Having a good day. We put the horses out in the front pasture. It has been so dry there is not much grass but nice for them anyway and not nearly as dusty. DD and I got new blinds put up in the living room. The old ones were broken and taken down. We have had the blinds for a while but procrastinated putting them up because we thought it was going to be difficult. It was not! Love them and the color is perfect.
Mary - Sending you traveling mercies.
KJ - Be sure your donations to Red Cross are clearly marked specifically for Harvey victims. Otherwise Red Cross just puts the funds into their general fund where they may be used for anything including administration. Not saying they don't do good work just that money doesn't always go where you think it does.
Pip - I would like a little rain but hope you have dry roads during the ride.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Hi Ladies - I am back after a long weekend away with the hub. Weight was up a lb from before I left but I am sure that is mostly water. We'll see what the scale has to say on Friday. Have a great week!

Yvonne: I can thank my union for retirement and healthcare. They've been there for me. Thank YOU for reminding me how much the labor movement has done for all of us. Happy Labor Day.
Mary: Travel safely and enjoy your new adventure.
Heather: Shopping for new birthday earrings with your DH sounds like a great idea. :flowerforyou:
Re: Can you post to us from your home? Much better for your work situation, I would think. (((hugs)))
Becca: You will be missed. (((hugs)))
Felicia: Add me to the retired teacher list. I miss the excitement of back to school, but not the exhaustion. :noway:
I pulled up my bean plants this morning and have one last batch of beans to process. It feels good. I still have a few blueberries ripening, just right for adding to breakfast. I think I have enough frozen beans and blueberries to last a good long while.

Had a treat this evening. DH cooked dinner. I heard him say the other day that he hadn't cooked in ages. He used to cook a couple of times a week, but with my calorie counting I preferred to know exactly what was going in my food so i did nearly all of it. But he was obviously missing it, so I asked him if he would like to cook tonight as he was doing the food shopping this afternoon. He was shopping because he will be out at cricket for four days taking our only car and needs lunches etc. plus veg and fruit for dinners, breakfasts. I suggested he make one of his best dishes - stir fry - and we had a very nice chicken and veg dish. I needed extra salt on mine, but otherwise it was good. I prepared some shiritaki noodles earlier for me so he only had to put the heat under them for a couple of minutes.
He will be at cricket all this week, so I can have my "funny" food for lunch. On Thursday my friend is coming for lunch and it is all prepared apart from the hummus. I haven't made that because I have completely run out of freezer space. I have two big freezers, but they are bursting with our home grown fruit at the moment. No room to make Edie's birthday cake.
I've been spending far too much time looking for a birthday present from DH to me. He always gets me little surprises to open, but the main present I usually tell him what to get. I was thinking of a sparkly dress/top for next year's cruise, but I can't make my mind up. I might just buy something really cheap and cheerful from Amazon as I won't wear it often, if ever again. Then I decided on real gold earrings as I am sensitive to other metals, but haven't succeeded in locating exactly the right pair on line. I am very fussy. We will be in Hove for my actual birthday, so I think we can trawl around the shops together. Brighton is famous for its jewellery shops in The Lanes, so I think that is the best idea. My ear lobes were quite painful on the cruise when I was wearing earrings all day, every day.
Lots of love Heather UK xxxxxxx
My hubby likes to cook for me on the weekends. It's one of his love languages so I hate to refuse it, but he likes to cook big lamb roasts with fatty roast veggies and gravy. I am going to ask ahead of time next weekend that he makes me a broccoli stir fry and cauliflower cheese instead. I'm going low-carb for awhile as I know it helps me control my crazy sugar cravings. I also buy my own pressies from my hubby, LOL. He hates to shop so I just pick something out I want.2 -
Went to State Fair again this time with DH. Loved it. Passed a test where they timed me walking across a room and back If you are too slow it correlates to a higher risk of falling. I recently read that the speed in which you walk is a strong indicator to your overall health. Nice to have my knee issue for the most part behind me.
Margaret5 -
margaret that is terrific news about your walking speed. I also want to focus on balance and core strength as this will also help potentially lower risk of falling.
Re I think of you always with us--whether you post often or not--you are staying under 200 and counting down, doesn't matter how long it takes you, you're on the path. ( )
Made a delicious Italian sausage, onion and pepper dish in IP, ive got food for the week and clothes all prepped as well. First day for school kids tomorrow - but going to be rainy

Re and Becca: Won't be the same around here without you, two. Please check back when you can.
Katla: Very excited to hear you are going to be blessed with another grandchild.
Meg: We've got the same smokey haze here in Denver. It's pretty dark. I've had second thoughts about going out on the bike, so just did treadmill this A.M.
Margaret: Soooo happy to hear your knee issues are over. Stay strong.
NYKaren: You are turning into the new IP-meister. Bone broth now on my list.
Thought I'd spend a few hours in my office just filing and doing some brain work. Hahahahaha. DH had a slip up with his daily glass of pomegranate juice, and I wound up pulling out the upholstery attachment of our carpet shampooer to avert any lasting damage to our peach colored chair cushion. And, since I had it out anyway....well, you can imagine the rest. Four hours later, one entire room shampooed, laundry is done, and latest batch of IP yougurt drained and refrigerated. I used the whey to make green smoothies, which are sitting in recycled kombucha bottles in my fridge. Later will cook a ribeye and carmelized onion which we may eat fajita-style while watching the last few innings of the baseball game.
Oh, and the best news is that we have another little trip planned. My DH is an Air Force vet, and we never tire of military airshows. I got us tickets to see the Thunderbirds on September 23rd in Colorado Springs, about 75 minutes away from us. We'll head down the night before so we can get in early and grab good seats for the show.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Hi, well I went and spent some $$ on a book of exercises. Hopefully it will give me a place to start. The book is called The Women's Health Big Book of Exercises. 733 exercises! We will see. I'll try and get up earlier tomorrow and do some before I get ready for work. I've got to start somewhere.
Finally started to lose again. 1 lb away from 30lbs!!
Tried to use some of the leftover sterling silver jumprings and made some earrings. I tried a new pattern and think they came out nice I'll take a picture. Love to get feedback.

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I've posted here but just wanted to check in. Wish I had more time to write my thoughts here.
Anyway I'm doing well. I've lost 17 pounds since late May. I started the Ketogenic diet. It's working for me. I feel more energy, mental fog is lifting, my mood has improved and best of all my blood sugar is going down.
Is anyone here on keto? I really love it.

Terry in VT , the earrings are gorgeous. I love them all.

Terry - those earrings are exquisite. I like long dangly ones like that. Congrats on the loss and enjoy that big book of exercises!
Kristina - You look great! Good job!! I think our Mary is on Keto. She's in the process of moving to AZ right now - she loves it too and her before and after photos are super. Maybe once she gets settled (or bored) she'll post them again.

I'm just busily working away on my ornaments, I have 17 done. I've had several people inquire about buying them. I would have no idea what to charge, but they are not for sale, I give them as gifts. Pics of a few completed recently are attached.

Kristina, looking good! Love that skirt.
Wow, Terry! You are super talented.
I have a head cold, which I caught from DH, who is blaming his on his flu shot. I feel like crud, but I tackled my study today and made some serious progress. Plus a friend came and took two huge trash bags of clothes and shoes, plus a box of household items off my hands. What she doesn't use, she will take to the Habitat for Humanity Re-store since she has to go there twice a week for her job. She supervises high school kids on a work study program. Just having some semblance of order back feels good.

Sue in WA - I usually get my fiber from food. I add ground flaxseed or psyllium husk or chia seeds to my food. But if necessary - I'll supplement with Metamucil.
It's a balancing act trying to keep carbs limited to 25g per meal and 75g total for the day. I know a lot of people use net carbs - subtracting fiber from carb total - but I prefer doing it this way.
Raw almonds are my go to snack. 1 ounce is about 24 almonds. I keep snack bags with 24 almonds in each bag. Each bag is 160 cal, 6g carbs and 3g fiber.
1 Tablespoon servings:
• ground flaxseed - 2g carb, 2g fiber
• chia seeds - 4g carb, 4g fiber
• psyllium husk - 8g carb, 7g fiber
• sunflower seeds - 1.5g carb, 1g fiber
• hemp hearts - 1g carb, 1g fiber
Beans are generally high in fiber - but also high in carbs. So I usually have 1/2c of beans with salad - or boost the volume by adding meat to beans.
Fruit - high in fiber and carbs. I use a small portion. I keep frozen blueberries and raspberries to add to Greek yogurt with chia seeds.

