week-of course, maybe later today I could have some disaster. Read through our new month and glad to see everyone is kicking it forward. Big plans-grocery shopping, eat leftovers, and go to Y. I read that weight loss is most effective if you combine watching calories, cardio, and strength training. Ugh. I guess I will be adding strength training. Would 1 hour a week be enough?2

Holy cow it's not even 9:30 here and look at all the posts for the month already!
Well my August goals were a bust to say the least. I have been so totally overwhelmed with this legal thing that I have just barely hung on. And boy am I stress eating...and drinking! 4 drinks a month used to be a lot for me; now it's more like 4-5 a week. That's the first thing that is going by the wayside. I have found a couple more classes at the Y I really enjoy. One is called Pound which is core, squats, lunges all done while pounding plastic drumsticks on the floor. It's a blast. The other is Dance Fit which is aerobic dance and is also a blast. I need to get some better looking shorts though. I don't want the skin tight leggings everyone seems to work out in these days, but my old walmart shorts have seen MUCH better days LOL.
We are still waiting for our roof. Nearly everyone in our area is getting a roof at the least after the tornadoes this summer. Ours doesn't leak and I'm impatient! I can't imagine having the devastation in TX and not even having a roof! I should count my blessings!
Buyers are closing on one of our rentals today. We are selling them to simplify my life while DH is gone. Hope I didn't just jinx it!
Take care, need to get some work done! Meg from Omaha5 -
Wow, September is here. Past week was busy with paperwork and and a bit of stress. IRS is auditing our 2015 taxes. My husband keeps great files and I've almost gotten all the documentation we need together. It was hard to fit time in for walking with Ella (my dog) but I made it happen everyday and that kept me sane.
Wishing everyone the best with the goals this month. Thanks Barbie for the new thread.

MORNING PEEPSs - left the house at 4:30 morning as usual w/kirby. it was dark as usual, i rode with him to the bus station and i just kept going to work (15mi). i took my time riding, it was nice and dark when i got out of town. at least i got some calorie burn since no gym workout. got to work at around 6am so i had to hang out for 1/2 hr til the guy came to open up. (my code doesn't activate til about 7am i guess). at least the weather was nice.
barbiecat - thanks as usual for starting up the month thread
new peeps - welcome. i REALLY wish i could hear some of you talk, ESPECIALLY the European and southern accents.. you could read out of a phone book and i would just love to hear you talk. on the other hand i find it funny that people just love to hear me talk spanish because they love to hear the way it sounds, so i guess it's kinda the same thing.
i don't chat or post much here but i am here every day without fail and i workout every day without fail.
we have a 3day weekend so that is nice!. then we are off on Friday to leave for the MS ride, then on the bike Saturday and Sunday. i am up to $1060.00 bucks!! a lady at work who had already gave me $25 gave me another $25 and i reminded her that she already donated and she said just keep it, don't make me cry, i have alot of friends who are affected... i almost started to tear up. Kirby (husband) says that we are in the running to be in the Century Club. That is the top 100 people who gather donations. you get another bike jersey that says Century Club. we already will get one for raising over $1000.00. cool.
type to ya later.

Becca: (((HUGS))) My guess is that Owain will be a success if he sticks to it. Some things take a little extra time. :flowerforyou:
WildhorseWendy: Welcome to a great group of supportive women!
Gloria: I hope you and the boys enjoy the family trip to the coast & have a wonderful time at Ocean Shores. I'm sorry that the pool at the Y needs to be repaired. I hope they're quick about it.
Heather: I was doing fine with no alcohol and then decided I could add in a little occasionally. A "little occasionally" gradually got to be daily & my weight showed it. I'm back to none & the weight is starting to go back to the place I want it to be. Sugar is exactly the same for me as alcohol. A "little" gets to be more and more. :grumble:
Rori: You are brilliant to get started with a home care agency. I hope you find the right level of support and good person. Your situation is a bit tougher than mine, but I would like help cleaning house and can't find anyone here who wants to do that. The wonderful woman we had isn't available because of health issues. She's had knee surgery and needs to have it redone. I hope for the best for her.
(((Meg)))
Pip: THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE MS RIDE! I am so grateful for your efforts. DH has MS and every step forward in conquering this awful disease is important to us. You and Kirby are heroes in my worldview.
We have hot weather headed our way. I plan to go to yoga and then the stable today, but tomorrow I'll go to the stable earlier while it is still relatively cool. Yoga is a key to better health for me, and I missed way too much of it in the early part of the year when DH was getting his eye surgeries. I feel the difference in my fitness, and it has slid down hill. I'm working my way back to where I need to be. DH is tolerant of yoga, but he doesn't understand its value in my life or why I don't like missing a class. :ohwell:
