Sober September 2017

I had half a bottle of wine last night. At least it wasn't a full one! Urgh.5

21 days in and I've only had 1 beer. While I'm pleased about that, I'm feeling discouraged that the scale isn't really reflecting the loss of so many calories. I haven't exchanged more food or other drinks for the alcohol, and my activity level is consistent, so I'm frustrated. Still...I do *feel* much better.
The weight loss will come! Be patient!4 -
We are 2/3 of the way through September! Keep up the great work friends, and keep working toward your goals. Believe in yourself! You can do this!4

Home stretch and i think i might be back on track.5

I'd like to join this thread but as I haven't drunk in over 6 years it would probably be cheating...7

Will be 3 weeks Saturday and going into this I knew the 23&30th I would be drinking. I've already programmed into MFP and my meal to eat before passing out. Will go running in the morning and then will still be within my calories deficit then after these next two Saturdays won't drink again until October 28 for the Halloween party. Now I've how do evenings where I have definitely wanted to crack one open because my kids or my husband or it was hot out and drinking a few beers goes good with that or a certain smell or walking around in my garden but I told myself "no you can wait a few more days, you're doing good":-)8

I don't know how your day is going, but I could use a margarita here.2

I joined James Swanwick's 30 Day No Alcohol Challenge. It's a paid subscription thing but has a 2 week refund policy (maybe 30 days??). Nonetheless I'm listening to his videos and he has a private FB page thats helpful too. His regular page is a little too sales'y but so far I'm finding it helpful. I'll know better tonight.

Wow, work today is just making me want to go live in a bottle of vodka!
not felt the 'need' for a drink in months!
Hopefully a run after work will see me right!7 -
Second sober nite in a row, woke early for a run.8

Hi everyone! I've been on track with a total of three drinks over the weekend and zero this week. We went out for a drink Tuesday and I had the best club soda & cranberry ever.7
-
I went out on the date and had two glasses of wine. The guy was a no go. I should have stuck to the one glass. Oh well. I may give up dating again.3

It's likely a run will do you good.

Just curious - do you think the right date would be bothered if you don't drink? Other posters have implied that drinking in some social contexts is so expected that they would feel some pressure to drink or at least to pretend to drink.0 -
Day 4 (again) and so far so good. Husband asked last night if I wanted a glass of wine with dinner and it was surprisingly easy to say no thanks. I just felt so good last week not drinking, so I channelled that. And even though one glass wouldn't have hurt, I often can't stick to just one. So at least during the week, I'm abstaining.
Getting together with family this weekend and drinking is always on the agenda. But I'm going to limit it to just one night (Saturday) and then try stopping after three or four.4 -
Hey I feel like I'm late to this thread, but I gave up alcohol in August for 90 days. I feel so amazing and loosing a whole bunch of pounds. I most likely won't drink too much after the 90 days is up.8

Question... how much weight will I gain from drinking this Saturday? Just so when I step on the scale I'm not freaked out and pissed off. Now I only "plan" to go over my daily deficit of about 500 calories but plan on running that morning so I should get 500 cal from that so basically I'm breaking even.... but this beer will be a lot of water weight gain I'm assuming. So basically staying within calorie deficit but it's including my exercise calories...1

Hard to say! Just hydrate with H20 and get back on track as soon as you can.1 -
I have a junk food hangover this morning. The couple of beers last night were fine. But when I was walking home from the bar, I stopped for Cheetos and chocolate. I should have skipped meeting up for drinks, stopped for a good dinner out, and gone to bed at 9.3

Met up with two friends last night and ended up having two glasses of wine. I hadn't planned to. It derailed my eating for the rest of the night. Wish I hadn't done it but it's done.
Counted the calories and am planning to abstain for the rest of the month and continue my once every two weeks in October.3 -

Honestly I often am dehydrated after drinking so I weigh less the day after. I don't drink beer so maybe that is different though.1 -

Not really but I guess it makes me more relaxed. I am not good at first dates. I had the second as I was feeling anxious. Should have just called it a night.1 -
I've been tracking my drinking for the past four years. And yesterday marked 60 days for me alcohol free. My records had been 55 days previously and 59 days. I had a few stints of 30 days in there as well. Previously, I would have had a goal in mind, and then would have gone out on day 60 or 61 and had my bottle of wine....but this time it's different. I'm not itching to go out and buy wine, because I'm still working on my weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle. For me personally and how I end up drinking, they don't mesh.
I will admit that it also helps that one of my drinking buddies and i are no longer friends anymore so I don't have her trying to convince me to drink
When I would drink, I would end up drinking a whole bottle of wine, and then eating a whole bunch of food afterwards I mean what goes better with a bottle of wine than a large pizza, right? Not good for trying to lose weight. Of course, when I went out, I only have 2 or 3 glasses, but I would still go over on my calories.
I'm still trying to figure out when/if I will drink again. I'm really not sure. Right now, I'm content just drinking my water and eating within my calorie ranges or having occasional cheat days.
Still figuring things out for myself, but I am continuing to abstain for September and probably October as well!
It's nice to know I am not the only one out there trying to figure this out as well.

Chocolate with wine for me. With Strawberries, and 2 bottles sometimes.
Switching the drink choice for me helps. Vodka, Soda, lime juice is low in calories, so I will not go way over. And there are not a lot of foods that it goes with.1 -
so I had three glasses of wine last night...they were stingy pours so probably the same as the two I had on wednesday. My stomach is a mess today and feeling dehydrated. Back on the no drinking. I feel crappy. My weight also bumped up even though I stayed within my calories.1

Np.. I only get alcohol on my birthday and my brother drinks 3/4ths of it. I've got this!2