Had a lazy day. I had a 3 hour nap!
Happy Labor Day for those in the US!

Did an hour of an advanced strength DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn DVD.
I suspect we'll be talking to Denise and Jess today. I really really need to stop crying.
pip - I know that a little rain won't stop you!
I told my girlfriend in Switzerland about this shower business and her response to me was "now I wish I was coming to the US just to slap Maria across the face". Jess is still very very hurt, but she's thinking about the shower. Denise really does want her there and I know Jess wants to go for her sister but she doesn't want to feel uncomfortable. Vince just told me (he hasn't told Denise) that with all that's happened, Angela isn't going to go to the shower. She's going to tell Denise that she has to work. Vince did tell Denise that if Jess isn't going, then there's no sense at all to her paying for the shower and tomorrow is the day when the restaurant needs the final head count. She'll let Denise know what it is. Her feeling (and mine) is that she's tried so hard and she's gotten nothing but negativity, Maria wanted to have her own shower, so now she's getting it.
I'm betwixt and between to going. One the one hand, I want to support my daughter (Jess) and her feelings, but on the other hand I want to support my other daughter (Denise). I know that she'll be hurt if I'm not there. Plus, my thought is that Maria will give Denise the "see, your mother doesn't even care enough to come to your shower". Vince suggested maybe going for an hour or two and then leave. Put in an appearance. What does everyone think?
Took things to the gal whose house we play mahjongg at, they're going to Charlotte to play at the gal who moved's house. In a way, I would really have liked to go. But my daughters are more important than a game.
Then took brownies to the guy whose wife passed away for him to take to Mexican Train tomorrow. Later went to WalMart since it appears that Jess wants to make the icing for the cake, so we will need Crisco. Actually, I wanted to just get out of the house. I think we'll go to dinner at this restaurant that used to be a train depot. I wasn't planning on Steve staying until today. Also wrapped the last gift for Denise and made the bow.
Went to dinner. Tried this burger that had beans and all stuff in it (vegetarian). The biggest problem was that it was so salty. I swear, I can almost feel my ankles swelling. Broccoli, didn't get the bun, it did have avocado and tomato on it, only water to drink. I didn't eat all the burger, it was just too salty for me. Maybe it's that I'm not used to salt right now.
wildhorse - when you say you're going low carb, what foods are you limiting? I'm thinking that I'd like to give it a try, I already cut out (for the most part) white breads.
While we were out, Denise called Vince to tell him that she called Maria to tell her that Denise was upset that Jess was so upset that she doesn't want to come to the shower. According to Denise, Maria was surprised that she'd hurt Jess. What? Isn't she an adult? She asked Denise if she could call Jess. She did and evidentally Jess was sleeping and didn't answer so Maria said she left a message. Once Jess wakes up, I am suspecting she'll call Maria. Personally, I would let Maria stew and then call her and tell her why I was upset (if I were Jess). Somehow, I don't think Jess will do that, but I'm sure she will tell Maria why she's so hurt.
Rori - how wonderful that you're going to that airshow
langman - To be honest, I like all the earrings. I do think that the second one is the one I like the least. When you put them on the (what's it called) things that go thru the ear, do you use some sort of back? If so, what kind?
janetr - breathtaking ornaments! I love all sorts of ornaments, so I am drawn to these pictures.

Michele ... I'm way behind ... but two foods that work as diuretics are celery and watermelon.0

Good evening ladies -
Too tired to say much but you are all on my mind.
Michele- I think you and Jess should be at the shower. Kill that b with kindness and rise above her drama. Do it for Denise. She is going to need a supportive family with what is ahead for her. Just wondering - why didn't each side of the family have a shower? That's been a tradition where I am from. In fact some girls have several showers. It would have saved so much grief.
Well, friends, tomorrow is my D day. I am going to talk to hubby about divorcing. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I feel really alone in this because I've told only 2 friends and my son about the situation. It's so good to have you to "talk" to.
